1.) Excellent explanation of double slit experiment. Dr. Quantum animation

2.) Video of the atom song (not to be confused with the element song by Tom Lehrer sp?)
which summarizes the major figures of atomic theory in song and picture.

3.) Copenhagen DVD
A play about the last conversations between Bohr (teacher) and Heisenberg (student)
narrated through the eyes of Bohr’s wife during WWII. This movie speculates about the
purpose of Heisenberg’s (who was in charge of the German atomic commission) visit to
his old mentor, who was a Jewish Dane that eventually worked on the Manhattan project.
The introduction to the video by the playwright is very good in giving a historical
perspective. The video itself explains some ideas of QM, particularly the uncertainty
principle. I love this video, but it is a lot for kids to take in (2 hours) but certain vignettes
are useful to show.
4.) Space between atoms explained by famous physicists. Short

5.) Schrodinger cat poem is a humorous retelling of Schrodinger’s famous thought
experiment about a poor unsuspecting cat and his quantum fate.

To appreciate the poem, students may need some background:

6.) Brian Greene’s book “The Elegant Universe” is now a NOVA and available for free.
It comes as 3 parts and each part has 8 vignettes which can be shown as stand alone
videos for a given topic. This video contains some helpful imagery for students in trying
to grasp the oddness sof the quantum world.
