Oedipus Timeline
Name:___________________________
Directions: Create an organized timeline for each part of the Oedipus Rex play (the
prologue through the exodus). For each section, include the following:
a. A brief summary of what happens in the section (this can be a bulleted list or
in paragraph form)
b. An example of allusion from the section (quoted and cited)
c. An example of irony from the section (quoted or paraphrased) – label the
type of irony (i.e. dramatic, situational, or verbal) – You do not need to do
this for the Odes, just the scenes.
d. A statement or visual explaining the mood/tone of Oedipus’s character (or
the Chorus’s mood in the Odes) in the section (this may shift throughout the
section – explain if it does)
*Extra credit – make your timeline visually appealing…decorate it!
Example (partially complete):
Oedipus Rex – From start to finish
Prologue
