Schneider Electric will launch Unity, the new Telemecanique PLC software and processors
platform, at its Initi@tive Automation & Control fair. Combined with our Transparent
Ready solution, which builds web technologies into products to make them transparent,
Unity opens up a whole new world of Collaborative Automation.
The Initi@tive Automation & Control showroom will be organized around the Unity concept
and feature a number of new Telemecanique automation ranges:

Unity, the new Telemecanique software and processors PLC platform
The entirely renewed Unity range of automation software is based on openness and
collaboration between software products throughout an application’s life cycle. Together with
the new Premium, Atrium and Quantum PLCs, Unity offers a new approach of developing
software and operating automation systems with productivity as the main priority.
Unity provides access to the new performance capabilities of Premium, Atrium and
Quantum PLC processors, which feature more memory for programs and data and vastly
improved cycle times.

The Unity suite of simple, specialized software programs includes:
- Unity Pro, which offers all the recognized utilization value of PL7 software for
Telemecanique PLCs and Concept software for Modicon PLCs. This IEC 61131-3
software single handedly programs, fine tunes and operates our Premium, Atrium and
Quantum PLCs.
- Unity Studio, which is designed to manage multi-application projects and synchronize
them over Ethernet.
- Unity Developer’s Edition (UDE), which provides the Unity Pro and Unity Studio VBA,
VB and C++ programming interfaces for the development of customized solutions.
- Unity Application Generator (UAG), the design and generation tool for PLC/HMI
integration. Designed for batch/process applications, UAG complies with ISA S88.

Advantys STB - the open solution for integrating I/O and control system
components
More than just a modular I/O offer, Advantys STB Telemecanique is an open solution for
integrating Schneider Electric and third party I/O and control system components, as well
as a wiring interface and power management device. Advantys interfaces with most major
networks and fieldbuses on the market: Ethernet, CANopen, Modbus +, Fipio, Interbus,
Profibus DP, etc. Offering flexibility, simplicity, openness and intelligence, it is ideal for
machine automation and production island applications, wherever I/O distribution is
required.
Modicon TSX Micro automation platform: offering versatility and openness
The Modicon TSX Micro platform from Telemecanique is designed for implementing small
and medium-sized control systems up to 248 I/O. It is suitable for all machines and
processes, ranging from the simplest to those requiring rapid, powerful processing
operations. This platform offers a complete and versatile range of over 40 applicationspecific modules, capable of supporting every control and automation function. Its varying
performance levels, memory flexibility, modular configuration and openness with regard to
the market’s communications standards – Ethernet TCP/IP, CANopen, AS-Interface, etc. –
all contribute to providing the perfect solution for processing any application.

Magelis XBT G graphic terminals with touch-sensitive screens
Telemecanique Magelis XBT G graphic terminals offer an optimised interface solution for
control system operation. They feature an onboard Ethernet connection, a multipoint link for
simultaneous connection to Uni-Telway, Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, giving these HMIs a
high level of communication capability. Multimedia voice-data-image data is managed at all
levels. An external data carrier in the form of a compact flash card stores production and
backup data for the applications. The terminal is configured with Telemecanique's
VijeoDesigner VJD SPUL software, which operates under Windows. Magelis XBT G
graphic terminals come with a monochrome or colour touchscreen in a range of sizes from
5 to 12 inches.
Zelio Logic smart relay range for small automation systems
Zelio Logic Telemecanique smart relays are designed for use in small automation systems
comprising 10 to 40 inputs/outputs. They are suitable for all types of installation and repetitive
machines, requiring simple processing, in both the industrial (finishing machines, assembly,
etc.) and building services (automation systems for alarms, barriers, access control, etc.)
sectors. Their extreme compactness and ease of setting-up provides a competitive alternative
to solutions based on cabled logic or specific cards. In order to respond to the differing needs
of the market, the offer comprises two ranges: Zelio Logic compact (optimised range for simple
automation systems with up to 20 I/O) and Zelio Logic modular (range comprising 2 bases with
10 and 26 I/O that can be expanded up to 40 I/O).
TeSys model U, the D.O.L. motor starter "smart device"
TeSys model U, marketed by Schneider Electric, is a compact expandable motor starter
designed for starting motors up to 15 kW. A product of mechatronic technology and hence
at the leading edge of its market, it combines mechanical, electrotechnical and electronic
technologies. TeSys model U is an integrated yet flexible solution which incorporates the
functions relating to power (isolation and switching) and control (protection) in a single
product, with function blocks and communication functions (processing and connection) in
addition. It is based on interchangeable snap-on components and easily adapts the device
to the precise needs of the installation. TeSys model U is thus a totally flexible and
expandable product, taking up no more space than the original version.
Telemecanique Altivar 31 variable speed drive
A compact and high performance frequency inverter, Telemecanique Altivar 31 is designed
for the control of 3-phase asynchronous motors with power ratings from 0.18 to 15 kW.
Enriched and numerous functions enable it to adapt to many applications (materials
handling, pumps, fans, packaging/packing, special machines, etc.).

One special feature of the Altivar 31 is its exceptional compactness - H 145 x W 72 x D 140
mm (Altivar 31 model: 0.75 kW, 240 VAC single-phase, RFI filter).
4 voltage ranges (240 VAC single-phase, 240, 500 and 600 VAC 3-phase), together with
integrated RFI class A filter, positive or negative logic… make the Altivar 31 an international
variable speed drive that respects the technical specifications and standards of the major
worldwide markets.
Twin Line: The complete motion control solution
Telemecanique Twin Line drives, used in combination with SER brushless motors, are
suitable for many industrial motion control applications of up to 8 kW. Their modular
construction makes them ideal for drive tasks and allows them to be integrated easily and
cost-effectively into the control system architectures associated with simple machines. To
further enhance its drive capabilities, Twin Line now includes a fourth product family, the
TLC 63. With their programmable motion controller, TLC 63 drives are suitable for
applications that in addition to motor control require simple sequential processing with
fieldbus inputs and outputs. The Twin Line range complements the Lexium range, which
offers complete and open-ended solutions for all motion control requirements up to 30 kW.
Harmony control and signalling units
Harmony is Telemecanique’s range of control and signalling units. The offer comprises
complete products or products for user assembly and includes a wide selection of
pushbuttons, emergency stop buttons, selector switches and pilot lights in 22 mm diameter
(Harmony styles 4 and 5) and 16 mm diameter (Harmony style 6) versions.
"Harmonious" because of its design and ease of use, functional because of its simple and
innovative mounting systems, this product family is easily integrated into industrial and
commercial equipment and machinery. It uses cutting edge optoelectronic technology
("Protected LED" module, patented by Telemecanique), to achieve unequalled quality in
lighting functions and offers a continuous service life of 100,000 hours (or 10 years)
compared with 2,000 hours for conventional incandescent bulbs.
Global Detection, the simplified detection
Global Detection makes up a complete range of detectors focusing on Osiconcept (offering
Simplicity through Innovation) patented by Telemecanique. Osiconcept aims to simplify
selection, stockage, installation, setting-up, maintenance and contributes to great
improvements in productivity. It is applied to the Osiris photo-electric sensors, Osiprox
inductive proximity sensors, Osiswitch limit switches and Nautilus pressure switches. A
single Osiris product, for example, is able to operate in any of the five conventional
detection modes (Thru-beam, reflex, polarised reflex, diffuse and with background

XPS-MC configurable multifunction safety controller
The Telemecanique XPS-MC controller is designed for applications requiring multiple
simultaneous safety functions. It features 22 certified safety functions guaranteeing its use
in applications conforming to category 4 of EN 954-1. These functions – emergency stop
monitoring, two-hand control, monitoring of guard covers, coded magnetic switches, mats
and security light barriers, zero speed detection, etc. – can all be configured with XPS
MCWIN software running under Windows. The software includes the library of the 22
certified functions along with multiple options for combining functions and for startup
conditions, which can easily be assigned to the safety outputs.
ACM range of wall-mounted metal enclosures
Telemecanique’s ACM range of wall-mounted metal enclosures is designed for use in
electrical equipment in the Building industry and industrial applications. High-performance
and rigorous quality management procedures have been put in place throughout the entire
manufacturing cycle, ensuring the enclosures have a high level of safety and reliability. The
ACM range conforms to standard NF C 15-100, which applies to “Low voltage
electrical installations”, and thus fully satisfies all market requirements.
