REGENTS BIOLOGY MIDTERM REVIEW PROJECT
Directions: Using the Internet, your textbook, and your knowledge of biology IN
GROUPS of NO MORE THAN 4 you will be assigned one of the topics below:
Possible Topics/Content:
1. The Life Processes & the Hierarchy of Life
2. Tools of the Biologist (Microscopes and Measuring with a Microscope)
3. Biochemistry
4. The Cell & Organelles
5. Movement Across a Membrane (Passive Transport & Active Transport)
6. Cellular Respiration
7. Classification of Living Things (Dichotomous Keys and the 5 Kingdoms)
8. Nutrition (Heterotrophic Nutrition of the Representative Organisms)
9. Nutrition (Human Nutrition)
10. Nutrition (Autotrophic Nutrition – Photosynthesis)
Once you have your assigned topic, you will choose one of the three scenarios below.
Scenario 1  Create a music video where the lyrics outline the relevant content to your
assigned topic. Your music video must include appropriate lyrics, as well as “visual
effects” to represent the appropriate information.
Scenario 2  Create a video documentary in which you follow the “life” of the relevant
content to your assigned topic. You must include “interviews” with appropriate
“characters” recounting the specifics of the relevant information.
Scenario 3  Create an interactive PowerPoint presentation in which you provide
specific details explaining the specifics of your assigned topic. Your PowerPoint
presentation must include diagrams, video clips, and interactive links in which the viewer
can click a link and be provided with all the information that is relevant. In addition, you
must create a short interactive review quiz at the end of the PowerPoint.
Scenario 4  Create a newspaper with articles focusing on the relevant content to your
assigned topic. Articles may be “creative” but must contain correct facts about the
relevant subject matter. You should include all aspects of a newspaper to display
information; i.e. comics, crosswords, advertisements, articles.
*IN ADDITION, ALL SCENARIOS must include a brief narrative that
describes how your group accomplished the assigned task; including a breakdown
of each group member’s responsibilities!!!!
Your project will be graded on timeliness, accuracy, content, creativity, overall
presentation, and teamwork. A grading rubric will be provided to you at a later date.
Your final presentation must be digital, to be shared with the entire class to help prepare
for the midterm exam on January 26th.
