Steps:
Before:
1. Determine if you would like a partner or would prefer to work
alone.
2. Decide which of the events from each major part of the Hero’s
Journey (monomyth) you would like to focus on.
a. Find quotes from The LT that show each of these
parts.(MINMUM of 6)
3. Decide which three story elements you will define.
a. Find examples of each of those three from The LT.
Rough Draft:
1. Format all quotes found (for both the Hero’s Journey and Story
Elements) as quote sandwiches.
Example: Near the climax of Alicia’s heartbreaking story, her true intentions are
revealed, “‘Michael,’ she began, ‘I’ve always loved you. I did this all for you’”
(Stevens, 236). This quote proves that although Alicia murdered Melinda, her love for
Michael drove her to do so.
a. These must be written out correctly on lined/scratched paper before
moving on.
2. Decide how you will present your quotes and knowledge of the
Hero’s Journey as presented in The LT, and draw this on a piece
of lined/scratch paper.
a. You will show this and your quote sandwiches to McGill before getting
final draft paper.
Final Draft:
Create a final draft poster that includes:
1. 3 Major parts of the Hero’s Journey
2. At least 6 quote sandwiches that show 2 events for each main part of the
Hero’s Journey
3. Definitions and quote sandwiches that prove your understanding of at
least 3 story elements
4. Title
5. Name(s) and Class Period
6. Rubric taped to back of poster
7. Ink writing and COLOR
