Please note: A summative grading should not be awarded for individual lessons. The student teacher’s teaching
should be assessed over time in relation to:
 The impact they have on the progress and learning over time of the pupils for whom they are responsible
 The context and content of their teaching over sequences of lessons
 The quality of teaching must be judged in terms of attainment in relation to the relevant Teachers’
Standards.
Feedback and evaluation from this lesson should be used in the weekly discussion and should inform the setting of
targets. The student teacher should record the evidence from this lesson, and track the progress made towards
meeting the Teachers’ Standards using the standards pages and grid which can be found within their profile
document, with reference to the training and assessment toolkit. (See Appendix 1)
