Pet Peeves Speech Assignment
Assignment: You are to give a 3-6 minute speech detailing several of your pet peeves.
You may include anecdotes regarding how these became your pet peeves. The goal is to
give an entertaining speech that is not offensive and that does not cause you to become
angry or belligerent.
Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to entertain your audience. This assignment is
important because it requires a great deal or preparation and it will allow you to continue
perfecting your public speaking skills and get feedback on where you can improve. You
have only 2 more speeches after this; one will be unannounced and the other is for the
final exam.
Requirements: To earn an “A” you must meet the following requirements.
 You are required to use a prop and/or visual aid.
 You are also required to wear business casual attire.
 Speech must be 3-6 minutes.
 Speech can not be offensive in any way to anyone. It can not contain bigotry or
slander of any kind. Thus, no one in the class should feel angry or hurt by your
presentation. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a grade of zero.
 You must hand in an outline of your speech. It may be typed or hand written. (I
must be bale to read it.)
