Directions & Criteria
Directions for activity:
For this activity, you must create an optical illusion using AutoCAD, utilizing the knowledge you
have gained from Modules 1-5. You will locate an optical illusion of your choice, using one of the
resources listed below. Once an illusion is chosen, you will then recreate it using AutoCAD, complete a
write-up, and present the illusion to the class, using the projector. The grading rubric is on the back of
this sheet, and all of the criteria for each section are listed below, along with the questions which need
to be answered in the one paragraph write-up. You should look at the rubric to maximize your
efficiency. At the conclusion of the activity, you will turn in one page that contains the write-up and
your drawing of the illusion of your choice.
Criteria:
- AutoCAD Ability: You will be able to successfully draw the chosen optical illusion, using AutoCAD.
- Commands Used: You must use 3 or more different commands to complete the optical illusion.
- Complexity: The optical illusion which you choose should involve creative thinking, and require the use
of 3 or more commands. The more complex the illusion, the more points will be gained.
- Creativity: You should be able to make the illusion unique in some way, using 3 or more additional
AutoCAD commands, such as linetypes, lineweights, layers, colors, hatching, etc. This category
includes the commands which are not used to create the initial optical illusion.
- Effectiveness: Your optical illusion should give the same illusion as the example which you chose.
- Presentation: You will present your illusion to the class, using the information from the write-up.
- Write-Up: Your write-up should be at minimum, 1 paragraph long. This means you will use at least 6
COMPLETE SENTENCES. Your write-up will answer the following questions…
1. Does your optical illusion have a name? If so, what is it? (You may name it if it has no name)
2. Where did you find the optical illusion? (State the specific website; you may use the URL)
3. Why did you choose this optical illusion?
4. How many AutoCAD commands did you use to create the illusion?
5. What were the commands used to create the illusion?
6. What commands did you use to make your illusion more creative?
Requirements:
You will turn in a 1 page (Word document) that will include your name, your write-up, and your drawing
of the optical illusion.
