Atlanta Chapter 77th year in the Institute of Management Accountants!
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Members,
Once again, I would like to thank our board for the wonderful job they are doing in providing value to our
membership. Your hard work is apparent by the “Standing Room Only” attendance during out September
meeting. I would like to thank Bruce Bird for his pre-dinner presentation: “Technology General Controls for
SOX 404 & the New PCAOB Auditing Standard #5” and Bob Dow’s dinner presentation: “SOX 404 Rules
Update.”
I would like to ad that both Bruce Bird and Bob Dow are IMA Atlanta Chapter members and are recognized
speakers in our community for their work in SOX. This is a testament to IMA’s continued leadership in the
Accounting community and it is nice to know that we don’t have to travel far for professional guidance.
Our Lunch & Learn annual “Economic Update” topic on September 27 was presented by Greg Miller Chief
Economist with Suntrust Company. Special thanks to all the speakers who take time out of their busy schedule
to support IMA’s continued educational objectives.
The next few months will be extremely busy for the IMA Atlanta Chapter and I would like to outline several
upcoming events:
Tuesday October 16th IMA Chapter meeting.
Student Night and one of the largest attended events of the year. Pre-Dinner review of CMA, CPA , CIA and
CFE certifications. Dinner: CFO Panel on Challenges for Management Accountants with Bob Dow leading the
discussion as moderator.
Saturday October 20th Memory Walk: Metro Atlanta 5K Walk.
Chastain Park 8AM to 10AM. Walk benefits Alzheimer’s Association and the IMA Atlanta Chapter has
supported this organization for years. See website for more details.
Thursday October 25th The South’s Funniest Accountant.
Coca-Cola Roxy in Buckhead. Please see website for additional information or contact Randi Bates,
randi@accountantsone.com
I look forward to meeting you at the upcoming events and please feel free to invite other professionals who you
feel will benefit from IMA’s Atlanta Chapter’s mission to provide value to our members and to the Accounting
professional community.
Warm regards,
Daniel Guelzo, CTS, CPC
