To provide the student with a conceptual and practical knowledge on current bank issues
confronting managers and employees at commercial banks.
The syllabus begins with detailed examination of the impact of regulatory environment on banks’
decision making. It then covers issues involved in financial management of the commercial
banking enterprise. The syllabus also covers identifying, measuring and managing the risk
exposure. The course enables students to work independently in commercial banking.
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Discuss the roles banks play and their services.
• Describe the impact of governmental policy and regulation on banking.
• Calculate, measure, and evaluate a bank’s performance.
• Identify, measure and manage risks related to banking activities.
