After viewing the 2000 Disney movie “Remember the Titans” (based on a
true story) you are going to demonstrate that you understand key
sociological terms/ideas by providing examples from the film. For instance:
Norm – Segregation of races (black and white students riding on separate
buses), as it demonstrated an “expected behavior or an established rule of
behavior”.
The above answer would demonstrate to me that you understand what a
norm is (that it is “expected behavior or an established rule of behavior” and
that you recognize that in the film segregation of black and white citizens
was sadly an expected societal behavior during that time period).
Note: This film is a drama and depicts the true story of two coaches and the
football team that they led in 1971. The film focuses on racial tension that
existed on the team once schools were forced to allow both black and white
students to attend the same school (in this case, T.C. Williams High School,
in Virginia).
