Midterm exams will not be reviewed in class, but may be reviewed in my office during
office hours for 1 week after scores are posted. You will sign-in for a prenumbered
exam on exam night, and will receive an F in this course if you leave class with your
exam!! It is your responsibility to make sure you receive credit for turning in your
exam prior to leaving the exam room.
All exams are mandatory, and will only be given at the scheduled times unless
alternative arrangements are made in advance. If you are ill or have a personal
emergency on exam day, you must contact me prior to the exam (via e-mail or voicemail in my office). If you miss an exam without permission you will receive a zero.
Documentation is required to support the need for alternative exam arrangements
(e.g., doctor's note).

Quizzes: Seven quizzes will be given, each worth ten (10) points. Missed quizzes are
scored as a zero. Quiz questions may consist of true/false, multiple choice, short answer,
and/or problems.
3.
Problems and Exercises: Problems and exercises will not be collected or graded. The
following course schedule indicates the chapter assignment and relevant problems and
exercises for each class period. You should read the chapter and familiarize yourself with
the problems and exercises before each class. As I generally answer questions related to
problems and exercises during class, you should attempt them on your own prior to class.
You are expected to actively participate in the presentation of problem and exercise
solutions in class.
Other Policies:
-
Cell phones are not allowed at your desk during exams.
-
Students may not use scientific calculators during exams.
-
Students may be administratively withdrawn from the class after 3 unexcused absences.
-
Students with final exam conflicts should visit the Office of the Vice President for
Academic Affairs to resolve the exam conflict.
-
The withdrawal policy for the course is the same as the university-wide withdrawal policy.
The last day to drop with a “W” is Friday, October 12, 2007. I do not give “WF” to
students who withdraw, even if they are failing the class.
-
The course syllabus provides a general plan for the course; under certain circumstances it may be necessary to modify the plan. You will be notified in advance if
changes in the schedule must be made.
Academic Honesty Policy
All academic work must meet the standards contained in “A Culture of Honesty.” Students are
responsible for informing themselves about those standards before performing any academic
work. All academic work submitted in this course must be your own unless you have received
my permission to collaborate and have properly acknowledged receiving assistance. It is my
responsibility to uphold the University’s academic honesty policy and report my belief of
dishonesty to the Office of the Vice President for Instruction.
