Jointing Materials-Nuts, Screws, Dowels, Hinges and Glue, windows and Roof trusses.
Wood-working machines, their prescriptions, use; care and maintenance.
Practical Instructions:Preparation of small house-hold furniture, such as stool, table mirror-stand etc.
Making articles of wood; turning lathe curtains rods, table lamp, preparation of polish and
polishing of furniture; Practice of all types of wood-working machines.
PATTERN- MAKING AND FOUNDRY
Main Trade -3
Theoretical Instruction :Brief description of pattern making machineries.
Cricular-saw, Bond and Universal wood-working machines, wood-turning, Lathe, their uses.
Contraction and shrinkage allowance for various metals, their influence on pattern making.
Core. Box Construction :- Important features, Boxes square and rectangular, Right core
and left core, Boxes for round cores.
Practical Instruction:Laying-out pattern according to drawing and selecting timber for pattern.
Preparing patterns and making required core boxes for them. Making patterns such as saw
eccentrics, shaft, coupling,bushing and piston etc.

SHEET METAL AND SPRAY PAINTING

operating instructions,Type of Spray-painting and advantages of spray -painting.
Practical Instructions :Exercise in rivetting,soldering and brazing, making copper and brass articles such as
trays, flowers vessels, lamp-sheds, photo - frame etc.
Preparation of surface, varnish, enamel and cellulose painting, the spray-gun and using it
for enamel and cellulose painting, metallic spray painting.
TEXTILE

Theoretical Instructions:Introduction to weaving by powerloom. Primary motions and their functions i.e.
Shedding, picking and beating. Important secondary motion of a powerloom and
its function. Setting weaves and preparation of their designs. Study of weaves suitable
for towels, such as hucka-back. Honey-comb.Brighter-honey-comb,draft and peg plain
simple calculations relating to weight of warp and weft.
Introduction to bleaching process and simple methods of bleaching cotton yarn and gray,
cloth samples. Simple methods of dyeing direct and acid colours,uses of fancy weft yarn.
Practical Instructions :Practice of weaving on different types of Handloom, preparation of plain fabrics,
striped fabrics,check,shirting, and towel clothing, practice of bleaching cotton yarn
and cloth samples, practice of dyeing with simple dyes on yarn and cloth.
