Tenant and Church Co-ordinator
Responsible to:
Operations Manager
Responsible for:
Liaising with churches, establishing houses in Cambridge, leading on the
empowerment to the tenants including liaising with the church group to
meet the support needs. Representing Hope into Action in Cambridge.
Portfolios with lead responsibility
Spiritual Leadership:
 Ensure the organisation retains a strong Christian ethos, culture and practices
throughout, with a strong emphasis on prayer and a Biblical basis for decision and policies.
 Devote specific time to pray for the organisation and attend regular retreats.
 Contribute to corporate worship.
 Speak regularly at churches, Christian events, home groups etc.
Empower the tenants in the house:
 Carry out assessments of referrals for potential tenants for the houses adopting the HIA
template.
 Develop Tenant Action plans and be lead project worker for the 3 tenants in Hope House.
 Liaise with appropriate agencies, probation, Drug-Intervention-Programmes, Job Centres
etc to ensure appropriate support.
 Develop relationships with referral agencies such as hostels, women’s centres, etc.
 Work with the partnering church to guide their support into each house.
 Monitor, record and file support plans, outcomes etc of each client
 Help with training of the church members offering pastoral support.
 Send regular prayer updates to the church friendship and support group.
 Oversee the collection of water payments from the tenants.
 Oversee the Housing Benefit claims with support from HIA Peterborough.
 Work with tenants to help their budgeting, utility usage, relationships within the house and
setting house rules
 Work with Church mentors/supports in helping the tenants to develop life skills, work
placements, study or volunteer work.
 Ensure tenancies are signed in line with HIA standards.
 Meet/exceed targets set by Trustees on voids and occupancy levels.
 Be prepared to discipline /evict where boundaries / rules have been broken – in
discussion with Hope into Action Director.
Liaising with churches:
 Meet with church leaders, volunteers and other interested parties to represent, explain
and promote Hope into Action with a view to develop new church partnerships.
 Meet with church groups to explain the Hope into Action model and commitments
required to partner with HIA.
 Encourage prayer support and develop e-mail lists.

Encourage people to consider giving to HIA.
Preparation and Maintenance of the house
 Liaise with a house purchaser over the choice of house and the required needs of the
house, including furnishing(s) as required by tenants.
 Liaise with the church to help mobilise their support in basic furnishing(s), painting,
decorating or maintenance.
 Ensure, in conjunction with purchaser, that the house is fit for purpose and there are
suitable instructions left for the tenant.
 Meet regularly with tenants and receive maintenance requests for action.
 Hold monthly house meetings with the tenants to discuss joint issues and maintenance
requests.
 Lead on fixing basic maintenance of the house
Policies:
 Adhere to all Hope-into-Action policies.
 Help develop and input into policies where appropriate.
Other:
 Attend and contribute to the HIA away-days.
