Iliad

Have you ever read a story that pulled you in? Well, the Iliad is full of action, full of characters and it gives you an idea how it was like back in Greece. For example, war was fought with swords, spears, gods and levies. The story took place in Greece and troy; however this two cities were enemies. Gods supported the warriors by providing protection and giving blessings to the two sides. Some of the gods- Apollo and Zeus they were very important by allowing protection and giving the Greek and Trojans knowledge.

Theirs was no city greater and more powerful than the city of troy. King Priam ruled the city very wisely, he had Great War static’s and had many sons that were masters at slaying.

The Greeks and the Trojans fought for nine years. Achilles was the greatest warrior and protaculus was his best friend; helping and supporting each other. The Iliad takes place back in the day, were the army of Greece was led by king Agamemnon.

Agamemnon left troy to steal treasure and to kidnap Chrysies and Briseis. During the

Trojan War, three goddesses came to Paris and offered him gifts. “Athena offered him great skills for combat and giving the strength a great warrior”. This is and example of evocation- helping or asking a god for help. After the entire struggle war was declared!

During the time, Agamemnon claimed the priest daughter, chrysies as his own property.

Apollo blessed the priest by shooting arrows for ten days at the Greek army.

The Greeks and the Trojan kept on fighting, but Achilles made an agreement to not fight unless Agamemnon was fighting. Gods interfered with the battle by helping and blessing one of the two sides. This is also and example of evocation because gods heard the prayers of the warriors and decided to help them out. Hector was the strongest warrior of the Trojan side, “he will never quit fighting, unless Greece is defeated”. The Greeks realized that they would lose unless Achilles got back into the battle and straighten things out. Patroclus Achilles’ best friend took Achilles armor to help the Greek side, but

Achilles warned him not to follow the retreat warriors into the city of Troy.

Achilles was very worried about the war and about his best friend. Protaculus helped out the battle ships and he also evened out the war. He did everything Achilles asks him to do, but he forgot about hector and the consequences. Protaculus followed the retreat Trojans back into the city of Troy. Hector and Apollo were determined to kill protaculus. Hector succeeded to kill Achilles best friend, he also striped Achilles’ old armor.
