Chemistry – Christmas Break Bonus Opportunity – 5 or 10 bonus points
If you wish, you may complete the following over Christmas break for up to 12 bonus lab points.
1. Use the mole pattern and direction provided to make a mole (7 points)
 You may use any fabric or pattern you like, even old jeans or T-shirt material, as long as it’s clean.
 You may adjust the size of the mole to be bigger or smaller by enlarging or reducing the pattern. Just be sure to
adjust all parts of the mole to the same scale.
2. Write a story to accompany your mole (5 points)
 The story must be a school appropriate “chemistry adventure” starring your mole. Be creative!
 There needs to be specific chemistry content, not simply “the mole did a lab…”
 The chemistry content needs to be correct and accurate.
 Provide details, including examples of any math needed.
You may make a mole without writing a “chemistry adventure” mole story, but you may not just write a story unless you
also make a mole to go with it.
The mole and story are due on the first day back from break (Monday, January 5th, 2015). No late moles or stories will
be accepted; in other words, moles may not be as slow as molasses!
