Synopsis(Abstract)
Keywords. Health Promotion, intervention, environmental,
socio-economic, risk factors, morbidity and mortality
indicators, family physicians, Health Insurance Company
At the end of the course the partcipans shoul be able to:
1. To define the main environmental risk factors.
2. To identify the main social, demographic and economic
indicators.
3. To calculate the morbidity and mortality data.
4. To explain the role of Health Promotion in Primary
Heath Care
Rationale: In practice the family physicians play a key role in
the primary health care as a first contact with the people 1.
The Albanian data shows2 that most of the patients are going
directly to hospital, which increased the burden on the
hospitals. According to the data in Albania more then
85%12patient goes to the secondary and tertiary health care. It
was discussed that among other factors it was assumed that a
important role in primary health care play Health Promotion.
In the Faculty they were taught in theorical basic concepts
and there is gap between what they are learning during the
courses and practical field in the community level having
diffificulties on translating the knowledge taken during the
course on health promotion into real practice.
The aim of teaching module will be concentrate in
environmental risk factors, socio-demographic and economic
indicators, enabling them on solving the health problems in
the community in order to find the possible explanation for
certain kind of situation, stressing efforts that health promotion
and educations should be the main part of them.
Participants. Family physicians postgraduate course (second
year).
Duration Three days which content 6 lecturer and 6 hours
workshop.
Planning implementations. The whole development of the
program in detailed will be distributed to each participant.
Module evaluation. A constructed questioner will be
administrated by the participants at the end in order to
evaluate the whole module and teaching
Reading recommended books list will be in the handout to
all the participants.

Assessment of the students
Teaching methods. For the purpose of our aim it will be
teaching groups lecturers and individual presentation about
their community profile
Teacher should combine in front lecturer and open discussion
particularly for the determinants of health point out the health
promotion is the most effective one in prevention and also is a
continuous process including all types of preventions
The assessment of the students will be done based on
individual presentation about community profile and multiple
choice questions.
