The Science and Agricultural Journalism Program teaches students how to communicate (using traditional and new
media) about issues that affect people’s everyday lives. The degree is offered in partnership with the Missouri School of
Journalism.
Our program is designed for students who see themselves on the forefront of communicating about the food system
or the environment, and every topic that falls under those big categories — if this appeals to you, the MU Science and
Agricultural Journalism degree program could be the perfect fit.
Our Writing Contest
Select the category you are most interested in (Science and Environment, Food or Agriculture) and write an essay
focused on the official topic for that category.
Essays should be three to four pages in length, 12-point Times, double spaced and stapled.
Please put your name and email address in the top right corner of each page.
Deadline for entries: Must be postmarked no later than November 30, 2013.
Mail three copies of your essay, along with a signed entry form (found on website, see URL below) that verifies your
essay is your own, original work, to this address:

Winners will be notified by Dec. 23, 2013.
Scholarship is valid for students admitted to the University of Missouri fall semester 2014 with a declared
major in Science and Agricultural Journalism.
