1) Signing the authorization card indicates that you want IEA/NEA to be your exclusive bargaining agent.
2) Signed cards will be filed with the Labor Board and will remain confidential.
3) The card is not a membership form.
4) The language on the card is consistent with Labor Board rules.
5) A representation election can be petitioned for after a minimum of 30% of the employees sign cards.
6) The election may be held within 90 days from the date that the cards are filed with the
Labor Board
7) Voting is not limited to card-signers; everyone in the bargaining unit as determined by the Labor Board may be eligible to vote.
8) Voting is by secret ballot.
9) A simple majority of those who vote determines the outcome of the election.
10) The Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board will conduct the election.
