1993, which operates as a Private Training Establishment under the Education
AmendmentAct1989.
TheAcademyisregisteredasaPrivateTrainingEstablishmentwithNewZealand
Qualifications Authority, and is accredited to provide education and training
basedontheUnitStandardscomprisingthe“NationalCertificateinHairdressing
(ProfessionalStylist-Level4)”andthe“NationalCertificateinSalonSupport”-Level
3andThe‘NationalCertificateinEmploymentskills’L1
AsaconditionofourregistrationandaccreditationwithNewZealandQualifications

programmes.Traineesofvariedacademicabilityandeducationalbackgroundaresupported

PLEASENOTE:Itisyouremployersresponsibilitytotrainyouinallthepracticalaspects
of hairdressing, Harrington\Vaughan Academy of Hairdressing is responsible for
instructing you in the aspects of theory and can only demonstrate tasks within the
limitedtimeavailabletous.
Thisdoessoundalittleharshhoweverwhenyouthinkthatyouremployerhasyoufor
94%ofthetimeandweatHarrington\VaughanAcademyofHairdressingonlyhave
youfor6%itisverydifficultforustoensurethatyouaretrainedinallaspectsofthe
practical skills. You, your employer and the ITO have signed an agreement (Your
Apprenticeshipagreement)tosaythatyouremployerwilltrainyouinallyouneed
toknowpracticallyandsometimestheywillbeabletoassistwiththetheoryaswell.
WecanarrangeoutsideofOffJobTraining,timetospendoneonone,ifyourequire
furtherintensivetraining.Pleaseaskyourcoursetutorforthecostsassociatedwiththis
specialisedtraining.

outsandteachingmaterialforyoutocollect.HoweverYOUareresponsibleforyour
owntrainingandensuringthatallnotesarecollected.
IfyouareabsentfromOJTforanyotherreasonapartfromillness,andthismustbe
supportedbyaMedicalCert,itisyourresponsibilitytocontacttheSalesandLiaison
Co-ordinatorbeforetheOJTdayandgainandexemptionfromtraining.Ifyoudo
notgainthisexemptionthentheITOSalesandLiaisonCo-ordinatorwillchargeyou
foryourabsentday/s.
Yourabsence,beitexplainedorunexplained,isrecordedandsenttoyouremployer
andITOSalesandLiaisonCo-ordinatorastheyhaveavestedinterestinyourtraining,
itistheITOwhowillchargeforanymisseddaysattheirdiscretion.
TheHITOchargeforafulldayabsentfromOJTis$100.00
During2016itisimportantforyoutoachieveaminimumof20creditsinduringthe
yeartoensureyourApprenticeshipTrainingAgreementisnotterminated.Thisisyour
responsibilitytoensureyougainthese20credits.
However to be directed to the following year you must complete 100% of your
assessmentineachdirectedyear(HITOPolicy.)
