20. INNOVATIVE PRACTISES, IF ANY :
(Any other innovative practice introduced to improve the quality of technical education in the
Department)
(a) Innovations introduced into mode of delivery (educational technology) :
i) Members of faculty have incorporated digital projection techniques through
use of LCD projector, by using digital slide presentations, informational videoCDs etc on courses that require them. Demonstration of experiments, programs
are also carried out in such classes.
ii) Internet services are integrated into programming/learning environment for
demonstration purposes.
(b) Innovations introduced into mechanisms of learning :
i) New Learning Methodologies - Moodle, Wiki, other CMS and LMS, etc have
been utilised for learning topics, disseminating course material and assimilating
submissions like assignments/programs etc.
(c) Introduced new modes of discussion and follow-up
i) Mailing lists have been created for specific purposes for discussions on
specialised workshops, classes etc.
(d) By undertaking software projects available as Free Software, student community is
exposed to real world problems and oriented towards solving them.
(e) Participation in Free and Open Source development environment for mini and main
projects has been made almost the norm for the department.
(f) Student community is exposed to research problems and methods of inquiry
through their participation in collaborative software projects.
