Spring Semester 2007
EEC 693/793 (4-0-4) Special Topics Course in Electrical Engineering
MCE 693/793 (4-0-4) Special Topics Course in Mechanical Engineering
Advanced Energy Conversion Systems Design
This is an interdisciplinary course that will be team-taught by experts in this
topic, including: Mr. Kirk Sorensen (NASA Marshall), Dr. Thomas Blue (Ohio State
University), Dr. Albert Juhasz (NASA Glenn), Dr. Joseph Bonometti (NASA Marshall
/Navy Post Graduate School), Mr. Dhanireddy Reddy (NASA Glenn), Dr. Charles
Alexander (CSU), Dr. Mounir Ibrahim (CSU), and Dr. Eugenio Villaseca (CSU)
The course content will center on a complete energy conversion system for the
21st Century, including thorium-base molten-salt nuclear reactors, Brayton cycle gas
turbines, synchronous AC generators, rectifiers and inverters, DC transmission.
Students will design subsystem components using the systems approach to
engineering, to be presented in the course.
Prerequisite for the course is graduate standing.
Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 – 2:50 PM, Room: TBD
