WHY DO I HAVE TO TAKE IT?
Algebra and Geometry is essential to many careers including business, engineering,
medicine, computers and many others. Math 7 is a course designed to introduce you to
many of the topics of Algebra. As a result, Math 7 is a prerequisite for Algebra.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO PASS THIS COURSE?
In order to pass, you need to have good arithmetic skills. You also must be willing to
work everyday in class and to do nightly homework. You MUST make a personal
commitment of time and energy.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I WILL LEARN IN MATH 7?
 You will be able to interpret and graph data.
 You will be able to do operations with integers and graph equations
 You will be able to work with fractions solve probability problems
 You will be able to write Algebraic sentences
 You will be able to solve equations
WHAT IS THE GRADING POLICY?
 Homework is worth 3 points per assignment (daily)-> 15%
 Quizzes are worth 20 points each (once a week). ->25 %
 Performance: Selected graded assignments are worth 10 –20 points -> 20%
 Accelerated math: 5 points per objective mastered
 Classwork assignments
 Projects, District assessment, Team Tests, Warm-Ups, IB Units
 Tests -> 40 %
 Multiple choice 100 points
 Constructive response 50 points
 Final Exam 200 points
Grading Scale
90 % to 100 % = A
80 % to 89 % = B
70 % to 79 % = C
60 % to 69 % = D
59 % and below = F

Class requirements
You are expected to bring the following materials to class everyday:
1. Bring your Agenda
2. Textbook (covered)
3. Graph Composition grid book
4. Mechanical pencil / pencils
5. Eraser
6. Notebook (3-ring, with 3 dividers: Assignment Sheets, Quizzes, & Tests, Projects
6. Scientific Calculator (Highly recommended)
Attendance: If you do not attend on a regular basis it will be impossible for you to successfully
master the concepts to be covered this semester.
Tardiness: The school tardy policy will be strictly enforced. Parents will be contacted after the
third tardy and referrals will be sent to the counselor and dean.
Grades will be posted periodically, as they are updated. Grades are computerized and mistakes
can be made. I highly advised you to keep all your work in your Notebook. MISTAKES WILL
NOT BE CORRECTED UNLESS YOU HAVE EVIDENCE TO BACK UP YOUR CLAIM.

o Walk in quietly and fill out planner
o Be prepared for class before entering room
o Sharpen pencil before class begins
o Begin Warm-up and put homework on desk

During class
o Stay in seat
o Participate in activities
o Complete and turn in YOUR work
o Be respectful of classmates, materials, and adults
o Raise your hand

End of class
o Clean up your area
o Put notebook away neatly
o Wait at your seat for the teacher to dismiss the class
Student Planner (Agenda)
 You must bring and fill out planner everyday
 Passes to leave the class (bathroom, nurse, library, and office) are in the planner
 Students can not leave without the planner passes
End of period:
The bell, buzzer, or chime at the end of the period or day is a signal for the teacher not for
the students. The signal indicates that instruction has come to an end. The signal does
not dismisses the class, I dismiss the class.
