Scholarships
“Make the U” Colgate Palmolive Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Students need to log on to:
www.colgate.com/hazlau and follow the application process. Applications are being accepted
from September 1st through December 31, 2011. For more information on the program please
call 1-877-473-4636.
The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) Scholarship Fund is open to
all NJ college bound seniors who plan to pursue a career in accounting. Applications and
information are available in the Guidance Center or online at www.njscpa.org/scholarships.
Completed applications must be postmarked by December 21, 2011.

College applications
The 2011-12 EDU, Inc. Common Black College Application is now available for students to
submit on line. The EDU, Inc. application allows students to apply to 35 HBCUs at the same
time for only $35.00. The EDU, Inc. application increases students education options by
allowing them to receive acceptance letters, financial aid packages and scholarship offers from
several different colleges. Visit the website at www.eduinconline.com to get more information
about the EDU, Inc. Common Black College Application.
Awards
Students may apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award (for all students) at
http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit. All applications must be completed
online by November 1.
Programs
A pre-college recruitment program in the College of Engineering at the Pennsylvania State
University will be Thursday, November 3 – 6. The cost is $125.00. If interested, please review

Contests
High School Oratorical Contest – Saint Peter’s College – January 28, 2012 – Open to all high
school freshman, sophomores and juniors. Sponsored by Guarini Institute for Government and
Leadership. The Topic is “How do we, as a nation, keep the American dream alive?” Register
on line at www.spc.edu/guariniinstitute before Friday, December 16, 2011.
Student Support
 If you need help with your homework or a writing assignment – after school academic
support is now available at the MHS Writing Center in room 210 on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:45 – 4:00 p.m.
