THE CRUCIBLE – CHARACTER ANALYSIS
You will write a character analysis of one character in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. You
will analyze the impact of the author’s choices regarding how the characters are
introduced and developed. You will use evidence from the play to support your analysis
of that text.
In order to write the analysis, you will combine textual evidence, interpretation of that
evidence, and you will add SO WHAT to your analysis. The SO WHAT in literary
analysis usually involves THEME. You must analyze how a specific character helps
Miller convey a specific THEME in The Crucible.
