JOB TITLE:
Lead Store Manager
SUMMARY: Responsible for implementing the company’s policies and procedures to maximize sales and profits
for their assigned stores. Responsible for advancing the company’s image through the practice of sound and ethical
business practices as they relate to the public, customers, and employees. The Lead Store Manager reports directly
to the COO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 Leads by example in projecting a high level of AIE to both external and internal customers.
 Cultivates Customer’s good will and encourages repeat business.
 Monitors the daily and monthly financial performance as compared to budgeted goals and past history to
meet/exceed expectations. Develops and implements action plans to increase areas that are substandard for
their assigned stores.
 Plans and controls the financial matters under his/her charge within budgeted limits. Efficiently allocates
and/or reviews labor resources to be cost effective.
 Insures that all company objectives, policies, and procedures are adhered to within the store’s operation.
Recommends the development of new procedures as needed.
 Assists in developing organizational and budget requirements for their assigned stores’ operations.
 Ensures that operational standards are executed in accordance with company guidelines.
 Merchandise receipts are processed within company guidelines and operating processes are followed to
ensure 100% accuracy of goods received.
 Insures that proper cash register audit procedures are implemented and company cash receipts are properly
deposited into the bank. Verifies records are routed to accounting.
 Ensures proper hiring, training, and supervision for all immediate subordinates. Disciplines and terminates
employees according to company policies and procedures.
 Fosters, supports, and maintains, high morale by developing an effective teamwork concept among all
employees.
 Regularly evaluates the performance of all employees including managers according to procedures and
provides continual feedback to nurture employee development.
 Assists in the training and mentoring of Store Managers in training to facilitate an active bench of
promotable candidates for future vacancies. Continually seeks qualified management candidates to join the
company.
 Addresses turnover rate and develops an action plan for employee retention.
 Constantly monitors the effectiveness of store merchandising by recommending new ideas for store layout
with a balanced emphasis on quality merchandise presentation and asset protection. Maintains company
standards related to plan-o-gram execution, end cap presentations, and proper signage.
 Regularly reviews the merchandise sales activity and recommends adjustments to the min-max guidelines
when appropriate.
 Works with the Loss Prevention Managers in developing security programs and procedures to safeguard
store property and follows up by implementation and enforcement of those procedures, including, but not
limited to: store opening, closing, cash controls, inventory security, merchandise presentation, equipment,
and building security, etc.
 Follows a safety program and procedures to reduce the chances of an accident, fire, personal injury to
employees, general public, and/or supplies.
 Conducts monthly meetings with employees to review operational, administrative, and personnel matters.
 A Lead Store Manager is expected to be ethical and socially responsible, by addressing and eliminating any
type or form of conflict of interest. Participates and fosters a strong, positive, and public image.
 Coordinates and assists in the annual preparation and taking of the store’s physical inventory.
 Performs and assists with the store visit reports and audits.
ACE Store Specific Essential Functions:


Analyzes and monitors changes to merchandise mix. Within purchasing guidelines, assists store employees
in establishing minimum and maximum reorder guidelines as the basis for reorder of shelf staple items.
Works within assigned peak levels and adjusts purchases when needed according to the open to buy policy.
Leads the employees in developing in develop merchandise plans for seasonal and promotional activities.
Craft Store Specific Essential Functions:

Provides suggestions and feedback to the Merchandise Manager for new product lines, increased quantities
and other changes to merchandise mix to drive store sales and profitability.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Equipment/Tools Used: Occasional use of cash register, forklift, various hand tools (i.e. saws, drills, etc.), key
machine, paint mixers, computer, printers, fax machine, calculator, telephone, etc.
Work Hours: Available flexible hours as required. (Including days, nights, weekends and holidays
Work Environment: Works under regular store conditions. Occasional exposure to heat, dust, solvents, chemicals,
paint, glues, etc. Ability to work at different locations and travel neighbors islands as required.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
 Requires attention to detail, concentration and alertness.
 Basic mathematical skills (i.e. calculation of fractions, percentages, pricing, discounts, taxes, returns,
charges, making change, taking inventory, ordering, verification of quantities, etc.)
 Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate effective decision-making, and ability to exercise sound
judgment.
 Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time
 Properly handles confidential information as outlined in the BFS Inc.’s Employee Handbook (i.e. store
keys, company documents, pay issues, sales figures, sales plans, employee’s payroll etc.)
 Organizes work to complete assignments, maintains accuracy, pays attention to detail, and demonstrates
customer service standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 Occasional push, pull, and/or lift up to 60 lbs. of materials, including lifting and maneuvering up to 100 lbs.
of merchandise using a hand truck.
 Ability to stand and/or sit for durations up to 8 hours at a time.
 Occasional reaching, twisting, turning, stooping, squatting, crouching, climbing of ladder, grasping and
squeezing.
 Manual dexterity to operate cash register, computer, calculator, printers, fax machines, 10-key by touch,
shredders, calculators, telephones, two way radios, headsets, misc. hand and/or power tools, etc.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
 Four years of College, BA/BS Degree relative to Business Management and/or at least ten years of related
experience may be substituted for a college degree.
 Ten years of retail or business management experience.
 Working experience with computers, and general knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and E-mail access.
 Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, management, customers and vendors using both
verbal and written skills. Able to understand and follow instructions to complete assignments.
