Getting to Mui Ne
There are three ways to travel between Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne.
Mui Ne Beach and Phan Thiet may be easily reached by car or bus and is now about a 5 hour
ride. Nha Trang is about 5 hours away, and Da lat is 3-5 hours, depending upon the highways
taken. There is no local airport.

The buses stop in the heart of the tourist strip in Mui Ne, so there is no need to take a taxi.
By Train
Depart from Ho Chi Minh: 6.45 AM and arriving five hours later. The return trip leaves Phan
Thiet around 1:30PM. Price is around 70,000 VND/ pax/ 1 way.
The train station in HCMC (Saigon Railway Station) is in District 3, about 3 km from the
center.
The railway station in Phan Thiet is about 12 km from the beginning of the Mui Ne resort
strip. You also can buy shuttle bus to Mui Ne for 25,000VND per person. Tickets are sold on
the train, though the announcement might be made in Vietnamese only, and you need to
watch carefully for the ticket sellers to pass by.
By Private car
If the departure times of the Open Buses might not suit your schedule, you can arrange a
private car to Mui Ne. Price is 100 USD/ 4 seat car/ 1 way. The ride takes 4 to 5 hours,
depending of the road condition.

Getting around Mui Ne
Hire a motorbike
You can also rent motorbikes and bicycles at many resorts and tour agencies. Price ranges

Finding a good bicycle for rent in Mui Ne is not an easy job because they get damaged very
fast with the salt carried by the wind. Several places have city bicycles which are only
suitable for the trip to the fishing village. If you want to go for the adventurous trip, you will
have to look for a sportier bicycle and eventually.

Banks close at 4 or 5 pm. This means that if you arrive in Mui Ne on a Friday, well it sucks to
be you. Actually, tour offices like Hanh Cafe can give cash advances for higher rates.
Post Office In Mui Ne
There is a small post office in Mui Ne, east of the Ham Tien Market. You are probably better
to go to the large post office on Nguyen Tat Thanh St. in Phan Thiet. It is probably easier to
send than receive. Fedex is the most "reliable" and fastest method but still leaves a lot to be
desired. If you use the postal service to send or receive, your package will be opened and
thoroughly inspected. In Vietnam, the post office handles the phone systems, and all public
phones are available there. Internet cafes now offer overseas calls as well.

What to Bring
Larger-sized people may have difficulty buying cloths in the market. Best to bring enough
cloths with you
Electronic gadgets, battery chargers, laptop equipment. Other than cell phone stores, there are
not a lot of shops for this in neighboring Phan Thiet.
DVDs and Audio CD's. There are few shops in Phan Thiet and none in Mui Ne that sell them.
Reading material. Victor Tours (across from Full Moon) however, does now have a small
used book shop.

One of the coolest restaurants on the strip - it's still pretty casual but definitely a step up from
the Mui Ne norm. Right on th beach, the Asian fusion cuisine is tasty, the service is good and
the decor's a definite standout. After dinner, Sankara morphs into one of Mui Ne's most
popular nightspots.
Seafood BBQ restaurants

Heading up past Shades towards Mui Ne town, you'll hit a handful of great little bare bones
seafood BBQ spots. There's nothing flash about the spaces but they're a great, casual, dining
experience.
Bo Ke street
Direction: go to fishing village after Tien Dat hotel, you will see many small cafes near
seashore
Don't miss this famous spot. This is a street full of local cafes, that making seafood BBQ of
all kinds. Prices are very cheap and choice is wide. Scallops with onion and garlic sauce are
must-to-have here. Exterior is modest, so if you can be shocked of cockroaches or rats
running by, don't go here
Santimatti pizzeria

One of the best pizzas in town. Italian cousin at its best — pizzas, pastas, salads and wine.
Place is nice looking, with good atmosphere. Locals and longstayers enjoy 10% discount —
ask for you membership card. Owner is often in place, so expect fast and enjoyable service
Pho Bo and sandwiches
Direction: between Bo Ke street and Pogo
The only place to have food in the nights (since Joe's don't serve food at night anymore). Go
by Bo Ke street in Pogo direction and you will see small pavilion on the right. They serve
nice sandwiches with chicken and scrambled eggs (30,000 VND). Also you can have Pho Bo

good sound, they make some good crepes and waffle if you are a little hungry. Free wifi,

Pogo Bar
Add: 138 Nguyen Dinh Chieu. Very popular place once.. You can expect surfers and expats
here. Cocktails and buckets are cheap and not very tasty.
Things do not miss
Ke Ga Lighthouse
Vietnam’s first lighthouse was built by the French in 1899. It’s an hour away from Mui Ne
and a worthwhile break from the beach.
You can hire a motorbike and make your own way. Get there early and you’ll also see the
fishermen bringing in the morning catch. The lighthouse also looks most stunning in morning
light.
If you come by independently, you can usually persuade a boatman to ferry you by coracle to
the island where the lighthouse is perched. You might get a little wet so be careful with your
camera.

Located between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet on the main road.

Red Dunes
Close by Mui Ne and swarming with travellers and insistent kid sellers, the Red Dunes are
worth a visit in the early morning or late afternoon. The sand is difficult to walk in but the
views across the duned to the ocean are well worth it. Riding mats down the dunes is popular
and one way of appeasing the persistent kids that will trail you here.
Water sports
Mui Ne has become one of the main centres of kitesurfing in South East Asia and hundreds
of kites fill the sky when the winds are right. Kite surfing instruction is available, starting at
$60USD/hour, beginners package of 7 lessons start at $350 USD. From November till March
you generally will have strong winds every day.

White sand dunes and Lotus Lake
About 40 minutes towads Nha Trang from Mui Ne by car or motorctcle, Mui Ne's other
dunes are less visited but beautiful in the early morning or later afternoon light. Try to go
early, or at sunset. The dunes are striking and worth a visit by themselves but they border a
serene lake filled with lotus blossoms. You can hire a bike and get there yourself but the last
bit of road is unsealed and only to be taken by people confident on two wheels.
Mui Ne market and fishing harbour
Don't miss out on an excursion to this quiet little village, at the north end of Mui Ne bay. The
coastal road leads straight into the town (with a left turn required to continue up the coast). At
the entrance to town is an overlook with a splendid view of hundreds of colourful fishing
boats moored in the bay. Further along into town, just off the main road, there is a small but
colourful market. If you take your transport just down to the water, you will reach the fishing
harbour, where you can purchase fresh seafood (if you have any means to cook it) or
purchase steamed crabs, shellfish, etc. to eat on the spot from local vendors.
The Fairy Stream (Suoi Tien) is a little river that winds its way through bamboo forests,
boulders and the dunes behind the village, in parts resembling a miniature version of the
Grand Canyon. Local kids will want to accompany you to show you the way (and of course
earn a dollar or so). For the most part, the stream is about ankle-deep and no more than kneedeep even at its deepest. It is sandy with few stones and can be walked comfortably
barefooted. You can climb up the red sand hills overlooking the river valley and even walk
there parallel to the river, however, the sand may be hot on a sunny day, so bring some
footwear. Walking time: 20 minutes
Yoga
When you spend your weekend or your long vacation in Mui Ne, you won't have to skip your
gym or yoga practice routine. And if you haven’t had one before, it might be a good time for
you to start such a healthy routine during your stay in Mui Ne. There are also gyms from high
standard resorts/hotels like Anantara, Victoria and Swiss Village which are opened for public.

Cooking Class in Mui Ne
The class starts with the purchasing of the ingredients in the market of Ham Tien located in
mid-distance between the cooking school and the fisherman village of Mui Ne. There, you
will also discover the vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices which are specific to Vietnam and
which are required for Vietnamese cooking.
Then you will get back to the school and start the learning of the preparation of dishes with
practical exercises. You will learn how to cook 4 different dishes with sauces and fruit drinks.

Sand Dunes Tour.
Red Dune, White Dune, Fairy Springs
This tour is best early in the morning to see the sunrise at the sand dunes, or late in the
afternoon to watch the sunset. The dunes may now be reached by motorbike, but we
recommend taking a jeep tour so you can ride on the beach. Stop at the market in Mui Ne
village to pick up supplies (food and drink). Make your next stop at the Red Sand Dunes.
Stay for a few minutes to take some photos.
After passing Hon Rom village, ride along the beach to the village of Binh Tien. Head over
the hills to the White Sand Dunes. This is the highlight of any trip to Mui Ne. Get some
pictures, slide down the dunes on plastic sleds, and then have a picnic lunch by the lake,
under the pines. Head back, stopping at the Red Sand Canyon for an exploration.
Back in Mui Ne Beach, make an optional stop at the Fairy Springs (you should visit the
springs at some point during your stay), and follow the stream through the canyon to the
small waterfall at the back. The walk should take 30-minutes to 1 hour. This whole tour
should last all morning and halfway through the afternoon.

Ta Kou / Khe Ga Tour
Ta kou Mountain, Khe Ga Beach, Cham Towers
Ta kou and Khe Ga may be visited separately for a more relaxed tour, or together to make
a very long day. Head out first thing to the Cham Towers. Get some nice photos of the
towers and the view of the city and harbor.
Next stop at the Phan Thiet City Market to pick up supplies (food and drink) and get some
photos of the water tower, bridges and harbor. Head to Ta Kou Mountain and either hike
the trail for free or take the gondola. At the top, view the temple and Vietnam's largest
reclining buddha. Have a vegetarian lunch at the temple, enjoy a meal at the gondola
restaurant, or eat a picnic lunch under the rainforest canopy. Next head to the coast to Khe
Ga Beach to view the island lighthouse and take a swim. On the way back, stop at the
great roadside canyon of Ganh Son and the former site of the LZ Betty, an American
military base.

Phan Thiet Central Market
This market is the largest in Binh Thuan province. You’ll find some of the best fish sauce
and cheapest dragon fruit in the country here. Other specialties include cashew and coconut
candies, dried seafood, and sand paintings.
Rang Market
This little market at the center of Mui Ne Beach serves the community of Ham Tien, and is
open from sunrise to 10.30am. It’s a great place to eat breakfast and buy fresh fruit, locally
made banana and sesame candies, coconut cakes and peanut brittle.
