All GE course requirements plus ENGE 1104 or 1114*(either with grade of C- or better),
MATH 1206 & MATH 1224, ENGL 1106, & PHYS 2305, plus department-specific requirements as
listed below:

Competitive GPA, as determined by the applications to the department in each review period.
Applicant must have no more than 55 hours earned at VT. Applications from students admitted to
VT as freshmen are reviewed at the end of each fall and spring semester only. Applications from
students admitted to VT as transfer students (from another college/university) are reviewed at the
end of second summer session, fall semester and spring semester only.
2.0 overall GPA. CEM enrollment is restricted to 40 students, based upon GPA, written statement

2.3 overall GPA. “C” or better in CS 1705, 1114 or 1124

AE, ESM, ME & OE require ENGE 1114. All other majors will accept either class.
