Introduction
Ies Topic:
[The relationship between sex education
and the problem of teenage pregnancy in
Hong Kong]
 This topic is about teenage pregnancy and their relationship to
sex education. Nowadays many teenager girls in Hong Kong
got pregnant and being in problem. This is very serious
problem that many teenagers are making mistake by having
sex with their boy/ girlfriend and got pregnant. They really
making their life miserable by being pregnant in young age.
To get out of this problem many of them have abortion and
some of them even give birth to baby. So we need to learn
more about sex education which is very useful and
knowledgeable to teenagers. If we know more about sex
education than we can be aware of teenage pregnancy. In
many countries same problem is happening day by day.
Because of teenage pregnancy, the number of doing abortion
is increasing which is just like killing babies. To prevent we
should learn more about sex education and teach young
teenagers about cause problem of teenage pregnancy. And
give them good education of teenage pregnancy. Parents
also should give good advice to their children about sex
education. They should suggest their child to avoid having
sex in teenage. There are many movies about teenage
pregnancy which is suitable for teenager to watch because by
these movies they can learn more about teenage pregnancy
and they can know how to be secure from being teenage
pregnant.
Background
Teenage pregnancy is formally defined as a pregnancy in a
young woman who has not reached her 20th birthday.
Adolescents were more likely than adults to have positive results
of sexually transmitted infection testing at baseline and at 30 days.
There were no significant group differences in chronic abdominal
pain, infertility, and recurrent PID at 35 or 84 months, but
adolescents were more likely to have a pregnancy at both time
points. Adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) also
demonstrated that adolescents had shorter times to pregnancy and
recurrent pelvic inflammation.
In 1978, 5% of all infants in Hong Kong were born to
teenage mothers. The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong
set up a Youth Advisory Service in 1977 to twofer counseling and
medical help to young people under 25 on questions of sexuality.
Between August 1977 and June 1980, 835 teenagers, 98% of them
female, approached the service for help. The youngest client was
13 but most was 17-19 years old. 7% had finished primary school
while the remainder had some secondary education. Most were
from lower to lower-middle socioeconomic backgrounds. Few
clients who became pregnant agreed to future use of birth control.
Reluctance of teenage girls and their parents to accept
responsibility for the girls' sexual relationships, peer pressure, and
irregular sexual activities were found to be factors in their failure to
use contraception. 257 pregnant clients chose to terminate their
pregnancies and obtained the required parental consent. Most
clients chose to have their infants out of wedlock, and only 2-3%
married. The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong has been
a pioneer in family life education to help teenagers understand
themselves and their sexuality, and to avoid the problems of
teenage pregnancy. Many health educators have argued that
comprehensive sex education would effectively reduce the number
of teenage pregnancies, although opponents argue that such
education encourages more and earlier sexual activity.
Establish positive attitudes toward sexuality

To reflect on and accept your attitudes towards sexuality as
well as to understand what may influence on one’s attitudes
example; culture, society, religion and media etc.
Human sexuality is natural; sexuality education should be
learned through life. There are different sexual needs when
reaching different phase of life. Sexuality education helps individual
establish one’s analytical ability to deal with the huge amount of
sexual messages from the mass media. Teen pregnancy is an
important issue. There are health risk for babies and the children
who born from teenage mother are likely to suffur from health,
emotional and social problem.
Aim of Sexuality Education
 To provide people comprehensive and accurate sexual
knowledge, physical and psychological development, and to
gain personal fulfillment, self-acceptance and well-being.
 To teach people how to get along with other people, give
respect and care of each other.
 To learns to be responsible towards sex, and not to hurt others.
 To seduce potential social problems related to sex.
 To help understand different social phenomena and views
concerning sexuality. And by doing so, help them learn how
to be analytical and establish personal values that suit
themselves the best.
Method
As doing this project was very tough and hard.
So I research some information through internet. In internet I can
find many information and situation. I have found many cases of
teenage pregnancy through websites which was very serious in
Hong Kong. I also find some more information in newspapers and
magazines. I use some questionnaire to my friends about teenage
pregnancy. It was useful to search in websites because I also found
some The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong which has
been a pioneer in family life education to help teenagers
understand themselves and their sexuality, and to avoid the
problems of teenage pregnancy. This service
Discussion
As Hong Kong is a development country but still there
are many problems which teenagers facing. Teenage mothers are
more likely to drop out of school. Only about one-third of teen
mothers obtain a high school diploma. Being teen mother is not
that easy.women who become pregnant in teenage can increased
high risk for complication, such as premature labor and
socioeconomic consequences. If the teenage girl want give birth to
baby then her career may be affect and she have to work in young
age to look after baby. There are many cases in Hong Kong like
some teenage parents has thrown their baby into the rubbish bin
and found by other people the baby was dead. The police has
arrested teen parents. The child mother was only 14 years old and
father was17years old. In some news we can hear many cases
about teenage pregnancy in Hong Kong
Reflection
As my topic was very serious problem in Hong Kong.
Doing this project was very tough for me and teenage pregnancy
was increasing a lot in recent years. Government should organized
more sex education for teenagers in schools. If teenagers can get
good education about sex then in future, there may be a decrease
in the number of the teenage pregnancy in the future.
In research I found most of teenagers abort babies when they
found to be pregnant. But some of them even suicide because their
boyfriend doesn’t accept them for this situation. I feel very bad
know this situation. As many couple has sex and when they found
of becoming parents then they just abort or kill it. So teenager
should be more careful before having sex. It is very necessary to
think about their future before having sex.
Conclusion
As doing this project I had learn about
pregnant at my school in science lesson which I have
experience more about sex education. i have find that many
teenagers have been pregnant. In recent years, the percentage
of teenage pregnancy is increasing. As now a day, there is
many teen couple and they do sex for their love. I think that
they are too young for their relationship. Most of teenager
aborts the babies when they found to be pregnant. Through
research I have found that most of the teenagers learn sex
education through TV, internet, magazine and newspapers.it
may make them temptation of sex.

Analysis
As teenage pregnancy is getting more serious and
also it is increasing in recent years a lot. There are many reasons for
teenage pregnancy for example curiosity loneliness and
entertainment through internet. Most teenagers get affected by TV
and serials. Teenager learns sex from websites and magazine which
can make them temptation of sex. Many teenage girls can easily get
trap with boys and they can get into troubles. There are many family
planning associations for teenage pregnancy and also for other
problems. This services help teenager to solve their problems and
give them good education about sex. I think the Hong Kong
government has organized many services for teenagers to solve
their problems. But not enough good sex education for teenager in
schools. There should be more sex education in all schools and also
about the causes of having sex in young ages. This kind of education
could stop teenager from being pregnant in future.
