The Emory Pre-College Program gives rising juniors and seniors in high school a glimpse of academic and

The Community of Scholars program is a rigorous college-credit summer program designed for students entering
their junior and senior years of high school. The program offers students the chance to broaden their
understanding of international relations by enrolling in a three-credit college class designed just for them.
Community of Scholars will introduce students to the advancing field of global affairs through college-level
coursework. Instructors provide dynamic lectures and engage students in discussions as well as simulations,
such as a mock UN debate. Students will visit government agencies and non-profit organizations to see how

summer 2012. BLIPS is an eight-week internship that provides high school juniors with the opportunity to work
with world-class scientists or engineers on projects related to the Laboratory’s research programs. Assignments
cover a range of laboratory tasks and assistance in basic research. Summer 2012 program dates are June 13
through August 3, 2012. Summer interns receive a $2,000 stipend. The application period opens December 5,

Georgetown University - Medical Programs for High School Students

You will be introduced to the traditional disciplines that medical students encounter during their training through a
hands-on laboratory setting in the Georgetown Medical Center. During your eight-day institute, you will get a
snapshot of the Georgetown medical school curriculum and address such topics as human anatomy and
physiology, microbiology and infectious diseases, surgery, cancer, and biomedical ethics. Students will have the
opportunity to work with a patient simulator and focus on some of today's basic medical issues, such as

unique summer program conducted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. One of the
important features of Operation Catapult is the exposure to engineering and applied science through project

The Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) is a four-week residential program for exceptional
young women with strong interests in science, engineering and medicine. Each July, select high school students

Summer Engineering Seminar (SES) at Santa Clara University

The School of Engineering at Santa Clara is pleased to host its 23rd Annual Summer Engineering Seminar for
high school students (Session 1: July 29 - August 2, 2012, Session 2: August 5 - August 9, 2012). This program
provides participants with a chance to explore possibilities of engineering as a career while living in University
residence halls staffed by professors. Workshops in this unique program span several fields of engineering
including: Bio, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. This program is free to those
students selected to participate.
Students are eligible to participate in SES if they have completed their sophomore or junior year of high school by
July 1, 2012 and are interested in exploring the field of engineering and its various disciplines. This program is
introductory in nature and students who have little to no exposure to engineering are preferred. Women and other
underrepresented groups in the field of engineering are highly encouraged to apply. Those entering their senior
year in fall 2012 are given first priority. To apply, you must complete an online application, submit an instructor

John Cabot University is an American university in the heart of Rome, Italy. All students and faculty are invited to
participate. Just apply as a regular Summer II student and sign up for one of the many communication courses
offered. Courses are taught by renowned faculty from the United States, Italy, and Europe. The costs are the
same as JCU's regular summer program with the added bonus that you will be invited to additional social and
