BUS-R03 The Business Side of Social Business
Stuart McRae, Executive Social Business & Collaboration Evangelist, IBM
The key question every Social Business project should be able to answer is: "What problem are we trying to
solve?" and the critical success factor for such projects is whether they succeed in solving that problem. It
could be improving customer service, reducing operational costs, or retaining key employees, but social projects should always start with a business problem - which then provides the basis for defining the business
case, where the return on investment going to come from and what "success" looks like. This needs to be
followed by a business adoption plan - otherwise the problem will not be solved. What cultural, technical,
organisational or process obstacles need to be removed to make the project a success? Demonstrable success leads to the next project, so that over multiple iterations the organisation becomes a nimble, transparent, engaging, social business, delivering an exceptional experience to its customers, partners, employees ...
and shareholders. Come along to this session to hear how to put the Business into Social Business.

Stefan Schmitt, IBM WebSphere Portal Architect
What does it mean to your B2B and B2C sites taking advantage of heavy traffic driven from 250 million active facebook® users?
Information cross pollination between social networking sites and Enterprise portals lead to a win-win story.
With 250+ million users and 15+ K sites already integrated and growing every day, facebook© is one of the
most sought after platform in the internet community. So far this type of integrations are only adopted mostly
by custom websites and less frequently by Enterprise portals like WebSphere Portal because of perceived
complexity.
Join us to know how and where WebSphere Portal fits in this whole paradigm and learn about a generic implementation model for integrating business portals running on IBM WebSphere Portal 7 with facebook©.
This session covers technical details of Websphere Portal, Facebook Connect and Graph APIs to drive
seamless portal integration and demonstrates value of portals in social business. The session will be presented using a live demo.

TECH-D15 Advanced Topics: Developing Exceptional Web Experiences with IBM Web Content Manager
Hauke Juhls, Solution Architect, IBM Software Group
Robert Enright, Northeast IOT, IBM Collaborative Services Technical Sales Specialist
Web sites became mandatory for companies in the late 90s. Today it is not enough to have a
comprehensible web site - a web site needs to make an impact. Apart from the content and the structure of
the information, design and usability are a key differentiator for the web experience. In this lecture we will
show you how to use technologies like Dojo and Ajax together with IBM WebSphere
Portal and IBM Web Content Manager. We will also demonstrate how to interact with social networks to
make your web site known via new channels. This lecture arms the developers with the necessary
knowledge to create Web Content Manager powered pages that really impress their users.
Rob Enright is a Solution Architect with IBM Software Group Services for Lotus (ISSL) focused on IBM Web

some great tips, tricks and best practices.
TECH-D17 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for Portals
William Janssen, Portal Consultant, Funatic B.V.
"Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) covers a wide range of recommendations for making Web
content more accessible. (http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/)
Following these guidelines will make content accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities, and will
also often make your Web content more usable to users in general.
In addition, there are also additional local geographic considerations. For example, the Dutch goverment
made an extension to the WCAG guidelines, and by convention all the dutch goverment sites, hospitals,
schools and other public instances need to obey these guidelines. Similar considerations are underway on a
Pan European level to potentially adopt these extensions. During this session we will present our experiences implementing Accessible portals that meet the accessibilty guidelines. We'll share our approaches,
also “ do's and don'ts” when implementing a WebSphere Portal site capable of complying with the accessibility guidelines.

IBM Web Content Manager and the Integration of External Content Management Systems
Dr. Dieter Buehler, IBM Portal Architect - IBM Web Content Manager, IBM Deutschland Research & Development
One of key principles of IBM Project Northstar vision is that “integration must be easy”. Since its initial release in 2001 IBM WebSphere Portal is one of the leading platforms for web portals. This success story is
also thanks to the capability to integrate well with existing IT infrastructures and services. Hence, in context
of integrating content centric systems like Enterprise Content Management
Systems, Document driven group ware solutions or media libraries, IBM Web Content Manager in combination with IBM Portal provides an ideal basis for developing corresponding integrated solutions which can help
to provide mechanisms to align accurate, up-to-date information with the people who affect your business:
-
Accelerate the development and consistent delivery of heterogenous but critical business information
across the enterprise.
Enable organizations to create, maintain and publish all kinds of electronic documents to Internet, intranet, extranet and portal assets in a consistent manner with comprehensive capabilities.
Deliver the right content to specific audiences via a high level of personalization and through a variety of channels.
This session presents and discusses various patterns for integrating external document management systems including approaches leveraging the "Federated Documents" concept, the "Web Content Integrator"
framework, custom workflow actions, and WebDAV driven content deployment and synchronization. In addition, we will also have a short look at new integration features contained in the IBM WebSphere Portal and
Web Content Manager V 8 Beta released earlier this year that leverage the new Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) open standard.
TECH-B13
What's New with High Availability Designs and Implementation with WebSphere Portal
David Eyerman, Executive I/T Architect, IBM
WebSphere Portal systems are mission critical and 24x7 access is standard. That has not changed.
WebSphere Portal has changed and this session will look at the new and emerging ways to implement highly
available portals. This session will review different, proven designs, deployment strategies, clustering approaches, farming techniques, and virtualization strategies for providing highly available portals. The session will cover how to select a design, how to implement it, and more importantly, how to maintain it on a
24x7 basis. The focus of the session will be on that works, how to get it to work, and how to keep it working.
Multiple customer examples, both good and bad, will be used throughout the session.
David Eyerman is an Executive I/T Consultant with IBM Software Services for Lotus (ISSL). He has a long
history with WebSphere Portal. He started with the WebSphere Portal SWAT team in June 2000 and was
with the team when WPS v1.0 was released. He was team lead for the technical team responsible for bringing the product out of the lab and for training the first consultants and customers. He worked with the WebSphere Portal development team as one of the original Deployment and Operations Architects and has
worked with the product management team to launch a number of new products. With ISSL, he concentrates
on large scale Portal integration projects, High Availability designs, and implementation of WebSphere Portal
with Social Software.
TECH-B14 Staging: From Design to Production
Walter Haenel, WebSphere Portal Architect, IBM
Bringing new applications and content into a web Portal often involves external parties and is done in parallel
for multiple projects. Additionally ,there are multiple artifacts that need to be handled, such as portlet code,
themes and skins, portal pages or WCM content. Setting up the right staging environment and selecting the
right strategy and tools to move the artifacts between the stages is essential.
This session gives an overview on WebSphere Portal Staging capabilities and tools, including XMLAccess,
Site Management, Syndication, the Configuration manager, and others.
At the end of the session the attendee will be able to select the right staging strategy for their needs, with an
understanding of the capabilities of the tools and strategy to make well considered plans for best success.

Additional details on select Conference Activities:
Business and Technical Topic Roundtable Lunch Discussions
For many attendees, one of the Conference highlights is the opportunity to participate in topic-based discussions with fellow attendees and customer, IBM partner and product team experts. To facilitate these discussions, the conference is setting aside tables for roundtable discussions over lunch.
Each day, where lunch is served, several tables will be reserved for groups of attendees with similar interests to engage in focused conversations. The tables will be identified as a reserved table by the sign placed
in the middle of the table. The sign will indicate a topic of interest. We encourage attendees with an interest
in that topic area to sit at the table and participate in the discussion. No pre-registration is required.
This is a great way to exchange ideas, learn from the experience of peers, and provide input and suggestions for future directions.
