What is Stoichiometric Combustion?
§  Ideal combustion process where fuel is burned
completely
–  Ideal air/fuel ratio - chemically correct mixing of fuel and air
–  Consumes all fuel & air without excess of either in exhaust
–  No Oxygen in exhaust stream allows Three Way Catalyst to
handle NOx control
§  Benefits:
–  Increased power density
–  Increased thermal efficiency
–  Decreased emissions

ISX12 G Customer Feedback
John Erwin
Director of Operations Support
§  ISX12 G does everything we need it to do..from city delivery to 80,000 lb class 8 highway
transport.
§  Our commitment to natural gas has brought new business our way
Carl Suhr
Kwik Trip
§  Fuel economy is currently running 12-13% per DGE below our diesels in like
application. That being said, our average cost differential between diesel and CNG is
running at a 48% advantage for CNG. Due to this differential our fuel CPM is
dramatically improved with the CNG equipment.
Mark Storemann
Director of Operations
Our 42 - ISX12 G Kenworth T660 Ruan trucks at Fair Oaks farm have
accumulated about 72,000 miles/truck, and the fuel economy has been 5.8
- 6.0 mpg., which is 12% better than our ISL G fleet."

Fuel and Fuel Systems
§  Cummins Westport natural gas engines fuel requirements enable
the use of both CNG or LNG.
§  Customers may choose CNG or LNG depending on duty cycle,
application, and/or fuel availability.
§  Natural gas fuel (CNG or LNG) must meet fuel quality
requirements per AEB 79.05 (CES14624)
§  Regardless of how the fuel is stored on the vehicle, the at engine
fuel inlet pressure at rated conditions requirement is the same
–  ISL G - minimum 70 psi, maximum 150 psi
–  ISX12 G – minimum 60 psi, maximum 150 psi

LNG Fuel System Description
§  LNG tanks are designed with thermal properties to store natural
gas as a liquid (-260 F).
§  The liquid leaves the tank to a heat exchanger supplied with
engine coolant to warm the gas to gaseous form. As it returns to
gaseous state it expands and pressurizes the system.
§  A LNG fuel system is a low pressure system designed for normal
operating pressure of 230 psi.
§  Fuel lines are fully annealed high-quality stainless steel hydraulic
tubing type 304 or 316 seamless stainless steel.
