Responsible for the continued development and execution of Safety and Loss Prevention
programs, including pre-hire and post-hire background checks, and work-safe programs.

Conduct monthly store operational/financial audits. Provide training at the store, district, and
division level on many topics including operations, business ethics, workplace violence,
safety, and inventory controls.
1999-2000
Regional Loss Prevention Manager, Blockbuster Entertainment, Cleveland, Metro-New
Jersey, New York City
Developed and implemented loss prevention initiatives for 300+ corporate Blockbuster video
stores. Had direct responsibility for four Northeast and Mid-West regions to include inventory
process, internal and external investigations, physical security, safety audits, and the indirect
management of more than 75 under-performing District Leaders. Charged with developing
shrink initiatives and shrink reduction action plans for high-risk stores. Conducted
investigations and interviews of dishonest associates. Developed and implemented loss
prevention awareness-training meetings.
1996-1999
Loss Prevention Manager, Elder-Beerman Department Store, Sandusky, Ohio
Investigation and apprehension of dishonest associates and shoplifters. Implementation of
company directed shortage reduction programs. Conducted operational compliance, cash,
and safety audits.
1992-1994
District Loss Prevention Manager, Mervyn's Department Stores, San Diego, California
Provided loss prevention operational direction for a major group of department stores with
annual sales exceeding $300 million. Supervised and coached a staff of six direct reports
and fifty-two hourly team members. Conducted high profile investigations, compliance, and
financial audits. Developed and implemented shortage control programs based on analysis of
inventory results.
1984-1992
Director of Loss Prevention Services, ABCO Desert Markets, Phoenix
Reporting directly to the company President/CEO, I directed loss prevention services for one
of the major grocery chains in the United States. Supervised the internal audit, check
control, safety/risk management, investigations, and shoplifter apprehension units.
Conducted high profile investigations. Prepared and administered a multi-million dollar
budget. Created inventory shrink reduction programs. Member of the corporate crisis
management team, executive committee, and design team for store remodels and new store
openings.

1995-1999
Owner/Operator, Loss Prevention Consultants, Sandusky, Ohio
Provided Loss Prevention services to retailers, including OSHA compliance, risk
management, human resource forms and manuals, applicant background checks, and risk
analysis.
1980-1984
Investigator / Division Chief, Arizona Department of Racing, Phoenix, Arizona
Under the direction of the Director of Investigations, I conducted investigations at all horse
and greyhound racetracks in the State of Arizona. Investigations included organized crime,
race fixing, illegal drugs, and other violations of State gaming laws. From 1982 – 1984, I was
the Division Chief for the County Fair racing program, and supervised the operations of all
Arizona State employees assigned to the County Fair program. I was also the liaison
between the Arizona Department of Racing and the Arizona Attorney General. Other duties
included testifying before the Arizona House and Senate regarding the effects of pending and
enacted legislation.
1976-1978
President, Investigator, Firelands Investigative Services, Inc., Sandusky, Ohio
Performed private investigative services for attorneys and insurance companies, including
pre-investigation for wrongful death suits and the investigation of stolen heavy construction
equipment and semi-tractors/trailers. Also provided strike security for businesses.
1973-1975
Investigator II, Ohio Department of Liquor Control, Cleveland, Ohio
Conducted “undercover” Ohio liquor control investigations pertaining to organized crime, vice
crimes, and sales to under-aged minors. Served on the “Special Investigations” Unit, and
testified in numerous local courts and state disciplinary boards.
1971-1973 & 1975-1977
Detective Sergeant, Perkins Police Department, Sandusky, Ohio
Responsible for the operation of the Detective and Juvenile Bureaus. Investigated major
felony crimes and served as the police department’s media spokesperson. Spoke at various
community events on crime safety, and appeared on local cable television and radio
discussing the weekly “law enforcement in review.” Served as a Patrol Officer from 19711973
