PROJECT TITLE:Design & Development of a Formula SAE Car
Objectives
To design and develop a Formula SAE Car based international Formula SAE Car
specification.
Background
This is a problem based learning course. Students will be assigned a group design &
development project to be executed & submitted at the end of the semester. Supervision,
monitoring & continuous assessment of the project will be made through out the semester
be the lecturers. Since this is a design & development project, students are expected to be
creative, pro-active & apply all the relevant fundamental first degree knowledge to solve
the given task. Students are expected to read mechanical engineering design books,
articles, journals, papers, magazines, patents & surf the internet during undertaking this
design project. Students are also expected to carry out the design project systematically &
at the same time document the work accordingly. The outputs will be 3D CAD models
using Solid Works & engineering drawings. Students are encouraged to use engineering
software in the faculty’s computer lab such as ADAMS, Nastran/Patran, etc… to help
them do their engineering analysis. Finally, a group presentation will have to be given
accompanied by a full technical report.
