Primary Objective
Deliver high quality instrumental guitar music educational outcomes to beginner and advanced music students, with the
ability to conduct and establish school ensembles.
Context Statement
The NT Music School is a unit within CTPOL, School Education Services, providing music education services to primary
and secondary government schools across the NT.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide high quality teaching of instrumental guitar, at primary, middle and senior secondary school levels in
accordance with the Music School’s mission.
2. Work collaboratively with other NT Music School teachers and teachers in client schools.
3. Work in partnership with the NT Music School and client school communities, staff and parents in the delivery of
ensemble programs.
4. Provide a safe environment that will ensure the welfare and security of students.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
1. Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of the Northern Territory and a current Working with Children
Clearance Notice (Ochre Card).
2. A current NT Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
3. A Bachelor of Music and at least a Grad. Dip.Ed. with music education units.
4. Proven high level performance skill & experience across a range of styles from classical to contemporary.
5. Ability to develop and implement instrumental programs at the school level, and conduct ensembles.
6. Proven ability to teach collaboratively in a team environment and an ability to work independently with minimal
supervision.
7. High level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
8. An ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures.
Desirable:
1. Ability to play and teach at least one other musical instrument.
2. Classroom teaching experience
