What is a psychic?

PRIVATE__Psychic Workout: Inner Listening
We are so used to seeing with our eyes and hearing with our ears that we
never awaken our inner perceptions. In this exercise, you'll see how simple
it is to see, feel and hear things from inside your body. Inner Listening is
designed to awaken your inner sight (clairvoyance), your inner hearing
(clairaudience), and your inner knowing (clairsentience). Most of the time,
these senses are working unconsciously. This exercise lets us access these
senses to make conscious observations.
You can do this exercise lying down, sitting comfortably, or standing up.
Experiment by moving to different rooms and changing your position. In fact,
the best way to do this exercise is to do it in unfamiliar places like hotel
rooms, friends' apartments, your family's yard. That way you'll always be
observing new things and you will never be on automatic pilot. The more you
experiment, the more you'll learn.

Begin by closing your eyes
and breathing deeply from your belly. Focus on your breathing and feel it as
the force of life. Feel this from inside your body and inside your head. Feel
your belly rise and fall; feel your lungs expand and contract.
When you are comfortable, bring your attention to the outside of your
body. Slowly explore your body's entire surface. Feel the pressure of your
body on the couch; feel your clothing on your legs; feel the air on your face
and the light on your closed eyes. Note your perceptions.
When you are finished, shift your awareness to the environment just
outside your body. Observe the space directly behind your body, in front of
your body, on each side of you, above and underneath. As you see, feel and
hear the different areas around your body, what are your impressions? Are
certain areas expansive? Light? Thick? I do this by feeling as though I have
a million tiny eyes all over my skin. When I want to observe a particular
area around me, I open the little eyes that correspond with that part of my
skin. After you do this a couple of times, you'll know what works best for
you.
Now for the fun part. When you are ready, extend your awareness to the
whole room around you. Feel the walls, the windows, the doors, the ceiling.
As you slowly examine the room with your inner senses, what do you observe?
Do you see the walls? Does a doorway feel different from a window? When your
inner senses are developed, you can feel the difference between the two. You
don't have to be some psychic genius, just in possession of some
concentration and courage.

For the first few times you do
this, end here. Then, once you are adept at it and your inner awareness is
active and itching to get out of the house, take it for a walk. Expand into
the hallway and out the window, through the ceiling and the floor. What do
you see? What do you feel? What do you hear beyond the four walls? Don't
worry about being right or wrong and don't expect to always observe concrete
things. Much of your perception will be subtle
.
_PRIVATE__AT A GLANCE...
Inner Listening
Step One
Close your eyes and breath deeply from your belly.
Step Two
Focus on your breathing. With your inner senses, observe each
breath and the rise and fall of your belly.
Step Three Bring your attention to the outside of your body. Observe each
part of your body as it comes in contact with the environment.
Step Four
Bring your awareness to the environment just outside your body.
Explore the space behind you, in front of you, around and above you.
Step Five
Expand your awareness to the whole room. Using your inner senses,
see, feel and hear the walls, doors, and windows.
Step Six
End here, or expand into the hallway and out the window, through
the ceiling and the floor. What are you receiving, beyond what your five
senses could normally pick up?
Step Seven End your session by shrinking your awareness back into your body
and using it to create a shield of protection around yourself.
Step Eight Write in your journal.
_PRIVATE__Being Sensitive In
An Insensitive World
By Thomas Eldridge
Reprinted with permission
All your life you thought something was wrong
with you. You were uncomfortable around noise. No one understood your need to
be alone. You seemed to know things without being told. The good news is that
you are not dysfunctional. You are a highly sensitive person (HSP). You are
not the only one; you share this trait with at least 20% of the population
who are referred to as shy or touchy.
Overwhelming Stimuli
HSPs respond strongly to external stimuli and become exhausted from taking in
and processing these stimuli. They are born with a nervous system that may
see, hear, smell or feel more than others. As adults, they may also think,
reflect or notice more than others. The processing is largely unconscious or
body-conscious. HSPs grow up feeling flawed, especially when loud music,
crowds of people, or simply a busy day stresses them. At such times, they
need quiet time alone to recover.
Childhood
Problems can begin in childhood if HSPs' sensitivities are not recognized.
They can be deeply traumatized, even in the womb. They may know it if they
are not wanted. The baby is more peaceful when alone. Certain people terrify
them, toy mobiles upset them, rocking irritates them, and changes in weather
make them restless. They may be colicky, and their digestive systems may not
tolerate food that is too hot or too cold. If the needs of the baby are
ignored, the child becomes insecure.
Sensitive babies are also very creative and aware. They may walk early or
smile a lot. When they begin to crawl they search out ways to alleviate their
apprehension. When old enough, they spend time alone to regain their balance
and energy.
What Works and What Doesn't
This hyper-awareness to their environment makes HSPs cautious. They are not
known for being rash. They foresee the consequences of words and actions. Any
kind of change can be difficult. HSPs can feel happy in their hearts on a
joyous occasion but are often unable to express it. They are seen as
inhibited or unsociable. They do not like social situations and prefer having
deep intimate conversations.
Rather than forcing themselves to fit in and be more outgoing, HSPs need to
learn to appreciate their sensitivity in non-stimulating ways. Developing
boundaries for safety and comfort becomes important. If they are sensitive to
bright fluorescent lights, chemical odors or certain kinds of people, HSPs
need to use their creativity to find ways to avoid such stimuli.
HSPs often try to hide themselves. They rarely appreciate that many other
people share their traits. Sharing quiet meals and talking about spiritual
matters can become intimacy heaven. Accepting that they really do prefer long
walks in nature to tennis matches alleviates stress.
Relationships
HSPs' tendency towards withdrawal presents unique difficulties in
relationships. HSPs turn inwards for protection against what they are
experiencing. Relationships of mutual respect provide a safe, consistent
haven of acceptance. HSPs must be wary of being people-pleasers. A lack of
self-esteem can turn into a habit of satisfying the needs of the other
person. They can end up feeling overwhelmed and alone in a relationship they
cannot let go of.
A sensitive person's ability to pick up subtle cues and ambivalence in the
unconscious processes of the other can affect communication in relationships.
Even though they can tune in to what is going on, they either can't say it,
or they blurt out a negative judgment. At these times, they are acting out
their own past experiences of being humiliated for their sensitivities. The
way out of this dilemma is to become more conscious of their habitual
reactions and to take more time out to be alone. They need partners to accept
this strategy. They may require an entire night's sleep to be clear enough to
express how they feel about an issue.
Intimacy
HSPs appreciate intimacy. They actually prefer talking about their feelings
and spirituality but often believe no one else is interested. An open and
sharing relationship - preferably with another HSP - can be of great benefit
in providing awareness of what does and doesn't work. This applies to both
the spiritual-social areas and the physical body.
Entertainment and excitement are not what holds a sensitive relationship
together. HSPs are more interested in deepening their self-awareness and
never become bored of listening to their partner's dreams. A sensitive
partner will notice subtle changes in the other's mood or behavior.
Food and Diet
HSPs are very sensitive to food and physical environments. Food needs to be
looked at from a different viewpoint than the food rules of the government.
Not all foods are going to be equally tolerated by their bodies. Stimulating
substances such as alcohol, coffee, sugar and junk food are usually highly
toxic to an HSP. Diets need to be tailor-made and regularly modified. There
are no right diets that sensitive people can follow permanently. Their level
of sensitivity is anything but static and rigid. It requires a change in
attitude to accept the fascinating refinement process continually being
experienced by their body/mind/spirit. Generally, simple, frequent meals work
best.
Spirituality
Once HSPs stop trying to be like the strong and tough extroverts, they often
develop a keen interest in and gratitude for their consciousness, which
benevolently takes them into unexplored realms. These complex inner realms,
largely avoided or ignored by others, become their individuated paths to
wholeness and happiness.

Aura Exercises
Viewing Other’s Aura
Select a room with an unpatterned wall.
Lighting should be enough to allow the people present in the room to
distinguish the features of the person whose aura is to be viewed.
The viewers should allow their gazes to wander around the head and the rest
of the body.
To enhance the energy in the aura the subject should be instructed to take a
deep breath, being sure to extend the diaphragm as the breath is taken. The
subject then should imagine and will the inhaled breath to the very top of
the head. During this process the subject should relax the stomach muscles.
When the subject has taken the breath and willed it to the top of his head,
viewers should concentrate their sight on the area of the head and
particularly the crown of the head. The aura usually is seen as a
fluctuating light mist or haze.
To further confirm that the energy pull on the aura can be controlled while
the viewers are concentrating on the crown of the head, the subject should
take another deep breath and againg direct this breath to the scalp area.
The viewers then should be able to see the increase in the brightness of the
aura and to be aware of it’s fluctuation under the control of the will.
The subject should now extend his hand, palm facing the viewers, fingers
pointed toward the ceiling. A deep breath should be taken as before, but
this time the subject should imagine the breath concentrated in the hand.
Viewers are instructed to be aware of the aura and it’s fluctuation,
particularly at the fingertips.
Staring is not necessary and not encouraged. If a viewer has any doubt about
what he is observing he should avert his eyes for a moment and then look
again at the subject.
The ability to see colors in the auric field may be immediately present in a
viewer or may be developed with practice.
Ask the subject to silently express sadness in his being. Observe.
Ask the subject to silently express great joy, exhilaration in his being.
Notice how the aura changes.
An easy experiment to give evidence that the aura has mass can be performed
with the assistance of a large magnet.
A person should be selected to stand near the subject, holding the magnet in
his hand. The magnet should be held approximately one and a half to two feet
from the subjects body.
The subject again takes a deep breath and the viewers should pay particular
attention to the area where the magnet is held. The aura will run to the
magnet.
Viewing your own aura
Select a room with a mirror opposite a neutral wall. The bathroom in most
houses or apartments works very well for this purpose.
Turn off the light in the room being used for the experiment, making sure
that a light outside the room emits enough light so that you can distinguish
your own features in the mirror.
Take a deep breath and imagine the breath filling the head.
You should be quickly aware of the aura in the head area.
An additional breath may be taken and again directed to the head to increase
the intensity of the auric field and make its fluctuations more pronounced.
As in viewing the aura of others, your own aura will appear as a light mist
or haze.
Color discrimination of the aura may be possible immediately or will develop
with practice.
The Human Aura
As you gaze at people in public or private with eyes attuned to spiritual
vision, you will see the colors, forms and conditions of the aura, or
surrounding field of high frequency mental vibrations.
Intensity and strength of aura reveals a magnetic, healthy person with a
developed will. While experts sometimes disagree regarding auric colors, the
following may be said to fairly represent informed opinion:
Red –
Positive: In its bright positive shades: action, energy release,
dynamic forces.
Negative: Darker shades: anger, irritability, sensuousness and
lustfulness.
Blue –
Positive: the mentality, and in deeper shades, the sould
mind; bright blue, a happy alert mentality.
Negative:melancholia, despondency or depression, the “am I blue?”
type of feeling.
Yellow –
Positive: The emotions and feelings, a capacity for intensity and
depth of feeling.
Negative:fear, cowardice and similar negative emotions.
green –
Positive:sympathy, attunement with nature, animals and with
humanity, a propensity of healing, sometimes to material abundance.
Negative:jealousy, envy and similar restricitive emotions.
violet –
Positive:aspiration to God consciousness, the desire to
unfold and progress spiritually, to experience and enjoy the beautiful divine
side of life.
orange –
Positive:love of people, sociability, tendency of extroversion,
capacity for salesmanship.
Negative:untrustworthiness, capacity for deceit in human
relationships, perhaps a misogynist, one who dislikes his fellow beings.
Rose pink –
Positive:cheerfulness despite possible adversities, one who
loves laughter and the brighter side of life and enhances it by effort.

“No psychic power can be used in the right way unless it is used in love, by
love.” Torkom Saradarian in Breakthrough to Higher Psychism
Purpose: To recognize and further develop the connection with each student’s
inner guidance by expanding consciousness, worlds to serve mankind and
increase creativity.
We will be exploring and expanding physical/sensory experiences in an effort
to enrich the corresponding nonphysical senses.
Five Sensory Senses:
Hearing, Sight, Smell, Taste, Touch
Definition of Intuition:
Intuition is the conduit the soul uses to connect with the personality. It
is a clear knowing from the soul level that is telepathically brought into
conscious awareness. From the personality level, intution is a mode of
perceiving. This direct soul to personality communication is experienced as
a spontaneous response of absoute knowingness.
From the Mikel Institute Glossary
Chakra Centers: Actual vortices of force existing in the etheric bodies of
human beings which correspond to diffferent levels of consciousness and
control the physical condition of the area of the body which they influence.
Clairaudience: French. Literally means clear hearing. The experience of
receiving paranormal information through auditory impressions.
Clairesentience: A vacet of clairvoyance. Psychic perception by sensing
conditions that pertain to communicating entities.
Clairvoyance: Comes from French and translates clear seeing. An awaremenss
of some objective event or object without the use of the five physical
senses.
The perception of a person, object, place or event without the use of the
physical organs, without actually being there and seeing or hearing them.
Extrasensory knowledge about material objects or events not obtained from
another animate mind.
Parapsychology: Greek prefix “para” literally means along side, beside or
beyond. Beyond psychology. Psychology is the science of the mental
processes and behaviors. The scientific, statistical, experimental approach
to extrasensory phenomena. Parapsychology is placed within the framework of
science.
Precognition: The ability to perceive and know the future without the aid of
sensory clues or inferences.
Psychic: Greek. Psyche means “soul”. Nonphysical phenomena that are
extrasensory in nature. Behavior that cannot be explained by what we
currently know scientifically.
Psychokinesis (PK): Mind over matter.
material course of events mentally.
The ability to affect objects and the
Psychometry: Greek psyche (soul) and metron (measure). The ability to

called object reading.
Also
Telepathy: Greek tele (at a distance) and pathos (feeling). Feeling at a
distance. Mind communicating with mind – an extrasensory experience.
One manifestation of the collective phenomena that parapsychologists refer to
as ESP. It involves information received by a subject (percipient, recipient
ore receiver) from an agent (transmitter or sender) apparently through some
type of “mind to mind” contact.
Direct communication of thoughts and feelings from mind to mind without using
the senses. Ideas, feelings, and words are transferred mentally. Distance
seems to have little or no effect on telepathic abilities.
Pg 6
Psychic Hearing
Characteristics of people strong in psychinc hearing:
These people tend to have strong mental energy. They may be a little
overwhelming in their interactions with others because they are mentally
alert and quick to react.
Their initiative leads them to new opportunities. They do not wait for
things to happen, they make them happen. They are the early birds and the
go-getters.
People strong in psychic hearing like to have clear exact and direct
communication with others. They persistently pursue the matter until all the
issues are understood.
People strong in psychic hearing tend not to stay depressed for long. Often
just a single word or thought will give them the hope they need and psychic
hearing provides the perfect channel for such words or thoughts.
People strong in psychic hearing are very analytical in their approach to
life. They may not be sensitive to feeling issues. If they think they are
not understood or that they don’t understand, they tend to turn up their
“personality volume”.
People strong in psychinc hearing want to understand everything thouroughly.
Everything includes other people, sitautions and events.
Advantages:
--Good for getting specific answers to questions
--Good for getting key guidewords
--Good for understanding and analyzing a problem
--Best psychic sense for thought projection
--Can hear when someone is lying to them
--Least likely to experience psychic overload
--Good at being direct, uncomplicated initiators
--Good at organizing detail
--The best at receiving and understanding specific psychic information
pg 7
Disadvantages:
--One of the slower psychic senses
--What is received can be confused with one’s own thoughts
--Easily doubts his/her psychic potential and talks self out of it.
--Can be over analytical and ask too many questions
--Can have trouble trusting feelings and intuition
--Can be least sensitive to psychic subtleties
--The hardest psychic sense to develop
Excerpt from the Women’s Comfort Book:
A personal Sanctuary
What is it?
We all need a space we can call our own. A private territory where we can
cherish ourselves without fear of being censored. A place where we can read
books, meditate, and work in our journals.
Excerpt from the Women’s Comfort Book:
A personal Sanctuary
What is it?
We all need a space we can call our own. A private territory where we can
cherish ourselves without fear of being censored. A place where we can read
books, meditate, and work in our journals. A wall to hand nurturing art and
affirmations on. A view, a fireplace, soft colors, comfortable furniture….
Sounds heavenly, but the reality is often small children, crowded apartments,
and not enough money. How can we create a space that satisfies our need for
privacy?
You Need:
Your journal and your basket of art supplies
Home magazines and design books
Whatever else you need will depend upon what your budget allows and what your
fantasies require.
When To Do It:
If you feel you have no space to call your own.
When you feel restricted from experinmenting with self-nurturing activities,
for example, meditating because you don’t have the space to practice in.
If you crave privacy.
What To Do:
Fantasy Sanctuary
Put physical and monetary considerations aside for a moment. Open your
journal and arrange your supplies nearby. This has nothing to do with your
artistic abilities.
Instant Privacy
A walkman gives you a world unto yourself. You can use one when you need
prvacy at home, on a plane, or even at work. Make a comfort tape.
Outside Your House
What about the garden, your garage, your car? A library can be a good place,
especially a corner carrel. One idea is to have a sanctuary both inside and
outside your home. The key is to pick a place that you can easily and
consistently visit.
A comfort box
For a variation on, or in addition to, your personal sanctuary, you could
collect comfort things in a special box. Children’s books, a stuffed animal,
your art supplies: whatever you use to make yourself feel good. Then when
you’re ready to nurture yourself, your supplies are easily available to
inspire you. You could consider decoration your box with a comfort collage.
A forgiveness Ritual
What is it?
Forgivness is powerful stuff. We all have been hurt and we all have hurt
others. Our lives are littered with should haves, could haves, and if onlys.
This emotional garbage plugsour hearts and minds and makes us very
uncomfortable. Anxiety and guilt plague us.
By practicing a simple ritual, we can get the juices of our spirit flowing
again. We can unblock potent energy. As a regular spiritual practice,
forgiveness helps us to be more loving, flexible and understanding.
You’ll Need:
Your imagination.
A body of water. A calm ocean, lake or widerness pond is ideal.
swimming pool or bathtub works fine.
However a
When to do it:
When you are harboring resentment toward a friend or lover even after you
have talked it out.
If you often find yourself saying things like, “I wish I’d done that,” or “IF
only I would have”.
If you can’t forgive yourself for a mistake, mishap, or painful event.
What to do:
Forgiveness Baptism
Decide on a time on or near the full moon when you can privately visit a body
of water or a swimming pool. You can also do this as a visualization,
without water.
Begin by focusing on your breath. Feel how easily it glides in and out of
your body. Imagine your breath moving throughout your body, easing every
area of tension it encounters. Breathing deeply, walk slowly toward the
water. Stop to gaze up at the moon. Feel the calm energy of the moonlight
finding its way deep into your soul. The moonlight and your slow deep
breaths mingle and relax your body completely.
You reach the water. The moonlight gives the water magical powers tonight.
Disrobe and slip in. Cup your hands together, fill them with water, and pour
the water on yourself. With each touch of the magic water say, “I forgive
myself”. “I forgive myself for (fill in what you need to forgive yourself
for hurting someone you love, a mistake, regrets). I am now releasing my
remorse and sorrow. I forgive myself.”
After you have forgiven yourself for everything you can remember, visualize
someone who has hurt you. Splash water at this image, saying “I forgive
you”. Imagine others who have hurt you. Release them by anointing their
images with water too.
When you are finished, glide underwater. As the magic water closes over your
head, say to yourself, “I am cleansed, I am free”.
Walk out of the water and dress. Takea moment to gaze at the moon and to be
thankful for your new peace. Breathing deeply, return the way you came.
Light Prayer
I am the light.
The light is within me.
The light moves throughout me.
The light surrounds me.
The light protects me.
I am the light.
Soul Letter Technique
(an empowering process of forgiveness)
Relax – sit at table or desk undisturbed.
Place new white candle in candle holder over tin foil or cookie sheet.
Take a deep breath and be totally in the present moment.
Light candle with the intention of forgiving this individual.
Begin writing in letter form on unlined paper of a light color—preferably
white.
Pour out all emotions and thoughts that flow.
When feeling complete with step 6, STATE:
“I forgive you for all that has hurt me in the past. PLEASE forgive me of
anything I may have done or said to hurt you.”
“I release you to your highest good in the name of love.”
Signed, _____________________
Reread if necessary – otherwise burn letter in flame of candle – ashes will
fall upon foil or cookie sheet. Process emotions at this time – when
feeling.
Completely dispose of candle and ashes. NOTE: do not blow out candle flame –
snuff it out with your fingers or snuffer.
Soul Letters are from soul to soul and are effective in many issues of
healing. It can be used for loved ones in the spirit world as well. This
truly erases your karma and most often changes the energy of the
relationship.
This year
Mend a quarrel.
Seek out a forgotten friend.
Write a love letter.
Share some treasure.
Give a soft answer.
Encourage youth.
Keep a promise.
Find the time.
Forgive an enemy.
Listen.
Apologize if you were wrong.
Think first of someone else.
Be kind and gentle.
Laugh a little.
Laugh a little more.
Express your gratitude.
Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and the wonder of the earth.
Speak your love.
Speak it again.
Speak it still once again.

How to evaluate spiritual guidance
By Corinne McLaughlin
Guidance from the soul or higher spiritual planes: Guidance from the
subconscious or astal planes of desire and illusion: For the good of the
whole For the good only of the one receiving it (and sometimes at the expense
of others) Focuses on helping others and service to society Flatters the ego
of the receiver and creates glamour, specialness and separation Creates love
and inspiration and empowers the receiver. May create fear, negativity or
feelings of unworthiness. Suggests or advises only; never demands surrender
of one’s free will; encourages use of one’s own intuition as guide. Often
demands obedience and surrender of one’s will Presents new information
relevant to the receivers next step Presents a rehash of old platitudes that
can be found anywhere and are usually generalities rather than specifics
Usually is short and to the point Often is long and flowery and/or confusing
and contradictory Never conflicts with ones personal ethics May conflict
with one’s personal ethics. Cautions to employ:
Use discernment; just because guidance is from a non-physical source does not
automatically guarantee that it’s any wiser.
Examine the life of the person receiving the guidance to determine if they
are living the spirit of the guidance received and have a relatively pure
life, free from anger, fear, manipulation of others, etc.
Use your own intuition and common sense to evaluate the guidance received.
Never become dependant on someone elses guidance or surrender your free will.
Get a reality check from others on your guidance and that of others.
Maintain a balanced life of involvement in the world and with others, not
dwelling only in the invisible worlds as an escape.
Take full responsibility for your guidance – instead of an attitude of “just
following orders” when its something you don’t agree with.
Realize the point of guidance is not just to receive special information, but
to learn to think as the sould does and as higher spiritual beings do.
Discovering your Fears and Beliefs
This exercise will put you in touch with your limiting beliefs and negative
thought patterns. First, write the following questions in your journal,
leaving space for the answers. Don't look at the page filled with blank
spaces and go nuts. There's no need to address them all in one session.
1) What are my beliefs about my love life?
2) What are my beliefs about my career?
3) What are my beliefs about myself?
4) What are my fears about my love life?
5) What are my fears about my career?
6) What are my fears about myself?
If you'd like, you can list additional questions concerning certain issues or
problems you are having: your relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend,
your weight, a special work project, whatever. This exercise works like a
charm for anything and everything.
To begin, close your eyes, breath deeply, and quiet your mind. Concentrate on
the first question on your list. With your eyes closed, repeat the question
in your head a few times. Record everything you feel, both your negative and
positive feelings. Don't judge yourself, edit your words, or think too much.
If you are hesitant and nothing comes into your head, you are letting your
brain get in the way. Don't despair! The first question is the toughest. Just
begin writing and the block should go away. When you have written everything
that comes to mind, go to the next question and repeat the process.
When you have done this for all your questions, reread each of your answers.
Leave the positive beliefs alone, but for each negative belief, go back and
ask yourself the big one: Where did that belief originate? Get into a deep
state and let the truth flow. Was it when you were six and your mother yelled
at you? Was it when you failed your first chemistry exam? Was it when you
broke up with your first boyfriend/girlfriend? In your deep state, the
origins of these beliefs should be as apparent as the beliefs themselves.
Write everything down.
Once you have your negative beliefs and their origins on paper, look at them
for what they truly are. This will take some quality thinking. Since you now
know what caused you to take on these beliefs in the first place, you can
separate the original experience from the belief you carry with you and
create a new belief that will better suit your success. To do that, take a
moment to figure out what you would like to believe about your love life,
career or yourself. Write these beliefs down.
Put your new list of beliefs everywhere--on your refrigerator door, your
phone, and your bathroom mirror. Begin applying these new beliefs in your
life, one experience at a time, until you are doing it as second nature. This
may take some getting used to but with enough reminders lying around it
becomes a lot easier.

Realize the point of guidance is not just to receive special information, but
to learn to think as the sould does and as higher spiritual beings do.
How to have Visions
Copyright 1999, Julia Jablonski
Psychic ability is something we all possess to greater or lesser degrees, and
it's something that can be consciously developed. Some people do have a an
intuitive "gift," just as others may have gifts for art, mathematics,
athletics, etc... Through focused desire and concentration, however, we can
all enhance the abilities we were born with.
Meditation is the most commonly prescribed practice for spiritual development
and increased psychic awareness. The word "meditation," however, tends to be
daunting to beginners. What is really needed is simply to get quiet and pay
attention. "Visions" and other experiences of extraordinary awareness happen
when we're hyper aware of subtle energies and influences. It has been said
that genius is simply energy focused intensely and consistently on a certain
matter. To become good at perceiving, then, we must practice getting quiet
and paying intense attention to small stimuli and subtle energies.
It's important to note that not everyone is visual by nature. There are three
main modes of perceiving: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Those who are
visual learn best by seeing, and think with pictures in their minds. Those
who are auditory learn best by hearing, and "talk" to themselves more in
their minds. Those who are kinesthetic learn best by doing, and tend to get
"gut" feelings and to process experiences physically through movement or
attention to their physical sensations. Just as we all have five physical
senses, we all perceive through all three modalities, but most of us have a
primary or favored way of perceiving life.
As this article focuses on "visions," we're going to be working with visual
perception. We can begin to "flex" our inner vision through some basic
exercises. We'll begin by better seeing in our minds something in our
physical experience. Pick a simple object like an orange, apple, banana, or
even a book, a shoe, etc... Look around and grab something that "catches your
eye." Now sit in front of the object and study it for a moment. Study its
features, but then "step back" and just take it in as a whole. Now close your
eyes and try to reproduce it mentally. Study it again, and then repeat the
process of envisioning it within. Your inner vision should get crisper.
Now close your eyes and simply envision color. Begin with red, and work your
way up the color spectrum. See a splash of pure red, then imagine two or
three objects that are red, then go back to seeing only the color. Then move
to orange, then yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Take your time and
try to move toward a sense of ease as you visualize the colors and objects.
Now we're going to advance our inner vision skills by picturing someone we're
presently close to. If you have children, you might pick your child's beloved
face, but you can choose anyone you see on a daily basis, as long as it's
someone whose face you know well. Close your eyes and try to recreate his or
her visage in your mind. Spend as long as it takes until you get a crisp
image. You'll find it easier if you try to remember a specific experience and
picture that person as you saw them then.
Now pick a person in your mind who you were once very close to, but whom you
haven't seen for several years. Again, pick someone whose face you once knew
very well, and try to recreate his or her image in your mind. You're likely
to find yourself in a memory to do this, and that is fine. Get a very crisp
image, and then choose someone you've not seen since childhood, and again
recreate a clear image in your mind of this person's face.
Now choose a person you're presently close to but who is at some distance
from you. It may be your mother in a nearby city, a child at school, or even
your sweetheart at work. Hold a vision of his or her face a moment, and then
say to yourself, "Spirit, show me what they're doing." Then trust whatever
pops into your mind. Remember that you're playing, experimenting and
exercising here. Pay attention to what pops in, versus what your rational
mind may reason out. For example, I just said, "Spirit, show me what my
mother is doing," and I saw her reading in her bed. I then looked at the
clock and thought it was too early for her to be in bed yet. There may be a
tendency for you to want to guess first, and base what you see on that. Try
to just allow images to pop up, and don't analyze them for now.
Now that you have an image of someone and what they're doing, ask Spirit what
they're thinking or feeling. Say, "How does this person feel?" As I do this
with my mother, for example, I HEAR, "She's tired, and worried about your
brother." I have no reason to think she'd be worried about my brother; now
I'm starting to get some information that I would never have "guessed" at,
but which must be coming from somewhere.
If you're a very visual person, you may get symbols or other visual
information. For example, you may see a happy face, or you may even see
something like a sunflower or rainbow if you're being told "happy," or a
storm cloud or the color red if the person is angry. At this point, your job
is simply to allow perceptions in, and to ask more and more questions in
order to interpret what you're shown. For example, you might see a sword, and
then you would ask, "Does this mean she's angry?" You might then get a
feeling of no or yes, or you may get other information that helps you to
understand.
You can set up a system with your own higher self for yes/no answers. You
might, for example, assign "to the left" the answer "no," and "to the right"
the answer "yes." Then when you ask a question, if you're kinesthetic you'll
get a feeling of going left or right. If you're auditory, you might hear yes
or no, and if you're visual, you might see a pointer going left or right in
your mind. Use whatever symbol feels right to you.
Now ask a simple question. You might ask, "Will it rain tomorrow?" and see
what kind of answer you get. It's better, however, to ask a question you care
about, for there will be more energy in the answer. However, if you're very
attached to the answer being what you want it to be, you may have trouble
remaining objective.
Play with this approach, and allow yourself to get creative with it.
Improvise, experiment, and above all, have fun with it. The bumpy and
harrowing road is the one where we try to will ourselves into greater
awareness. The smooth and easy path is one where we simply allow ourselves to
play, and to trust what we're shown. Success is much easier to attain when we
relax and allow.
Of course, your beliefs and expectations will affect your experiences here,
as they do in every aspect of your life. If you don't believe it's possible
to develop psychically, you'll find it difficult or impossible. If, however,
you believe anything is possible with the proper focus and energy, and you
believe in magic, magic will flow over, under, around and through to find
you.
Psychic Hearing
Characteristics of people strong in psychinc hearing:
These people tend to have strong mental energy. They may be a little
overwhelming in their interactions with others because they are mentally
alert and quick to react.
Their initiative leads them to new opportunities. They do not wait for
things to happen, they make them happen. They are the early birds and the
go-getters.
People strong in psychic hearing like to have clear exact and direct
communication with others. They persistently pursue the matter until all the
issues are understood.
People strong in psychic hearing tend not to stay depressed for long. Often
just a single word or thought will give them the hope they need and psychic
hearing provides the perfect channel for such words or thoughts.
People strong in psychic hearing are very analytical in their approach to
life. They may not be sensitive to feeling issues. If they think they are
not understood or that they don’t understand, they tend to turn up their
“personality volume”.
People strong in psychinc hearing want to understand everything thouroughly.
Everything includes other people, sitautions and events.
Advantages:
--Good for getting specific answers to questions
--Good for getting key guidewords
--Good for understanding and analyzing a problem
--Best psychic sense for thought projection
--Can hear when someone is lying to them
--Least likely to experience psychic overload
--Good at being direct, uncomplicated initiators
--Good at organizing detail
--The best at receiving and understanding specific psychic information
Disadvantages:
--One of the slower psychic senses
--What is received can be confused with one’s own thoughts
--Easily doubts his/her psychic potential and talks self out of it.
--Can be over analytical and ask too many questions
--Can have trouble trusting feelings and intuition
--Can be least sensitive to psychic subtleties
--The hardest psychic sense to develop
Telepathy 101
By Gary Jennings
This exercise requires a partner. Stand or sit facing each other. Have your
partner close his/her eyes and hold out her hands with the palms up. Take
your index finger and move it just above the palm of her hand, without
touching the skin. Repeat this on both of your partner's hands, and as you
are doing this, tighten you index finger up by contracting the muscles. Try
to concentrate on the tip of your finger and imagine that it is drawing a
shape on your partner's palm. The combination of the contracted muscles in
your finger and your mental concentration will create a small electrical
tingle on your partner's palms.
As you experiment, ask your partner which palm you are working on. If your
partner can not at first tell you, then tell her to open her eyes and look.
With her eyes open, repeat the experiment, tracing over her palms as you did
when her eyes were closed. Repeat this a few times, then have her close her
eyes again and feel for the slight tingle of the E.P. signals. The first time
you attempt this exercise, the results may be hard to see, but continue
working with it and your results should improve.
Psychic Workout: Relaxing With Universal Energy
In this workout, Dr. Universe is going to give you your very own private
consultation. You are going to spend this session relaxing, so I'd suggest
lying down flat on your back to begin. But you're the boss, so if you want to
do it any other way, feel free to get creative.
Find a place where you will be comfortable for the next 10 or 15 minutes,
then close your eyes and breath deeply from you belly. Visually create a ball
of golden or white liquid light four or five feet above your body. It is made
of pure psychic or universal energy. It doesn't have to be ball-shaped; you
can make it an angel, a star, or any other form you identify with. Focus your
concentration on this ball of light for a few moments while breathing deeply.
_INCLUDEPICTURE \d "images/vancort.jpg"__
Visualize a cord extending from the ball of light to a comfortable place on
your body, such as the top of your head, your heart, or your solar plexus.
Throughout this exercise, you will use that cord to pull the universal energy
toward you. Use the light that is coming through the cord to surround
yourself with a warm, protective womb or cloud. Then fill your entire body
with that calming energy. Breathe deeply in and out, and feel the pulsating
energy move through your body.
When you are ready, relax each part of your body in a slow wave. Start with
your toes, your feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, pelvis, hips, stomach,
ribs, chest, through the arms, elbows, hands and fingers. Back to your
shoulders, neck, jaw, eyes... all the way to the top of your head. Spending
one deep breath on each body part, focus the light directly into that place.
Feel the nourishing light dissolving stress.
When you have gone through each body part and completed the relaxation, you
can stay in this quiet place for as you like. Keep pulling down the light
from your cord. When you are ready to end your session, use the universal
energy to create a protective bubble around you and dissolve the cord. After
you have done this exercise a few times, your unconscious will automatically
know which body parts to send energy to. So instead of moving consciously
through your whole body, your basic intention to create a deep relaxed state
will do the work for you. In a wave of psychic energy, it will wash over all
the body parts and you will relax in a matter of moments..
One of my clients tried this exercise excitedly, and immediately fell asleep.
In fact, every time he does it he still falls asleep. You have to understand
that this guy is an insomniac. It just goes to show you, psychic energy knows
what you need. And obviously he needs sleep! If you find yourself falling
asleep, try stepping up your active concentration as you go through the
different body parts. This is a relaxing and focusing exercise. Yes, you are
relaxing, but your mind is actively focused on molding and sending the energy
to specific places while your body is focusing on deep breathing. This takes
energy and inner concentration.
Living the Metaphysical Life: Enhance your Prosperity
Consciousness

While reading through the stack of magazines at the neighborhood coin laundry
recently, I came across an especially provocative and interesting list. It
was a study of each of the world's nations in terms of desirability and
standard of living. Of course, the United States was number one, with Canada
and Australia as two and three respectively. Way down at the bottom were the
poor, miserable African nations of Afghanistan and Chad, while the USSR and
other Eastern European nations hovered near the middle of the list. The study
included a sort of graph, showing how just owning a pair of shoes can make
one a wealthy man or woman in some countries, while the wealth we take for
granted, such as hot and cold water, plenty of food, and 24 hour TV and radio
entertainment are perhaps not fully appreciated by many of us.
It is important to remember spiritual teachings regarding prosperity. What we
focus on we make real, and it is very dangerous to fear not having enough or
to repeatedly state that we're "broke." What we imagine we can make real, and
the sophistication of our minds can make our thoughts more powerful and more
energized than we might consciously realize. Thinking and speaking in a
positive way about our lifestyles, jobs, etc... is an essential step in
metaphysical wisdom. As the Bible says, "What I have feared, hath come upon
me."
To develop prosperity consciousness, first remember that prosperity adores a
prosperous attitude. Instead of complaining about writing checks for monthly
bills, start by giving thanks that you have the funds to cover them. Arrange
the bills in your wallet with the highest denomination on top, ones at the
bottom, then fold them toward you saying this simple but effective blessing:
"Divine Love through me blesses and increases all that I receive." Dollar
bills are rich in metaphysical symbolism; they represent energy and effort.
It can be surprisingly effective to try this little blessing technique.
Experiment and see!
Meanwhile, stop thinking of yourself as broke. Even kings and queens a few
generations back lacked the comforts that we have in even a modest home in
the United States and Canada. Try soaking in a scented bubble bath and
playing soft soothing music in the background at the end of a challenging
day. Revel in the luxury and richness of this inexpensive pleasure. Upon
enjoying fresh, hot coffee or tea in the morning before work, appreciate the
ease and richness of this relatively inexpensive pleasure. Overcome the
poverty consciousness that imprisons so many of us by applying a few basic
steps. These are common to a variety of spiritual schools of thought and
self-help courses, and will really work if you give them a chance.
1. Decide what you really want, then write down your goals. Make a simple and
specific list. Defining what we want is essential to achieving it. Statistics
quoted by the Silva Mind Control teachings tell us that among a group of
Harvard University graduates, those with written and defined goals were far
and away more successful financially than their counterparts who tended to
drift.
2. Develop faith and confidence. A negative attitude is dangerous. Many
people who experienced lack during the years of the Great Depression became
misers, unable to enjoy the fruits of their labors in later years. Charles
Dicken's classic tale of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol illustrates how Scrooge
changed his life and actually became richer after loosening his purse
strings. Keep the money flowing outward, within reasonable bounds of course.
Use it to bring pleasure to yourself and others. Prosperity adores a
prosperous attitude. One economist recently suggested that the way to avoid a
recession was for all of us to spend everything we have. For example, if you
spend a few dollars for a meal out and leave a tip for the waitress, she
might spend the money on a new pair of shoes at the store where your brother
is a clerk. Then, earning commission on the sale, he'd have extra money to
circulate. You get the idea.
3. Persistence is important in building prosperity. Focus on how this trait
can enhance respect and power.
4. Use your imagination and think of ways to enhance prosperity. Try to turn
a hobby into a second income or use your insight at the office to make
significant improvements. Creativity is a gift that can be either positive or
negative, depending on its slant. A little research uncovers incredible
success stories through the use of a creative inspiration. Maybe you can be
another Colonel Sanders or Coca Cola entrepreneur.
5. Organize for prosperity. Do some career research and planning, prepare
some long term goals. Form a "master mind" group and meet to help each other
imagine and envision the goals. Do this together over a period of several
months and you'll be delighted at the results. The group's focused good will
and energy is a powerful healing tool in overcoming the bonds of poverty. A
few months back six friends and I began using a basic metaphysical formula
for master minding with a group. We've all enjoyed a renewed richness and
success in our lives. We sat in a circle, then each took a turn describing to
the group what we wanted, while everyone expressed positive thoughts and
visions of the desired result. I remember one man talking about replacing his
old blue Oldsmobile with a new silver LTD. Last week he drove over in the new
auto, just as we'd visualized it. The power for good in this simple technique
is chilling and provocative. Experiment and see!
Poverty is not a virtue, it is a sin! Divine intelligence put the riches of
the world near us to be appreciated and enjoyed. The true words of the axiom
"money is the root of all evil" were really "lack of money is the root of all
evil!" So use metaphysical techniques to be merry and enjoy. Carpe Diem!
_PRIVATE__Intuition: Psychic Perception, Spiritual Insight, and
Inspiration
Copyright Sanderson Beck, 1996
Above the rational mind and below the soul
realm is an intermediary plane of consciousness that I call the intuitional.
It is very difficult to characterize this realm, because it transcends mental
concepts but is still not a realm of being like the soul. The intuitional
plane is the "highest" or most subtle and universal part of the created
worlds. Although God and souls are the truly creative agents of the universe,
we could say that the process of creating begins with the intuition and then
moves to concepts, feeling responses, images and shapes, and finally physical
manifestation. Thus intuition is a key to initiating creativity.
Because the intuitional realm transcends the mind, it is often thought of as
the unconscious. Yet we might use an analogy to attempt to extrapolate some
understanding of this lofty realm. As mental concepts abstract, unify, and
generalize the objects and patterns of physical, astral, and emotional
experience, the intuitional perceives and organizes the patterns of the mind.
Jung used the term "archetypes of the collective unconscious" to refer to
some of the deep and universal mental patterns he observed in various
cultures. The patterns of the intuitional realm are cosmic archetypes that
can only be understood through holistic synthesis and spiritual perception.
An example of these archetypes would be the cosmic female and male principles
of yin and yang, which have so many analogous meanings and applications.
Other examples might be the perception of the divine principles discussed in
the first part of _HYPERLINK "http://www.san.beck.org/LifeContents.html"__this book._
As a faculty of consciousness, intuition is an inward perception that comes
as a whole in a similar way to sensory perception, except that instead of
integrating various physical objects, intuition integrates sense perception,
astral projections, feelings, and thoughts into a single perception of a
situation. Intuition does not consciously reason with logic in the mind, but
rather directly perceives the vibrations of consciousness outside one's own
mind. Intuition does not just perceive on the intuitional level but can
discover things about the physical world, the astral plane, people's feelings
and ideas by using psychic perception. Intuition can be flooded with creative
inspiration directly from Spirit.
Psychic Perception
Indian philosophy formalized and many people have observed a "sixth sense"
and "third eye." Perhaps the best explanation of nonphysical perception is
that consciousness "tunes in on" the vibrations of the physical, astral,
emotional, mental, or intuitional consciousness just as our ears perceive
sound vibrations and our eyes light waves. Psychics describe how they "pick
up" vibrations or different frequencies of consciousness. Because these
skills are difficult to perfect, there are often errors; but there have also
been so many successful perceptions that the preponderance of evidence
demonstrates the validity of these abilities.
Of course for most people, psychic awareness is a potential only occasionally
used. Yet quite often people say, "I had a feeling about that." This shows
that intuition works closely with our emotions. We talk about intuitive
feelings. However, strong emotions and active thoughts tend to interfere with
psychic awareness. Intuition seems to be most available when our thoughts and
feelings are calm, quiet, relaxed, clear, and neutral. Some psychics, like
Edgar Cayce, even go into a trance in order to bring forth clairvoyance,
clairaudience, spiritual attunement or contact with other spirits. They may
do this consciously or unconsciously by becoming a medium.
Under the influence of hypnosis, people have been able to remember much more
than in their conscious state of mind, occasionally even perceiving
experiences from previous incarnations. Such perceptions could not be stored
in the brain originally and therefore must come from the soul record. In the
last century there has been an explosion of these types of new knowledge and
experience, and much research and experimentation needs to be done in these
new fields. Unfortunately, most traditional scientists have been reluctant if
not hostile to exploring and investigating psychic phenomena with scientific
detachment and open-mindedness.
I believe the philosophy presented here opens up these fields for study
because of the basic premise that the soul as Spirit can know anything.
However, we must be careful with psychism because of the ethical
implications. Psychic knowledge, like any other knowledge, can be used or
misused. Thus psychic perception is the lower side of the intuition, and one
needs spiritual understanding of values and wisdom in applying those values
in order to use this gift well.
Spiritual Insight and Inspiration
Spiritual intuition is a vital component of wisdom because it includes both
psychic perception of what is and also insight or good judgment as to what is
best. I believe that spiritual awareness intuitively understands the divine
principles, and in any situation, no matter how complex it is, can
immediately grasp the solution that is best for all by means of spiritual
guidance from within. I also believe that the key to receiving these insights
is loving everyone unconditionally. When our love is flowing our hearts open
and the answers come to us spontaneously. Love for everyone enables us to
transcend the biases of our egos and self-interests so that we can perceive
the whole situation as it really is. If we truly care about the people in a
situation, our consciousness will naturally move toward understanding and
loving action. Because our love is beneficial to everyone and everything, the
entire universe will be inclined to help us.
However, karmic patterns, both individual and collective, will have to be
faced, confronted, and overcome. These conflicts with the divine and loving
will, caused by fear, insecurity, hatred, selfishness, etc., often cause
people to compromise or even betray the spiritual values intuitively
perceived. Other "reasons" are thought of to justify our actions. Being true
to spiritual loving requires integrity and courage as well as intuition.
Inspiration is a blessing from God that floods our consciousness with joy,
love, peace, and intuitive wisdom. When we place ourselves in a position to
serve and minister to people, divine energies and guidance become more
available to us to channel them for the benefit of others as well as
ourselves. We may thus be an instrument for the blessings others receive. Any
effort or communication we make that is intended to do good and lift
awareness toward truth, justice, beauty, joy, etc. can be an inspiration to
people. When we see someone acting on their spiritual intuition unselfishly,
it can inspire us to do so also. Ultimately inspiration fills us with Spirit
and makes us an instrument of divine will.

What exactly is a psychic, anyway?
There are many answers to that question. What most people think of as a
psychic is really only one form of psychic: a clairvoyant (see below). I
really don't like the term psychic, and rarely use it, as there are so many
misconceptions about the word. A psychic is anyone with intuitive abilities
who can use those abilities to help someone else with a problem by offering
insight gained with intuition that would not otherwise be available to the
person seeking help. This can be done in many forms, using many methods and
many tools (see below).
A psychic has an extra-ordinary helping tool in his/her own intuition. Often,
when we are wrapped up in our own dilemmas and problems, we are unable to use
our own intuition to help guide us. Or perhaps our own intuitive gifts are
not very strong. At times of crisis or change, or at times when you wish for
greater self-understanding, you may want to consult a psychic to assist you
in understanding what has happened, what is happening, and what is likely to
happen in the future.
A psychic is not generally a "mind-reader". Mind reading is called telepathy,
and although many psychics may be able to do this, it is considered rude and
invasive of privacy to read someone else's thoughts without being invited to.
This is one reason that if you are skeptical or presenting a "you-tell-me,
you're-the-psychic" attitude, a psychic may be unable to read you. You are
not willing to allow yourself to be read.
What psychics do is perceive energies, energy fields, helping entities around
you, pictures, images, sounds, or feelings, either directly or through
various tools, that allow them to see answers you may not be able to see for
yourself.
What are Psychic Abilities?
Well, Psychic Abilities are the abilities that let you "know" things, or be
able to "do" things that the average person, it seems, isn't able to do.
Like:
Do you know who's on the phone before answering?
Do you sense when someone close to you is in trouble and feel compelled to
call, only to find out that something *was* wrong, and that it was good you
called?
Do you have dreams, and the events in your dreams come true in real life?
Have you ever known what someone was thinking and were right?
Are you able to finish someone's sentence before they did?
And it was exactly what they were going to say?
Did you ever call someone to have them tell you, "I was just thinking about
you!" or "I was just about to call you!" ? Or have some one call you that you
were just thinking about or about to call?
Can you move physical objects with just your thoughts?
If any of those things have happened to you, then it's possible you have some
psychic abilities. Don't be afraid. Everyone has them to some degree. Others
have a lot of ability and are able to do Psychic Readings, such as Tarot
cards, Runes, Telepathic Readings, and the such. Others, only have a good
intuition. Then there are those that are in between. Most people don't know
they are psychic. But, it is true, we are ALL psychic. The degrees to which
our psychic abilities are, however, are different in everyone. Psychic
ability is not something to be feared. It can help out in great times of
need. Or just provide a calm sense of relief sometimes. In that ALL of us are
psychic, a lot of people don't like to call themselves psychic because of the
connotation it brings on today. Like they are a nut or something that should
be locked up. Well, we shouldn't be locked up. We are not crazy or nuts. We
are Normal! God (God/Goddess/Spirit/The One/The Universe/Universal Life
Force/etc... Whatever you wish to call your Deity) has given us all a
wonderful gift. And it's time we learned how to hone those skills and get
better at them. So, come take a journey with me, as we learn about the skills
and how to get better at them.

Precognition,
knowing in advance what is going to happen, is the most common form of
psychic ability. Premonitions, feelings, or forebordings that something is
about to occur are all forms of precognition.
Clairvoyance
is the ability to see events that are happening in a different location or
seeing events before they happen. Clairaudience is the ability to hear events
happening somewhere else or before they occur. Clairsentience is the ability
to feel events happening elsewhere or before they happen.
Clairvoyants are psychics who see images or pictures. Clairvoyant literally
means "clear-seeing". The clairvoyant psychic must interpret the pictures or
images in light of the questions you are asking the psychic, which is another
reason directly stating your questions is very helpful. If a psychic is
seeing a picture of the Empire State Building, and your question is "Should I
move to New York," the answer is obvious. If, however, your question is about
finding romance, the Empire State Building could represent a potential mate
in New York, or it could represent a tall person that stands out above the
rest. Pictures are often symbolic to clairvoyants, and clarifying your
question helps a clairvoyant determine how to interpret the picture s/he is
receiving.
Telepathy
is the ability to read others' thoughts.
Psychokinesis,
or PK, the ability to exert power over objects by using only your will, is
another form of psychic ability. Examples of PK: bending a spoon without
touching it, or willing dice to roll a chosen number.
Take this simple test to discover your psychic awareness. The object of the
test os to help you understand your psychic potential and to awaken you to
the powers you may not know you possess. There is no right or wrong answers.
Circle the answer that best describes you.
Psychometry
Psychometry. Psychometry is a tool used by many psychics to pick up on the
energy field of the person being read. In psychometry, an object belonging to
the client and usually carried by the client (such as a ring, or keys) is
held in the hand, and a reading is given while holding the object. Again, it
is a tool to help focus the psychic energy and allow it to express in a clear
and accurate manner.
Clairaudients
Clairaudients are psychics who hear voices and sounds which give them
information. The "psychic vs. psychotic" joke is an old one, but generally
psychics hear voices only when they need to, can usually turn them off when
necessary, and are never told by a voice to harm someone else. The voices are
within the context of what they do, and make sense. The voices can come from
guides, or spirit guides, angels if you prefer to believe in them, relatives
of the client who have crossed over, or other entities. The voices could
simply be an "inner voice" imagined spoken out loud. Most of us are familiar
with that little voice in our heads that says "Don't go out with this person,
they'll hurt you," or "Take a different route to work today" -- only to find
out later that we were right about that romantic prospect, or there was an
accident on our regular route to work that day.
Clairsentients
Clairsentients are similar, but don't audibly hear voices or visually see
pictures. They simply feel specific information. A clairsentient may say "I
feel that you are not in the right relationship, that what you really want to
do is pursue your career as a singer, and that you should move to Los
Angeles." The information simply feels right to them.
Experiencing other realities or entites through one or more of the five
senses.

Clairgustance
Awareness of an entity on the other side by the sense of taste.
A sense experienced in the mouth.
It could by a favorite food associated with a deceased entity, or in many
instances the way a deceased person prepared the food to taste.
Empaths
Empaths are similar to clairsentients in using feeling as a psychic tool, but
they are more limited. Empaths are able to use feelings to pick up on what
others are feeling, both emotionally and physically. Think Deanna Troi on
Star Trek: The Next Generation. That's an empath.
summary
Any and all of these types of psychic abilities may occur within an
individual psychic. An empath may also be clairvoyant, but get most
information via empathy, and only occasionally experience clairvoyance. A
clairsentient may occasionally hear information, but mostly receive it
through feelings.
tools
There are numerous tools to focus and develop one's psychic ability. Here are
some of the common ones.
Tarot cards. Tarot is one of the most common tools used by psychics, as it is
easy to learn and conducive to opening up to your intuitive side. See the
Tarot section of this site for detailed information. In addition to the
Tarot, there are numerous other sets of cards around that can be used
similarly. There are past-life cards, dream cards, Native American-oriented
decks, and others. When a psychic reads the cards, s/he is using the cards as
a tool, as a starting point, to express his/her psychic awareness. Just
because one uses cards as a tool does not mean one is a bad psychic. Most
psychics use the cards at some point, on occasion, or even most of the time.
A good Tarot reader is as good as a clairvoyant. It just depends upon what
you are comfortable with and prefer.
Palmistry
Palmistry. Palmistry is an old art that is based on some specific rules, like
astrology, but also has a strong intuitive element to it. It is based upon
specific lines in the hands and their specific properties. Most palmists I
know are also clairvoyants or another type of "pure" psychic, and combine
both.
Astrology
Astrology. Astrology is a separate topic altogether, but I wanted to mention
it here, as there are intuitive astrologers around. Many astrologers use no
other method to read a client other than astrology, but some combine
astrology with other forms of divination, or use their own intuitive
abilities to more precisely read a client's chart.
oracles
Other oracles. Other tools include the I Ching, Runes, and Casting Stones.
See elsewhere on this site for more details on these oracles.
Miscellaneous
Miscellaneous. Almost anything can be used as a tool to invoke psychic
awareness. Ouija boards have been popular for many years, although I
personally don't use them. Tea leaves are another ancient method that's
usually considered too fraught with "superstition" and silliness these days
to be much in use. I have even read shadows on the wall or bubbles in the
bathtub! Anything can be a tool if it helps open up and allow you to use your
psychic awareness.
What should you expect and get from a psychic reading?
If you have followed my advice above and consulted and found a good,
professional psychic, you can expect to pay from $30-$40 (or more) for a
half-hour reading. The rest depends upon the type of psychic s/he is and the
tools s/he uses, as well as your input, questions, state of mind and level of
understanding.
An average reading may go something like this. You call the psychic and make
an appointment, and go to his/her home or other place of business. The
psychic may explain to you who they are, what they do and what tools they
use, and how long they've been doing it. They may ask you if you've ever had
a reading before, and go into a more detailed explanation of what they are
doing if you have never had a reading. They may ask you to sign a release
form, or state that what they are doing is "for entertainment purposes only"
(this is for legal reasons to protect the psychic).
Let's assume the psychic is primarily a Tarot reader with some other
abilities as listed above. They will probably ask you to focus on a question
and shuffle the cards. (Some psychics do not like other people to touch their
cards, however, and will ask you to focus while they shuffle. Most prefer the
client shuffle the cards, thus transferring your energy to the cards.) They
may explain to you how to shuffle, or they may not. Some will ask you to
shuffle a certain number of times; others will tell you to stop shuffling
when it feels right to you; and yet others will tell you when to stop
shuffling. The psychic will then lay the cards out on the table.
This can also be done many ways, but the most common is the Celtic Cross
layout. The psychic will look at the cards, and either ask what your question
is or the general area of your question (love, money, health); ask you a
specific question about the recent past or present; or simply state something
s/he sees in the cards. Generally, a psychic will "test the waters" and make
sure they are tuned into you by asking you to verify a question about the
present or recent past before continuing the reading. If they are not tuning
in, they may shift focus and ask another question (sort of like sliding
around to the back door to try to find another way in) to see if s/he is
connecting that way. If so, they will proceed with the reading. If not, some
psychics will try to find the connection, while others may simply tell you
they are unable to read you.
If they are able to read you and you have verified that you are connected,
they will continue reading. As noted earlier, I believe a reading is more
like a consultation between reader and client, and thus is an interactive
event, not a one-way monologue by the psychic. In fact, I prefer to frame
almost everything in the form of a question, although I am thinking of it as
a statement, because it encourages interaction. Your goal in a reading should
not be to approach it with the attitude "tell me everything about what my
future holds, who'm I gonna marry, how many kids am I gonna have?". That is
too broad and too distant into the future for most psychics to accurately
predict. You should have a specific area, or a specific question (or group of
questions) that you are currently concerned about. You should be approaching
the psychic as a counselor of sorts who (hopefully) will be able to help you
clearly see your situation and thus help you make the best possible decision
that will help you create a better life for yourself.
An important message about free will versus fate! If you believe that your
life is completely dictated by fate and that only the cards or the stars can
guide you, you are mistaken. We all have free will, and can change our
"fates" any time. Most of us, however, go with the "line of least resistance"
in our lives, and continue to follow along with the natural flow of things
without resistance. Oddly enough, this is partly why psychics are able to
predict future likelihoods. I use the word "likelihoods" because that is
exactly what each reading is: a likelihood. Not a scenario cast in stone, not
a certainty, not an absolute. Merely a likelihood. With free will, you can
change any likelihood you see, and thus change your "fate" (and the outcome
of the reading as well). Readings are intended as a guide to help you make
changes to control your own life, not as a roadmap to blindly follow.
The psychic should then be able to pick up/read some specifics about the
question, what you have done about it thus far, what you are thinking or
feeling about it now, and what is most likely to happen if you act on your
current opinion. If there are other options you are not aware of, the psychic
should be able to make you aware of these. For instance, if you are asking
about a current romantic interest that you are unsure about, the psychic
could tell you the following:
"You are uncertain about this relationship. Is there something in the
relationship that is causing this concern?" Or, "There is uncertainty in this
relationship. It looks as though the other person is not fully committed to
it, because s/he has never quite let go of an old relationship, and this
makes it feel unstable to you."
"At this point, it does not look like it will last, and given the hold the
past relationship has on the other party, and your own uncertainty, it
probably won't. But who is the person in your immediate environment who you
are overlooking? There is a person who is kind and caring, but quiet, that
you know but haven't taken seriously in the past. This person may be the
right one for you."
Some psychics may be able to get more specific (i.e., "This new person is
someone you work with"; "I don't see the current relationship lasting more
than another month"; "Does the current person's name start with the letter
'J'?"; etc.). How specific the psychic can be doesn't matter as long as s/he
helps you solve your problem! What does matter is the accuracy.
Accuracy varies among psychics. No psychic is 100% accurate, and one who
claims to be is a liar. Most psychics are in the 75-90% accuracy range. Some
are more accurate in certain areas (like everything else these days, psychics
specialize, too). And like everyone else, psychics have their off days.
However, most of what a psychic tells you in a reading should be accurate,
and should occur, unless you take drastic action (use your free will) to
change it.
You should be able to verify what the psychic is getting that you are already
aware of, and this should help the psychic to get more detailed about your
question.
You may also ask other questions, either more specific questions or separate
questions (which will probably require reshuffling the cards).
When your time is about up, the psychic should tell you that there are a few
minutes left, and allow you time to ask a final quick question or get
clarification on an earlier issue.
When you are done, you should pay the psychic (if you haven't already), and
the psychic should give you his/her business card or brochure. If you have
general questions about things psychic at this point, most psychics (if they
aren't busy) will be happy to answer general questions for free (how the
cards work, how they knew they were psychic, etc.). If you were happy with
your reading, please be sure to recommend the psychic to your friends and
colleagues; referrals are how they get most of their business!
Are psychics for real?
Obviously, I believe they (we) are. As I said above, we are all born with
some abilities, some more than others. Some of us are born with it, some of
us develop it from childhood, and the rest of us can develop it to some
degree or another if we work at it. Is it real in the sense of what is
portrayed on movies and TV? Of course not; movies and TV aren't real!
What would cause someone watching a news story about a murder to say "His
body is buried in a shallow grave in the woods close to a main road. He was
shot once in the back of the head," only to find out later that's exactly
what happened? What would cause someone to call up her mother after reading
Tarot cards and seeing her father's death impending, only to find out that
(although she didn't even know he was sick), that yes, he has terminal
cancer? What would cause someone to tell a business client an employee was
embezzling, only to have the employer check it out and find out it's true?
Many, many stories like this exist. And so do psychics and psychic abilities.
How do I develop my psychic ability?
There are many ways, and what will work depends upon you as an individual.
Here are just a few tips and ideas.
Pay attention to your dreams and intuition. Some dreams are psychic, some are
simply regurgitation of the day's events. Write down your dreams, and pay
attention to what happens for several days afterward. Look for a connection
between real-life events and symbolism in your dreams. Listen to your
intuition in little things, and see if your life seems to be getting easier
or better. For example, if it feels like you should eat something other than
what you had planned for dinner, do so. Perhaps your original plan might have
upset your stomach. Drive a different way if it feels like you should (did
you avoid a traffic jam?).
Try to "feel" who is calling when the phone rings. A lot of psychics I know
have this ability.
Get a deck of Tarot cards and a book to go with it. Read the book and look up
meanings at first, and then put the book away. See what the cards mean to
you. Get into the pictures. Let your imagination go. See what you feel. Write
it down (with the date and time). Look at it again a week or a month later,
and see if you got anything that was on target. It's better to do this for
friends and family, as reading for yourself can be tricky. If you have to
read for yourself, though, then do it.
Try psychometry. Hold a friend's keys and see what pops into your head.
Don't dismiss those things that seem to "pop into your head out of nowhere".
Meditate, relax, or do whatever you can that allows your subconscious mind to
come forward.
Focus on a friend who is far away. Imagine their face vividly in front of
you. Try to (1) see what they're doing, or feel what they're thinking or
feeling at that moment; or (2) send them a "psychic phone call" to call you.
Write down the time, and see what happens. And please, ask their permission
first! Most psychics consider it an invasion of privacy to read someone who
has not asked you to do so, and thus, allowed you to connect with them.
Read, watch, listen. Steep yourself in psychic subjects. Watch TV shows,
movies, read books about anything to do with psychic phenomenon.
It may take awhile to develop something, but if you are open and keep working
on it, you should start to notice that you are more attuned than you were,
and are acting on your intuition.
Good luck!

Are those 1-900 psychic lines for real?
The answer to this depends upon the particular line, and upon the particular
psychic. Having worked in this arena, I can tell you what really goes on in
some of them.
There are real psychics on some of these lines. Since it is difficult to make
a reasonable living as a psychic, it is a good way for real psychics to have
regular income, or to supplement their income from private clients. I have
known many excellent psychics who have worked on these lines, although they
may not all be willing to tell you they have, given the questionable nature
and practices of the lines.
There are also complete frauds on these lines. A 1-900 line is a business,
first and foremost. Ethics tend to be secondary to some (and remember, I
cannot speak for every 1-900 psychic line out there; all I know is my own
experiences). I am personally aware of one line/group of lines that hired
temporaries and homeless shelter residents to answer phones and give
readings. Although hiring homeless people and others in need of work is
commendable, passing them off as psychics is reprehensible. I have seen some
of these people giving astrological readings by reading horoscope columns out
of grocery store publications! Some have been handed a deck of cards and a
book, and are simply shuffling cards and looking up meanings to the cards
straight out of a book. You could do the same for a lot less money at home.
I have also seen professional psychics help solve crimes, find lost objects,
assist callers with decisions about their romantic lives, offer support and
guidance after the death of a loved one, and accurately predict everything
from a new romance to winning lottery numbers.
My best advice on calling 1-900 lines is this: find a local psychic instead.
Get recommendations from friends. Get references from the psychic. Ask
questions about how long they've been doing this, what they do, how they do
it. Check with local metaphysical bookstores (most have psychics and
astrologers they are associated with who are legitimate). Most psychics
charge a lot less in person than the 1-900 lines do, and you are more able to
be certain that you are getting a legitimate psychic.
If you do call a 1-900 line, beware and be careful. If you get a psychic who
seems to be good, stick with that psychic in the future. If you get someone
who completely misses the boat, ask for another psychic, even while you're on
the line. I would not recommend doing what some callers do: "Tell me about
myself first. You tell me, you're the psychic." First, it's insulting to
psychics. Secondly, if you shut yourself off like that, you will be harder
for a psychic to read. Thirdly, a good psychic reading should be an
interactive process, not a game of 20 questions. Tell the psychic your
question(s). If the psychic is not saying anything that makes any sense to
you whatsoever, ask to be transferred to someone else.
Further advice: never, ever, ever believe any psychic (1-900 or not) who asks
you for money to take a curse off you or something like that. It's a rip-off.
There are legitimate Wiccan psychics who may perform magic for a fee, but
they should tell you up front what the one-time fee is, and it should be
reasonable (less than $100). Anyone who tells you there's a curse on you and
they can remove it if you bury money in a graveyard at midnight -- run. Run
immediately to the police and/or Better Business Bureau.
How to Get A Good Reading
The 90’s has seen a tremendous increase in the number of psychics,
astrologers, new age, and other ‘metaphysicians’ offering a wide variety of
services to the general public. Most of these practitioners are honestly
concerned for their clients and sincere about their work. Toronto and
Southern Ontario have a number of really high quality practitioners who
cringe at the request to remove a curse, knowing so often that such ideas
come from a group of old European-style fortune-tellers who feed off the
fears of their clients - and search for any way to make easy money from them.

The Top 10 Principles for Attracting the Things You Want in Life
Become incredibly selfish! Yeah, it's ironic, but as you take care of
yourself, manage your time, your space and your life well, you have more to
give and share with others. If you want more clients, take extremely good
care of Client #1.
Over-respond to every event! This is the opposite of over-reacting. Respond
immediately to phone calls, answer questions in full, take time for others,
thoughtfully and creatively go the extra mile.
Add value just for the joy of it! Do more, provide more, go further than you
are paid for. Caution: Don't just give more stuff, give more stuff that
people really want and appreciate.
Market your talents shamelessly! Have fun, be proud of what you do, tell
everybody! If you aren't excited, proud and energized by what you do, do
something else!
Affect others profoundly. Get out of the roles and job descriptions we all
have. Connect with people, question, respond, be silly, get "outside the
box". Whatever it takes, make an impact on your world.
Eliminate delay. Time is expensive, and wasting it is unattractive and
irritating. Think things through, plan carefully, but in the end, actions
count!
Thrive on the details. Pay attention to the subtleties, the small things.
It's the little extras that build you up, and the little overlooked details
that bring you down.
Tolerate nothing! Clean up all the irritations, the daily frustrations and
predictable annoyances of your life, once and for all Don't just fix the
problem, re-design your routine so those irritations never bother you again!
Orient life around your values. When you spend your days living in harmony
with your values, you become incredibly energized, peaceful, focused and
attractive!
Develop more character than you need! Beyond being good at your job, and
living with integrity, become very good at being YOU! Be a "real character",
the unique, gifted, complex and unforgettable individual that you were born
to be.

What should people know about psychics and being psychic?
Hi, I am a student who is only 13 years old but is in great need of help. I
am doing a report about psychics for school. And I would really appreciate It
if you could give me some insight on what I should include in it. What do you
think is the most important stuff about psychics you think people should know
about? It would really help me alot!!! And if u can get back to me as soon as
possible it would REALLY help me alot!! And your site has already helped me
alot. This is some topics I have in my report, if you could tell me some more
or tell me some I should leave out I would like it: History of Psychics,
Clairvoyance, Crystal reading's, Palmistry, Prices of readings. I really need
some insight on this, thanks so much. Shelly

Notes On the History of Psychism
It's interesting, I don't think that there's one reference book, per se, that
has a history of psychism. Many books on the subject have pieces of it here
and there. But I can't remember one definitive text on the subject. At least
no one written without a "sensational" slant. And, of course, the whole area
of psychism has changed drastically in the last 30 years. Psychism is an
ability that has been with humanity since the very earliest of times. And has
gone through many changes.
Simply put: everyone has SOME intuitive ability. It's part of our human
fabric and has been always! But how it's perceived by the prevailing culture,
times, religions is often what defines it. In some cultures and times the
"gift" was respected and sought out. For instance, in the early Greek times,
with the Oracles at Delphi. These oracles, or "the eyes and the ears of the
gods" were sought out by Kings, rulers, generals and the populace for
information. The kind of information that would give one the "inside track"
or the expanded view of a particular situation. The Oracles themselves, were
supported completely by the culture in terms of food, housing etc. There's a
book kicking around somewhere, "The Oracles of Delphi" that I remember
looking at years ago. It contained some of the predictions and "readings"
given in those times. It was difficult to read, only because so much seemed
obscure from the point of view of thousands of years later. I suspect you'd
have to have a really thorough working knowledge of ancient times history.
But, at least, someone took the time to transcribe these ancient readings and
save them for posterity.
Through history, there have been seers and visionaries. For instance,
Nostradamus, a famous physician who had the ability the read the future
through a method of scrying: looking into a bowl of water. . . he was advisor
to Kings and politicians of his time and too often deadly accurate. But he
had to hide his gift as the Catholic Church was burning heretics for "ungodly
powers" and was run out of town on more than one occasion! However, he wrote
a series of quatrains (4 lined poems), about a thousand or so, in which he
accurately predicted events hundreds of years into the future! People are
still reading his quatrains today and corresponding them with today's events.
Historically, women (so-called witches) were burned because they exhibited
the gift. . . .they were the village wise-women, who dispensed herbs for
healing, delivered babies (sometimes through C-Sections which the local male
doctors absolutely forbid!) sometimes, they predicted the future of a love
affair. . .but politically, they were a threat. They were women who had
knowledge passed down to them from earliest times from their own mothers and
their "job" was to make sure people were healthy and survived. How many more
women would have died in childbirth had it not been for these village women's
expertise?
Around the turn of this Century, psychism and mesmerism (hypnosis) was very
popular and people engaged routinely, for a night's entertainment and
edification, in seances (calling to the spirits of the dead) and
demonstrations of all kinds. H.P. Blavatsky, a Theosophist, was an extremely
brilliant woman, but a bit of a charlatan too. She would stage all kinds of
phenomena (like things "appearing" out of thin air (called apports). sounds,
etc. She felt that people "needed" some of this spooky-kooky stuff to grab
their attention and belief! Unfortunately, this gave rise to a whole lot of
folks who would use simple stage magic to bilk their unsuspecting patrons. .
. .and, as a result, the whole field of psychism fell under the pall of
tricksters and con-artists! A lot of money exchanged hands. . . .I mean can
you imagine? Some poor rich woman whose husband had passed on would spend big
bucks in the hope that she could contact him. . .one more time.
So, there was this cross-over of magic and psychism. Harry Houdini, a very
famous stage magician had a profound belief in the occult and psychic powers.
And would take every opportunity to de-bunk the charlatans of his time. I
believe that before he died, he made arrangements, by way of a sealed letter,
to make "contact" through a medium. He left a specific message that he would
relay from beyond and I believe a cash prize was to be awarded to the medium
who correctly could channel his message. I also believe that this prize has
never been collected.
In more current times, the Amazing Randy, a stage magician, made quite a
reputation for himself debunking fakes and phonies. Arthur Conan Doyle of
Sherlock Holmes fame was an avid spiritualist. As were many of the literary
minds of his day.
I guess people through the ages have always been fascinated by the unseen
world. And have sought out oracles, gypsies, spiritualists, psychics and
mediums trying to figure out the deeper meaning of life. And it seems that
when things get tough in the world and life becomes unmanageable on some
level, people tend to turn to psychics in the hopes that they can make some
sense out of all of it!!
Being psychic is normal, natural
I've always had this idea that being psychic is "normal" We have five
physical sense that help us survive in the world. And for everyone of those
five sense we have a psychic "backup" sense: sight/clairvoyance (the ability
to see far), hearing (clairaudience), touch (clairsensience), even our sense
of smell and taste have psychic backup senses. It gives us humans the ability
to sense "reality" on another level. More subtle, unseen, but there
nonetheless!
How many times have you been thinking of a particular person. . .and they
call, or just show up? Everyone has hunches at some time in their lives. But
most people will disregard this ability by saying, "Oh! It's only
coincidence!" Is it? Or were they really picking up on something? It's
possible for people to be trained to tap into and utilize these abilities.
Most of the time it's a matter of just paying attention, being observant. But
it IS tricky stuff sometimes!!
For myself, I was always psychic. Although I didn't totally realize it until
I was in my early 20's! I just figured, for most of my childhood, that
everybody heard and saw what I did!! It wasn't until I was in about 4-5 grade
that I realized I was "weird" and quickly hid my talent so I wouldn't get
into trouble.
It's really difficult to have the "gift" as a small child when you're around
people who don't understand or are afraid. But for me, I had this ability to
"hear" what people were REALLY saying. Not the words they spoke, but rather
the deeper words that were unspoken. Really confusing. I would answer what I
was really hearing. . .and adults would just go crazy!! I learned to screen
this out. . .and just pass for "normal" I also saw spirits around me, colors
and lights. . .I would hear music and I could "see" the patterns of lights
that the music formed. And I just "knew" things. Things that most normal kids
had no idea of. . . .
But like I said, I hid out. Towards the end of my teen-age years a series of
events took place that were very traumatic. My mom died of cancer, I came up
with cancer myself, I moved from my father's home, moved far away, married,
(though only briefly) and was suddenly flung out into the world, alone and
broke. Along with all of this my psychic abilities returned, full-force, and
I was "seeing" my dead mother, seeing lights around other people, seeing into
their bodies, like an X-Ray, hearing voices, felt like I was terminally
spaced out!! And figured I was going "crazy". It seemed like a really
psychotic and out of control place!! I managed to find a psychiatric social
worker and described what was going on with me. Luckily, for me, she told me
that I was opening up psychically, that I didn't have a "frame of reference"
for this ability. . . .and she took me on as a student. She trained me for
many years to get control of this state and led me to other teachers over
time.
I was one of the lucky ones. She could have just as easily told me that I WAS
crazy, put me on meds and committed me to an institution somewhere!! Which is
the normal protocol for someone exhibiting these kinds of behaviors!!
Over the years, I learned how to function psychically, and I also went back
to school to get a degree in psychology. I was VERY interested in how the
human mind functions!! I was also able to see how many really gifted people
ended up in institutions because they were malfunctioning. . . .psychically!!
And, in a way, that became my life's work. To teach and train people
psychically, and to work with people in therapy to gain control of these
states. In fact, my message has been: Being psychic is normal! You just have
to figure out how to gain control of the state.
I've also come to realize that just because you train to be a psychic doesn't
mean that you have to function as a professional psychic in the world.
Developing these abilities enhances your perceptions in a way that can be
applied to any walk of life. As a result, I've had a number of jobs in fields
as diverse as restaurants, social work, adoption, therapy, teaching, all
fields where I was able to use an expanded awareness to get the job done!
About 30 years ago, in California, there was a whole new movement around
psychism and the paranormal. Parapsychology, which is the study,
scientifically of psi phenomena, was beginning to gain some momentum. If you
go to the Web and look up parapsychology. . .you'll find a ton of stuff. The
Stanford Research Institute, in Palo Alto Calif. was doing massive research
into this area. The US Government had lots of contracts with these guys for
covert projects. Like remote-viewing of USSR missile bases, finding lost
planes, all on the level of intelligence gathering. The Russians also were
engaged in an all out effort to develop these abilities. See, "Psychic
Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain". So parapsychology was one avenue or
research. Along with that, there was a whole Humanistic Psychology Movement
going on. People exploring the deeper realms of the mind. This was the
climate that I was trained in. And this is the climate that gave rise to a
whole lot of professional psychics and healers. People who were well educated
and genuinely seeking methods for expanding humanity's consciousness.
OK. . .fast forward to now. . . .How I do go on!! As a psychic, I would love
not to charge any money for what I do. . .and, in fact, a lot of times I
don't. I've made it a rule that I would never turn away people through a lack
of funds. But the reality is that I'm not living in Greek times where the
culture supported me!! And, people need to survive!! Most of the time, in my
life, I've had a "day job" something that supported me. . .so I could do this
work. And, clients, these days, seem to need to pay in order to listen! I try
to charge a reasonable amount of money. Fees that will assist me in support
and yet low enough for most people to access me. The sad part sometimes is
watching psychics charge huge sums for services.
People think because it costs a lot it must be good. And often, just the
opposite it true!! It's a thorny issue for most of us. . . .
So Shelly, I hope this gives you some ideas and some insights. . . .write us
back and let us know how your report is received!! And good luck to you! One
thing I can tell you about life. . .is that it's a most amazing journey and
the trick is. . . .always be curious and open to the many possibilities!!

Hi, You forgot things like pendulum, tarot, palmistry, astrology, I Ching.
Ever since man (and woman) realized the future could be foretold, back to
caveman days (in extremely primitive times), all sorts of ways have been
recognized. Basically man has tried to make a science out of each way of
foretelling the future. So tools like the I Ching were designed for those who
were not visionaries but who wanted to be able to tell the future some how.
More on the History of Psychism
Astrology was the oldest of all the so called scientific methods of
foretelling the future. It was mathematical as well as astronomy based. Still
it was and is a matter of interpretation.
I wish I had more time to spout off on this as the beginnings of all psychic
things began when man first put his feet on the earth and someone wanted to
know how the hunting would be the next day. They may have gone to a visionary
who said I see lots of food coming home tomorrow. They may have gone to
someone who kept a pile of small bones to throw so they could cast the
fortunes of tomorrows hunt. In either event they were probably both right.
About being psychic
Being psychic is about interpreting the messages we are given. Sometimes the
answers just come into a persons mind. That is called intuition. When we see
pictures it is called Clairvoyance. When we feel things, it is called
Clairsensience. When we actually hear messages, the rarest gift of all, it is
called Clairaudience.
Most psychics work with a little of each. I only hear the odd key word, while
I see and sense everything else. A person can go to a palm reader, an
astrologist, a crystal ball or water in a bowl gazer (this is called
scrying), a numerologist and a tarot reader and various other gifted seers
and all should all be able to deliver the same basic message to that client.
Being psychic is a gift and we owe a duty to try and help the client feel
better with truths and encouragement. Contrary to belief, a good psychic
never predicts death (unacceptable in the world of true psychics but done in
movies).
Children are born with clear vision and as they get older and life and
"common sense" get in the way, it is lost. Then we seem to have to work hard
to redevelop it. There are races of people like the Romanies (Romanian), the
true gypsies, that for thousands of years encouraged this clear seeing as
this was how they made their living. Our Native Indians practice a wonderful
form of spirituality that they have never lost. Much of their knowledge of
the future comes in the form of dreams.
Myself I am a medium and I can see and talk to people in spirit. Maybe you
would want to say I see ghosts. I serve as a telephone line from spirit to
those on earth they were connected to. I am also a physical medium, in other
words, in the right seance like type sitting I can manifest spirit for people
like yourself to talk to.
Wish I had more time to write to you and help you. Good Luck! Hope this has
been helpful, Love, _HYPERLINK "../SpiritWays/Victoria.htm"__Victoria_

Being psychic is natural, a way of living, of being in the world
In my opinion what's most important for folks to know about being psychic is
that it is natural and it is in all of us to be psychic. Being psychic is
more a way of living and being with the world than it is a skill, although it
is something that people can develop in themselves...
I liken being psychic to being a baseball player... or a scientist - it is in
most of us to be able to learn the basics, how to throw a ball, to add and
subtract, to understand the laws of nature, and so it is in most of us to be
able to "tune" into the energy around us and be able to read the subtle
signals... but some of us really have a gift for throwing a ball, or a real
affinity with numbers or nature, gifts that draw us into acquiring greater
skill, knowledge and experience in those fields; as in any other field, being
psychic is more natural to some than to others... but as in the analogies I
just gave you, it benefits each of us to learn to throw a ball, or to add and
subtract and to understand how rain forms... So it is with being psychic. It
is valuable for each of us to learn something about our individual abilities
and to learn to use them well, and some of us may have some special talents
that we'll want to expand and develop as we mature.
There are a wide variety of ways to be psychic, some of us are clairvoyant can 'see' with our minds, some are clairaudient - can 'hear' with our hearts,
some are clairsensient - can 'feel' with our guts, and some have intuitions 'just knowings' that seem to arrive out of nowhere. Some folks can smell with
their inner senses; some folks are talented mediums and able to communicate
with souls in other dimensions; some folks channel (a dangerous work), where
they actually allow energies from other dimensions to take over their minds
and bodies to speak through them... And then there's a whole range of
different divination tools that folks will use to help them "read" - to
trigger psychic reactions... these include the tarot, runes, I ching,
dowsing, ouija boards, reading tea leaves and coffee grinds or ashes from a
fire... Astrology and numerology are tools that psychics use to help them
read, but numerologists and astrologers aren't necessarily psychics...
although most are much more psychic than they admit to... energy workers,
reiki and reflexology practitioners, massage and shiatsu therapists and
almost all alternative health practitioners are in some ways tapping into
their psychic abilities to help their clients move energy that has been
blocking or harming them... although, again, few will admit that they are
psychic...
being a professional psychic requires training, as in any other field
I'd also want folks to know that being a good psychic requires a great deal
of training in order to make it work for you... Learning to sense the subtle
signals that influence our lives is one thing, but being able to interpret
them accurately, to find the right meanings behind the images, visions or
words, or whatever the psychic is experiencing takes a lot of work... The
first step requires that the psychic get to know themselves in a very deep
way so they can get themselves out of the way when they are doing a reading.
Then they need to gain experience and understanding with a wide range of
symbols, universal archetypes and so on.
Don't be afraid of it, make it work for you
Finally, I think one of the most important message I'd want to give folks
about being psychic is to tell folks not to be afraid... one of the biggest
reasons that prevents folks from being able to even access their natural
talents is that they are afraid to...
Some religions even teach that it is the work of the devil, and given what
I've seen of the Black Magic in the world, I can't deny the truth of their
fears... on the other hand, it is a natural ability, it is a skill that can
help us each live more honestly and truly, it can help each of us to prevent
problems from developing into disasters... it's just a matter of learning to
understand what is happening, to recognize that we are much more than our
physical vehicles, that we are spirit contained in a body temporarily, and
that in the end we are all One, and through this Oneness it becomes easy to
connect, spirit to spirit, with all those around us... Spirits and ghosts can
be scary when we don't understand what's happening and how to respond... But
we must always remember that no matter what, we have the power in this
dimension and can learn to use it to both keep ourselves safe - and make
progress in life more easily and more naturally.
So, I hope these notes are useful to you... there is a good article on our
web site on how to get a good reading and a bit about curses - this is what

Channeling
has become a loaded word. So many definitions of channeling exist in
publications, news media and workshops. Most focus on the appearance of an
"outside" entity speaking through the human host. Such a limited definition
frightens and excludes many people. This excerpt from our soon to be released
book reminds us that channeling has as many unique forms as the universe has
beings. Human beings, in particular, channel so many wonderful gifts to
themselves and each other. May each person honor and recognize the Soul
purpose that s/he channels into daily life and to the Earth.
This presentation was offered by the Council of Zoleen through C.C. and
Lynnéa on August 20, 1996. The Council is a group of Master Guides who
lovingly offer a safe space for human beings to embrace all that we are,
including the parts of ourselves that have previously been unembraceable.
One of the greatest things that you can do -- and that you all will do in
this lifetime -- is allow your Higher Self and Soul to come through you and
express itself. To channel.
Some of you have asked how to channel. We suggest that the question might be
better phrased "How can we become conscious of our channeling?" Channeling is
not necessarily what you think it is. Millions of people around this planet
channel without knowing they channel, they take it for granted. They do not
know from where their creative ideas originate, from where their love
originates, from where their magic and wonder originates. They do not know
how their physical bodies are formed. This is all channeled energy! If you
exist here, on this Earth, as a physical being, you have the capacity and the
skill to translate spiritual energy into physical matter - to channel. You
channel all that you create. All your life.
The throat chakra is one of many avenues through which spiritual signature
can be expressed in the physical world. Music, dance, art, love...any
expression of the Soul can be channeled. And this whole life upon this
physical plane is a manifestation of your increasing ability to call who you
are as Spirit here unto this very place and into this very body.
Up until now you have hovered around your body, afraid to land here, for it
was a hostile climate. And so the Soul has retreated, far away from this
separation and this pain. Now we have come to a time that is, in truth, the
time of the quickening! All of your lessons, all of the purification and
release of all of the pain and fear of separation will be quickened and made
known and felt by you. Is it not so already?
In this quickening you are each challenged to channel - to tune into the
voices of your inner selves as well as the voices of your larger Selves. You
all, in truth, are seeking to channel your Self with a large S unto the body
of the smaller self. All you need to know is within you. The channeling we
speak of in this council, in this moment, is the channeling that happens when
you accept yourself and all the voices within you. Your body, your emotions
and your mind will continually show you where you need to place your
radiance, your love.
When there is a strength of Higher Purpose amongst you in groups, however
small, you will all channel that unique piece of God that you have agreed to
bring here through the physical body. It may be in spoken word, it may be in
art, it may be in love or in magic. You each have a certain energetic
frequency that no one else on this Earth has, and you are meant to give it to
Gaia and to each other. This is the channeling of which we speak. This is the
channeling which will create for you a Heaven upon this very Earth and a
place within this very body where God may dwell.
Dear Ones, go with God.

_PRIVATE__ The Curse Scam
_HYPERLINK "../Business_Soulutions/danielle_daoust.htm"__by M.L. Danielle
Daoust_
One of the easiest and ugliest of scams perpetrated by so-called fortunetellers and psychics is the promise to change your luck by removing a curse,
a jinx or "the negativity from your aura".
We published our first warnings more than a year ago in the hopes that it
would prevent others from wasting their money. Still, this is such a common
way of preying of people's fears that we continue to receive calls and
letters from clients who have been frightened by threats of a curse and want
assurance that they should not pay the money requested to remove it.... in
all cases we respond with this information:
You cannot remove a curse by paying money to anyone...
While curses are, at least within some cultures, very real and can produce
‘bad luck", the only way a curse can have any effect is if the person or
persons cursed is fearful of it, responds to it, believes in it, or holds
some guilt or anger about the original event.
A curse is simply a set of words that have been empowered with ‘negative’
energy...
A curse cannot harm us unless we allow it to by giving the negative energy
some entry point, as through our beliefs, fear or guilt. In any case, paying
a fee to remove a curse will have very little effect on changing your luck or
making you well again!
Most of the curses identified by such fortune-tellers are not real, figments
of their corrupted and greedy imaginations.
It is unfortunate that these fortune tellers have enough psychic ability (or
observational skills) to be able to identify a good potential "con", and then
to give their mark enough valid information to hook them. These frauds focus
on folks who are fearful and have therefore probably attracted a lot of "bad
luck’ in recent times. Then they use the curse as a way of explaining away
the bad luck - and offer to change the person's luck, for a price of course.
Sad to say, clients have quoted prices ranging from $300 to $10,000 for
removing curses. A high price, no matter what the cost, for being afraid....
of words... and usually of nothing.
While many of us might like to believe that our lives have been cursed, it's so much easier to set the blame outside ourselves when things go wrong the truth is that only in extremely rare circumstances are we ever victims of
anything more than our own beliefs, fears and unloving actions.
The 90’s has seen a tremendous increase in the number of psychics,
astrologers, new age, and other ‘metaphysicians’ offering a wide variety of
services to the general public. Most of these practitioners are honestly
concerned for their clients and sincere about their work.
Sincere practitioners of the divining arts want you to return because you
gained valuable information and insights from your reading.
Real psychics would be appalled at the thought that they might have
frightened you... or put your phyical health and financial well-being at
risk.
Protect Yourself from Fraud
...this is how it works
First know this:
Each person is their own best psychic if they would but learn to listen to
their own higher self. Everything that manifests in a person's life is
already known somewhere in our consciousness. Signals are sent forth for us
to become conscious of in many different ways. Many times in a very subtle
way known as the "Still Small Voice." This communication is often disregarded
because of emotional or intellectual analysis. This process of learning to
differentiate the true signal from learned emotional needs or desires is a
very important process in making our life path a smoother trip.
All of us are born with psychic abilities but lose the power as we grow older
and are taught by our parents and adults around us to disregard the messages
from our guidance system. Some of us are able to retain much of this ability
at various levels of consciousness and by practice use it in everyday life.
The more a psychic is able to set aside their conscious mind and communicate
from their right brain intuitive levels the better their readings become.
Like a good pianist practice improves their accuracy.
The more loving and giving the attitude a reader uses the better the reading
will be for the person receiving it. The person receiving the reading, though
it is not necessary, can be helpful if he/she can have an open mind without
pre-conceived ideas. One thing to remember, all that a reader can give you is
the "Law of Probabilities," that surrounds you right now. The reader can give
you a time such as in the number "three" but you control time of events in
your life, so that number "three" can mean three days, three months, or three
years with the possibility, depending on your choices in your lifepath, can
mean as much as thirty years. These predictions can be changed by your own
conscious control and/or circumstances outside of yourself. Information
received in a reading is generally something already known somewhere in your
consciousness and many times it will verify what you already sort of suspect.
Most readers, although it is not their basic purpose, may have some ability
to help you with some of your problems.
Always remember, you have ultimate control of everything in your life at some
dimension of your consciousness.
You create your own reality.

_PRIVATE__Psychic Workout: Inner Listening
_INCLUDEPICTURE \d "images/silverlake.jpg"___ Begin by closing your eyes
and breathing deeply from your belly.

Psychic Perception - An Overview
Julia Jablonski
"A powerful agent is the right word. Whenever we come upon one of those
intensely right words the resulting effect is physical as well as spiritual
and electrically prompt." -Mark Twain
There is more to ordinary conscious reality than meets the eye. Our minds are
constantly filtering information. If they didn't, we'd be quickly overwhelmed
by stimuli. As you're reading this, take a moment to stop and listen for
background noises. Is there a fan? An air conditioner? Can you hear people in
another room or outside? The computer is probably humming. You may now even
be aware of the slight sound of your breath as you inhale and exhale. Were
you aware of any of these sounds before you focused upon them? Now wiggle
your tongue. Remember that tongue? Most likely, you were not "aware" of even
having a tongue until I drew your attention to it. Psychics have learned
where to turn their attention in order to become aware of that which is
normally outside of conscious awareness.
There are subtle mental borderlines beyond which all conscious reason and
understanding seem to fall away. It is in this gray area that we struggle to
understand logically that which is beyond conventional reason. What is it
that is accessed by a psychic? How do we know where to look for the answers?
How do we even know there ARE answers?
At this time of rapid technological development, science has become the
religion of the masses. Fortunately, new technology is also helping us to
confirm much of what the mystics have known and taught for ages. There are
ways of knowing that go beyond the left-brain, logical, mechanical approach
that is emphasized in Western culture and cultivated in an educational
structure that defines thought and "reality" in limiting ways.
For example, some of us have better physical vision than others. A child can
spot an airplane far away in the sky that may not even "exist" for the
child's great-grandmother. A dog can hear pitches above the human range of
hearing. We can not hear it, but that does not mean it is less "real" than
what we can hear. Modern technology has given us the ability to detect and
measure energy that is usually beyond our physical awareness. Our physical
eyes can detect color from red to violet, but we now know that infra-red
exists below the spectrum we're able to see, and ultra-violet exists above
the frequency our eyes generally observe.
Psychics are not dealing with the "physical" universe as governed by known
laws related to space and time, but are accessing non-physical information
through non-physical senses. From a quantum physical perspective, there are
no hard boundaries or limitations in the Universe, including those we
generally perceive related to space and time. Our thoughts or conscious
awareness can transcend the constructed "reality" of space/time in order to
see into something at a "distance," or see into the future.
Many people ask how readers can read over the internet, without a physical
body present. Well, how can a psychic read when the person IS present? Unless
a psychic is simply reading a person's body language, it should not make a
difference. The energies and information accessed are not of the physical
realm, and therefore not influenced by physical particulars. "Physical" here
denotes that which is experienced by our physical senses, that which is seen,
felt, heard, smelled, and tasted. There is truly nothing that is "solid" or
"physical" as we tend to think of it. There is a range of vibrations that
constitute what we call physical reality, and as we rise above this, we enter
the non-physical, just as when we heat water, it goes from solid (ice) to
liquid, to gas, and seems to "disappear." Psychics are able to continue to
perceive the "gas" realm of energy that is not observable to others.
This extraordinary awareness is achieved by expanding or altering one's state
of consciousness. What is perceived is then translated into words for
communicating what has been observed or gleaned from the process. Just as
some people are better able to see that airplane far off in the distance, so
are others better able to transcend space and time consciously. While
physical skills take a bit more work to influence, the development of psychic
ability is similar to the development of any mental ability. Just as we can
learn to paint or perform mathematics, so too can we develop the skills of
the psychic arts. Of course, just as some are born natural artists or
mathematicians, some are also born with the unique energy and genetic
aptitude to be gifted psychics.
In addition to natural ability, it takes time, focus and discipline for
psychics to continue to develop and maintain their skills. Most devote time
daily to meditation. Overall balance and clarity must be maintained in the
entire energy system. All the chakras must be kept in harmony, so to work
intensely with Spirit means one must work comparably with other energies.
Blocks or clouded energy in one sphere will limit what one is able to achieve
in the spiritual arena, and concurrently the higher and clearer all aspects
of the human energy system, the more deeply and powerfully one is able to
work in any one area.
To achieve this balance, it's essential to nurture the physical body through
exercise, healthy/natural food and adequate sleep. Heart chakra energies must
be kept clean and clear. This means acting with integrity, honesty, and
compassion. It means working through the issues of the ego in order to truly
come from the heart and be a clear channel of divine love and wisdom. The
mind must also be honored and fed; it must be allowed to question, to
analyze, to learn and expand in knowledge and understanding. It must be kept
open and fluid, receptive to change and new ideas. The body, heart, mind and
spirit are not separate, but like the organs of our body, specialize in
different functions, and work together to make a whole.
Everyone has the raw capacity to access information psychically. Indeed,
everyone is communicating with spirit and perceiving subtle energies and
information at a less than conscious level all the time. The benefits of
employing a psychic include having the opportunity to take advantage of that
person's natural and developed ability, without having to spend years and a
great deal of daily focus to achieve the same level of conscious awareness.
All greatly successful people hire "specialists" to do what is beyond their
own range of expertise.
While it is amazing and wonderful to be able to predict the future, it is a
far greater gift to be able to use such a skill to empower people to create
what they want in their lives. A psychic who works from the heart is truly a
healer. Such a reader works not just to be accurate in predicting, but to
empower and inspire the client to use the information provided to make
decisions and take actions that will lead to where the client personally
wants to go. The highest and most effective aim a reader or healer can have
is to love another into well-being; to hold an appreciative vision of that
individual in perfect harmony and balance, having already achieved what he or
she desires. By integrating the ability to foresee the future and channel
guidance from Spirit along with an intention of empowering and inspiring
others, a psychic can help those she serves to dramatically transform their
lives for the better.

Julia Jablonski, 1999
The world is full of all kinds of people. If we
just examine the family and friends we are close to, we'll see a wide range
of values and behaviors and different levels of integrity. While it's
unfortunate, every profession has its bad seeds. When it's a directly
spiritual type of work, however, we're especially outraged by unethical
practices or unprofessional behavior. For example, child molestation will
evoke outrage no matter who the perpetrator is, but we feel dismayed and
betrayed when a priest is the abuser. This sort of occurrence garners a lot
of attention from the media, and makes parents leery of trusting church
leaders with their children.
A similar dynamic has occurred in the psychic/spiritual reading arena. While
"gypsies" have always been suspect, the proliferation of cheesy 900 number
services and infomercials evokes a bad taste in the public's mouth when it
hears the world "tarot cards" or "psychic readings." We need to remember that
not every psychic is a con artist any more than every priest is a pedophile.
A few highly visible bad seeds can prejudice us against what on the whole is
a group of very well-meaning and high-intentioned professionals.
This article and its companion (How to Get a Good Psychic Reading) are
designed to educate our readers about common scams, and provide some
practical insider's tips on what to look for when choosing a spiritual
counselor or psychic. I hesitate to even discuss the topic, because I don't
want the work done at Psychic Chat to be associated with the subject of
scams! Please know that the staff at Psychic Journal and the Psychic Chat
Network aim to provide the very best in spiritual information and psychic
services, and would never do anything we wouldn't want to have done to us.
Scams
Over the years I've received some truly disturbing letters at MuseNet and the
Journal from people who were panicked or confused because some "psychic" had
told them they were cursed or possessed by an evil spirit. Often times these
people had spent hundreds of dollars to have these negative influences
removed, but the reader kept them coming back for this or that and insisting
on more and more money. I've corresponded with people who have literally
spent thousands of dollars trying to have "curses" removed. One man had his
whole family chipping in to remove a "family curse." Needless to say, I
removed the "curses" for free, and advised them to choose their readers more
wisely in the future!
For example, the following is an actual letter from a reader of the journal.
The subject line was, "Looking for your opinion."
Dear Julia:
Hi! I have been reading your journal for a few months now. I have had two
readings at Psychic Chat, and have continued to be very satisfied with the
level of professionalism and talent I have experienced from my reader as well
as the articles in your journal. I have embarked upon my own path of
spiritual growth, and have found your publication to be a great source of
enlightenment, education, and encouragement. I would like to share two recent
experiences I had with psychics that were not very positive, and I would very
much value your opinion.
I went to see two local psychics (I live in the LA area) on two separate
occasions, because I liked what I had experienced with Psychic Chat and your
journal, and thought it would be useful to see someone in person. During each
visit, the psychic commented that I had a "dark cloud/aura" around me, and
that my "bad luck" with relationships had to do with an "evil spirit"
following me. I was told that unless I worked with them to "find the cause"
of this, I would never be happy in a relationship!! Then each reader
proceeded to ask for what I consider to be a LOT of money. The first one
wanted $700, and the second wanted $300! This was to be for a couple of
"meditation" sessions with me where they would be able to essentially rid me
of this "dark cloud" or "evil spirit." (!!)
I felt very turned off by this. It felt like they were manipulating me
through my own fear and sadness about my recently ended relationship.
Frankly, I felt like they were trying to scam me. Not only that, what was
communicated felt very negative, fatalistic, and dis-empowering. It was
nothing like what I had learned or experienced with you guys!
I am becoming very aware of the personal issues I need to work on to improve
my relationships, and believe that things happen for very good reasons and
are always learning opportunities and for my greatest good. If a particular
relationship is not meant to be, then I will learn and grow and something
better will appear. This was certainly not the attitude conveyed by either of
these readers. I felt as if I was "bad" and that somehow it was my "fault"
that I had "lost" this man. They told me this kind of unhappiness would
continue if I didn't do what they said. Their attitude was one of "warning"
me.
Needless to say, if I weren't as strong and independent as I am, I may have
given them this money out of sheer desperation. I feel sorry for others who
might go along with this. Both of these psychics are very established in the
community and have been practicing for many years. One even had a write up in
the newspaper.
I would appreciate your professional opinion on these experiences. Thank you
very much! M.
If you've been reading the journal for any length of time, you can guess what
my professional opinion of this is!
While most con artists are only interested in your money, there are other
matters to consider as well. Several years ago I received a letter from an
attractive young woman who had been to a male reader. He told her that he was
totally amazed to be meeting her, because he had just met her "soul mate" a
few weeks before. He said he felt that he was to be the instrument of Spirit
that would bring them together. Now, this might have been true, especially if
he had just handed her the guy's number, but next he explained that in order
to bring them into energetic harmony, he had to perform a special ritual. It
involved her getting naked and him rubbing special oil into her feet and
legs. He assured her it was all on the level, and he even offered to do this
at no additional charge.
She wanted to know if I thought she should do it. It was her "soul mate" at
stake, after all. This woman was not a fool by any means! If a reader holds
out the possibility of something as wonderful as a "soul mate," even the most
cynical, practical and grounded people may be tempted to go against their
intuition.
Following are some red flags to watch out for. This is based on my
experiences working in this arena, and on the letters and other
communications I've had from people over the years.
Avoid "spells" and "curses." This is in no way a criticism of the very noble
spiritual art of Wicca. True Wiccans know better than most that we can not
tamper with another's free will. If someone offers to put a love spell on
someone you're enamored with, or to remove a curse for a fee, move on. You
are the one with the power to create what you want in your life. Don't expect
a psychic reader to do anything more than show you where you're presently
heading, and the way to creating what you desire. What you do with that
information is entirely up to you. A good reader will EMPOWER you to take
your life and destiny under your own conscious control.
This "curse" matter deserves a few more words. Often clients only discover
that they're "cursed" when the reader tells them. People who seek out
psychics generally have a problem or issue they're trying to turn around in
their lives. Blaming "bad luck" or unwanted experiences on a curse is
convenient for the reader. Such negative energies are notorious for clinging
to "bad money." If you hand it over to the reader, he or she will bravely
dispose of it for you.
Don't worry about curses. Even if someone does wish you ill, they have no
power to influence you or your life unless you GIVE it to them. Whatever they
wish another is what will return to them. There IS such a thing as a true
curse; it's believing that you're cursed. If you believe that you will have
bad luck, you will. If you expect and focus on bad things, they will come to
you. The reverse, of course, is also true.
Now, ask yourself if this psychic reader you're considering seems to be love
or fear based. Anyone who tries to scare you is going to dis-empower you and
leave you worse off than you were without the reading. While it doesn't
necessarily mean the reader is a scam artist, focusing on how bad things may
happen if you don't do what he or she says is not an enlightened or
constructive approach.
A good reader will put your best interests above his or her pocket book.
While a client who can't make a move without consulting you is great for
business, it's not a healthy or positive dynamic to establish. Watch out for
readers who ask you to come back at a certain time or within a certain
interval. As the client, you're the one who decides when to come back. A very
ethical reader will limit the amount of readings he or she will do for you,
or how often he or she will see you, in order to discourage dependency.
In general, once you've cleared a reader of the above, ask your intuition!
Your intuition must work in harmony with your intellect; we have both for
good reason. If you feel drawn to a certain reader, then by all means, pursue
that desire. Our inner beings lead us to what is best for us through our
desires. Spirit is always working for us, and we are led to those who have
dedicated their lives to doing the work of Spirit in the world when we can't
clearly hear the guidance coming through for ourselves. I encourage you to

Telepathy 101
By Gary Jennings
The following exercise was submitted by reader Gary Jennings. He wrote that
he is consumed by a daily quest to research and develop techniques for
communication via ESP, and that his experiences and discoveries in this arena
have fundamentally changed the way he relates to others on a daily basis. He

on developing your own telepathic powers.
Give it a try, and _HYPERLINK "mailto:editor@psychicchat.com"__write_ to let

_PRIVATE__The Controversy Over Charging for Psychic Services
by Julia Jablonski
Copyright Julia Jablonski, 1999 The issue of psychics charging for their
services is a controversial one. Over the years, I've received a few messages
through my personal site that complained that psychics and mediums should
never charge for their work. In researching this article, I spent some time
in an online chat room that advertised free psychic readings, and I asked for
people's opinions on the matter. The topic certainly sparked controversy.
Those who oppose psychics charging for their services argue that a psychic
gift is a gift from God, and gifts from God should never be used for profit.
This breaks down to two issues when we examine it closely. The first issue is
whether or not psychic ability is a "gift from God," or is different from
other gifts and talents, and the second is whether or not one should ever
profit from a gift from God.
Perhaps some psychic gifts are "gifts from God," in that they are abilities a
person was born with, or received spontaneously. I've known few psychics,
however, who haven't taken their innate abilities and worked and studied for
years to hone their spiritual faculties. Many have invested in lengthy
schooling and training, and lead a lifestyle as disciplined as an Olympic
athlete's in terms of meditation, habits and focus in order to maintain clear
access to subtle energies and information. I see little difference between
the training and education of a doctor or teacher or artist and that of a
psychic or medium.
We are all unique, divine creations. We have different strengths and talents.
Some have a gift for mathematics, others an affinity for painting, others the
height and coordination to play professional basketball. These are all "Godgiven" gifts. People profit from their God-given gifts all the time. Those
who make a living doing that which they are most gifted at are said to have
found their "true calling."
Whether or not one is using a "God-given gift," there is always the issue of
resources and time. Though that which flows through the artist may be
inspired by planes beyond, the artist must spend her precious time in this
plane creating the art. Living in the physical means we must meet physical
needs of food, shelter, clothing, etc... Though the "gift" may come from
"God," we should value the time and energy people put into that which we
desire and benefit from.
Everyone has physical, practical needs. People exchange their products or
services for the products and services others offer. Money is the medium that
allows for an easy transfer of "energy" in such exchanges. Bartering is a
great idea too. I have a client who is a talented artist who barters her art
for readings. In cultures that have healers and shamans, the tribe has always
taken care of its wise men and women, whether through gifts of food, housing
or other goods or support. Our churches support their ministers and priests
in many ways, including providing them with salaries. An equal exchange of
energy is necessary, and natural law will ensure this one way or another.
There is also the issue that people tend to value something based on what
they pay for it. If something is free, people tend to feel it's not worth
anything. In such a case, both the reader and the recipient are wasting their
time and energy. If I did not charge for my reading work, I would be booked
for years in advance with curious clients with frivolous questions, questions
that the askers weren't willing to invest anything in exploring. I would not
be free to work with people who are genuinely seeking answers to burning
issues in their lives.
Even I tend to get upset when I see a "famous" psychic charging hundreds of
dollars for his or her work, but I also have to remember that no one is
forcing anyone to pursue a reading with that person. We have to take
responsibility for our own lives. If we want a Porsche, we don't walk into
the dealership and complain that the car is overpriced so we should get the
Porsche for half price, or for free.
When I compare the many psychics I know to other professionals, most readers
stand out for their generosity and compassion. Many readers go to great
lengths to create avenues for those who can't afford a reading to be able to
obtain a free one. Several sites, including this one and my own (MuseNet),
offer story contests with free readings as prizes. If a person is meant to
have a reading, the Universe will find a way to make this happen, whether
it's through creating the funds for purchasing the service, or through the
free contests and avenues that are available.
Often it is the people who can most afford to pay for a reading who balk at
it. Others are not doing themselves any favors by setting up a "debtors"
balance with the universe, for by expecting more than they give, they only
increase the lack in their lives. To take without giving back is to create a
debt that must be repaid eventually, one way or another.
Many readers are doing empowering and healing work, bringing through
comforting messages from loved ones in spirit and guidance to help people to
create what they want in their lives. If they were not compensated for it,
most readers would not be able to afford to continue this work. A product or
service rendered deserves compensation. I try to give more than I receive in
my work, as do many sincere and compassionate readers. Of course, the
Universe ensures that all things balance out in the end.
