The first stop of the day will be at Luella’s Quilt
Basket (www.luellas.com) in Redondo Beach.
Luella’s is noted for an open shop atmosphere
and a wide selection of brights, batiks, and seasonal fabrics. They have a number of gift items
and kits for purchase and a wide variety of patterns
from your favorites as well as many local designers.
Just around the corner from Luella’s is The
Cotton Shop (thecottonshop.com)—a familyowned fabric store which started in 1959.
From their beginnings in apparel fabrics, they
have expanded, adding quilting cottons and
decorator fabrics. Among their more than
5,000 bolts are lines from Robert Kaufman,
Hoffman, Alexander Henry, P&B, Timeless
Treasures, Moda, and Marcus Brothers.
Next the tour will go to The Farmers Market
(www.farmersmarketla.com), a Los Angeles
landmark with a wide variety of food from several
dozen different restaurants and shops. Have
lunch here and select any type of food as you
browse among the stalls, which include Mexican,
Greek, Italian, Chinese, deli, and more. You
can watch candy being made at Littlejohn’s, and
butchers or cake decorators at work.
After lunch it’s off to F&S Fabrics
(www.fandsfabrics.com). As featured on the
“Project Runway” television show, F&S has a
huge selection of textiles and trims that present a
dazzling mix of color, texture, and pattern to satisfy virtually any need. Their fabric stock also includes more than a thousand bolts of top-quality
quilt fabric in a variety of styles.
The tour concludes with a stop in Torrance
at Memory Lanes Antique Mall
(www.antiquelandusa.com). They have more than
275 dealers in 20,000 square feet of floor space
offering a huge array of antiques and collectibles.
They also have a free coffee bar and voted “Best
Antique Store” in the area six years running.
Tours include deluxe motorcoach transportation, tour guide,
any admissions, lunch, and all gratuities. Additional buses
for each tour will take an alternate route, but visit all the
same locations. Buses depart from and return to the front of
the convention center (on Pine Ave.)
