I also made a major presentation and published a booklet on changes in Indonesia’s food marketing system and its ramifications on Indonesian farmers. The project occurred during July – August 2007. Served as an economic consultant on Louisiana State University’s Partnership for Food Industry Development project in Nicaragua. During the assignment, I helped them develop a monitoring and evaluation plan for the economic aspects of the project. The assignment occurred during January 2007. Served as an economic consultant to Schaffer Global Group, Baton Rouge, LA. The study involved the feasibility of a sugar refinery in Egypt. The project occurred during January 2006. Served as an external examiner for the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Studies at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. The assignment was to review the exit requirements of the advanced undergraduate course offerings and to assess the program, teaching, and student performance in the M.S. programs. I was part of a six- person team that reviewed the College of Agricultural and Marine Sciences during May 2005 and May 2006. Served as a consultant to Louisiana State University on its project entitled “Partnership for Food Industry Development” which takes place in Southern Africa (Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia). Served as a consultant to Louisiana State University on its project entitled “Improving Income of Private Ukrainian Agricultural Producers through Agricultural Extension. Much of the time was spent delivering lectures to Ukrainian extension specialists and faculty members on modern marketing systems and entrepreneurship. These activities took place in April 2004. Performed a marketing study of the beef industry in East Java, Indonesia for Louisiana State University. The study was part of a USDA-funded project to assess and improve the market for US cattle genetics, feed, and other livestock products and services. The study took place in July 2003. Analyzed market conditions of ammonium sulfate for LG&E Energy. The study took place from November 2002 to February 2003. Member of a two-person team to assist in the development of an economic development strategy for Southern and Eastern Serbia. The December 2001 assignment was for the Community Housing Foundation, which has a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development. Member of two review panels for economic research projects funded by USAID South Africa. The assignments were completed in Johannesburg in January 2000 and December 2000. Member of the Hillside Agriculture Assessment Team for Haiti in 1999. This was a USAID project contracted through the Southeastern Consortium for International Development. I was in charge of the economic analysis which determined the feasibility of various project investments on the objectives of increasing farm incomes and enhancing the environment. Served on two review panels for grants associated with the Fund for Rural America in 1997. These panels were organized by the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service of the USDA. Performed an evaluation of the USDA=s Cochran Fellowship Program in 1996. I was part of a two-person team that designed, tested and implemented a survey instrument to former Cochran Program participants. I interviewed former participants and others familiar with the program in Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Performed many different statistic analyses for Marketing Horizons, Inc. during the 1994-96 period. Most of these models were used to predict market share for particular herbicides as relative prices among herbicides changed. The outputs included PC-based computer models to generate market share projections. Served as an outside evaluator for a international education project at North Carolina A&T University in 1994. Served on a review panel to review proposals for 1890 University Strengthening grants in 1994. This panel was organized by the Cooperative State Research Service of the USDA. Served as a member of the USDA Agricultural Assessment Team for the Republic of South Africa in 1994. This team was charged by the Emerging Democracies Office (USDA) to investigate potential trade and investment linkages for US agribusiness firms. Served on a team to evaluate the Gambia Produce Marketing Board in 1984. My part was to analyze the operations and pricing policies of the Board and make recommendations on changes that could make the Board more effective. The project was funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. In 1985, I traveled back to the Gambia to present the results of an analysis of agricultural pricing policies.
