Unit Question:
What makes a good leader? How can effective leadership support team work?
Unit Question:
How fit are you? Can you create a programme to improve your fitness?
Key Unit Focuses:

Leadership skills – to take part in a range of tasks that require students to take lead
and be responsible for organization. Range of games that look at leadership skills. Key
elements to effective leadership. (Sports leaders award content).
Understanding of the following: Methods of training, fitness components, balanced
diet, training programmes, levels of fitness.
Use information gained to create and take part in a personalised fitness
programme.
Key Unit Concepts/Words:
Cardiovascular Endurance, Speed, Strength, Power, Agility, Balance, Coordination,
Body types. Eat well plate, Carbohydrates, Proteins, fats, Minerals, Grip
Dynamometer, Vertical jump test, Broad Jump, 30 meter sprint test, SMART targets,
FITT principle, Recovery, Thresholds, Progression.
Key Assessments/Creative Outcomes:
Students to assess their fitness levels at start and end of a unit.

Non – verbal communication, Verbal Communication, Trust, Observation, Leadership,
Respect, Organisation, Fair Play.

Take part in; team challenges / sports matches / orienteering tasks and put in
scenarios with selected leaders selected to lead towards a successful outcome.
To reflect upon performance considering leadership skills and qualities, identifying
strengths and areas for improvement.
Being able to state qualities of a good leader and demonstrate leadership skills.
Key Unit Homework:

Research a person who you believe to be a good leader, give reasons and
examples for your choice.

them. Then carry out the training programme.
Critically evaluate and analyse their training programme commenting on the
