-Colors found opposite on the color wheel.
NEGATIVE SPACE
-Also known as ground in a figure/ground relationship
SCALE
-The size or apparent size of an object in relation to other
objects.
TROMPE L'OEIL
-French for fool the eye.
PRIMARY COLORS
-Red, yellow and blue.
FORMAT
-The shape or proportions of a picture plane.
OPTICAL MIXING
-Produced by placing dabs or dots of color side by side.
STYLIZED
-Simplified or exaggerated visual form that emphasizes
particular design qualities.
VANISHING POINT
-Where all horizontal lines converge in linear perspective.
ANALOGOUS COLOR
-Neighboring colors on the color wheel.
IMPASTO
-Thick paint which produces texture.
VALUE
-The lightness or darkness of a color.
HUE
‘blue’)
-The specific name to a wavelength of light. (ie ‘red’
LOW KEY
-The dark end of a value scale
HIGH KEY
-The light end of a value scale
