Weekly Update
01 August
Sergeant Paul Masterson’s Message
The past week has seen an emphasis on road safety in the Battle area with our Neighbourhood
Policing Team working with our partners in the Fire Service and volunteers from the Hooe, Ninfield
and Catsfield Speed Watch to deliver a message to drivers that we will not tolerate anti social,
dangerous or illegal driving in the area.
17 drivers in Battle were given the opportunity to discuss their motoring offences (mobile phone or
seatbelt) with a fire officer instead of receiving a fine, over 50 drivers were spotted by the Speed
Watch volunteers exceeding the speed limit and a further 12 drivers received a fixed penalty notice or
offer of a speed awareness course.
The area was severely disrupted on Thursday when a serious collision closed the A21 so our teams
will be out again in the coming weeks in an attempt to reduce the chance of this happening again.
Anyone who has concerns in their local area should contact their PCSO and we will look to carry out
checks in the area.
Kind regards,
Paul Masterson
