4 Grade
History
Eureka! There is gold in California.
Students will learn about the gold rush and how
it affected California’s economy. The students
will have an opportunity to go mining on our
campus. Students will simulate how word spread
slowly across the world and by the time people
reached California little gold was left.
Math
President’s Day
Students have put in a great effort into understanding fractions
and more specifically adding and subtracting. This month students will
also learn how to multiply and divide fractions, conquering all of our
operations.

Happy Habits Assembly at 8:30
The thirteen colonies have been established and more and more
states are becoming united. This quarter students must learn the states
and capitals of our nation. Students may take this assessment once per
day. We will be reviewing in class as well.

We are headed into our next topic of geometry. Students will
be creating a stained glass piece that represents all of our vocabulary.
They will also be finding their vocabulary throughout our classroom and
school. Have them point out some of the vocabulary as you drive
around or at home!

LearnStorm: Khanacademy Competition
A free, 3-month learning challenge designed to build a student’s ability to
learn anything through mastery of math skills on Khan Academy. Points are
earned by mastering math skills and also for taking on challenging new
concepts and persevering. It is team-based--school vs. school and city vs.
city! Top individual scorers and schools will get special recognition on
weekly leaderboards and will be eligible for awards. Anyone can sign up and
help their school or city take the top spot on the leaderboards. Everyone
has a chance to be invited to the in-person finals event and celebration.
