 Unit’s patient population included pre and post open heart
surgeries. POD1 CABG and AVR surgeries. Regularly managing
amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, insulin and several other drips.
 Instructed graduate nurses in the critical care nurse internship
program as well as practicum students.
 Worked well with fellow staff RNs, as unit does not provide nurse
aides, phlebotomist, or transporters.
 Closely monitor patients fluid and electrolytes imbalances,
monitoring proper cardiac output, as well as provide
interventions for SOB, AFib, and/or other cardiac dysrhythmias
 Teamwork and time management skills applied daily, necessary
to meet patient’s daily care requirements.

 Initiated and titrated infusions at an outpatient center,
monitoring frequent vitals, infusion reactions and post infusion
observation: infusions included Remicade, IVIg, Tysabri,
Amikacin, blood products, etc.
 Central line assessments, care and patient education.
 Assisted physicians during sterile central venous catheter
insertions including: PAS-port, permacaths, and PICC’s. As well
assisting with bone marrow biopsies, paracentesis and
thoracentesis.
