STAT 302: Introduction to Probability Theory – Syllabus

Warning: There is an exclusion between this course and STAT 241/251
Description: Basic notions of probability, random variables, expectations and
conditional expectations, discrete and continuous probability distributions and limit
theorems.

Prerequisites: MATH 200 or 226 *MATH 302 is the same as STAT 302
Topics to be covered: Chapters 1-8, excluding selected topics from each chapter.
Assessment:
 Assignments (3) 20% (Due dates are Feb 3, Mar 19 and Apr 3)
 Midterm 30% (Thu Feb 26 for Sec 201, and Wed Feb 25 for Sec 202)
 Final exam 50% *you must pass the final exam to pass the course.
