REQUEST FOR QUOTES
The City of Durango (City or COD) is requesting firm quotes for Backflow Preventer Parts
Inventory in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications contained in these
documents.
Any requests for clarification or additional information deemed necessary by any
respondent to present a proper cost quote shall be submitted in writing to the Purchasing
Agent, 105 Sawyer Dr, Durango, CO 81303, faxed to (970) 385-7547, or emailed to
wilsonds@ci.durango.co.us , referencing this Request for Quotes (RFQ). Written requests
must be received a minimum of seven (7) days prior to the quote submission deadline. Any
request received after the above stated deadline will not be considered. All requests
received prior to the above deadline will be responded to in writing by the City in an
addendum addressed to all prospective respondents.

It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to see that the quote is received before the submission
deadline. If applicable, the respondent shall bear all risks associated with delays in the U.S. mail or
delivery service. Note that guaranteed overnight delivery to Durango may not be available from
overnight carriers. Late quotes will not be considered.
All quotes submitted shall be binding upon the respondent if accepted by the City within sixty
(60) calendar days of the submission date. Negligence upon the part of the respondent in
preparing the quote confers no right of withdrawal after the time fixed for the submission of
quote.
This project is being bid in accordance with the City of Durango Purchasing Policy.

I.
INVITATION TO BID
The City of Durango is requesting quotes for backflow preventers for water inventory. It
is the City’s intent to keep a minimum number of parts in inventory and re-order as
inventory is depleted. Backflow preventer part quotes shall be received only for the
brand-name products and part numbers specified herein.
II.
INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS
Pricing shall remain firm for the first year of the contract. Products furnished shall be
the same as bid. Any product delivered to the City not as ordered shall be returned to
the successful bidder at no cost to the City. Each respondent shall list herein what, if
any, restocking charge will be charged to the City for items being returned by the City or
County at no fault of the vendor.
Any restocking charge shall be taken into consideration in the award/evaluation process.
Award will be made to the lowest, responsible bidder meeting specifications who
presents the product or service that is in the best interest of the City.
Deliveries will be made to City of Durango Warehouse, 105 Sawyer Drive, Durango,
Colorado 81303. Delivery of all products will be made FOB, final destination.
Repeated late and/or partial deliveries shall be interpreted as failure to meet contractual
obligations and cause for cancellation of the contract.
The City of Durango reserves the right, in case of vendor default, to procure the articles
or services from other sources and hold the defaulting vendor responsible for any excess
costs occasioned thereby. Should vendor default be due to a failure to perform or
because of a request for a price increase, the City reserves the right to remove the vendor
from the respective bidders list for twenty-four months.
III.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Period of service shall commence upon award and end on March 31, 2010. The City
reserves the right to extend the award for two additional calendar years (Years 2 and 3),
by mutual written consent.
City of Durango purchases are not subject to taxation. Tax exemption certificates will
be furnished upon request.
