Fast Plant Lab
I.
Review of plants.
A. What is an angiosperm?
B. Tell me some things that are unique to angiosperms.
C. Review for me plant reproduction.
II.
Lab.
A. Brassica rapa – belongs to the mustard plant
B. Why it is called a fast plant: genetically engineered to grow from seed to the
formation of a new seed in approximately 28 days.
C. Procedure: Refer to handout.
1. Assign groups.
2. Each member of each team will be assigned a letter. Their letter
signifies their job for that day. 4 jobs: gather plant pod, measure
plants (give measurements to team members), water plants, & return
plant pod to the light bank.
III.
Results: What I am expecting of you.
A. Every day (excluding weekends) the student will note the day, growth in
centimeters & any significant changes on the sheet provided.
B. Each member of each team will be assigned a letter. Their letter signifies their
job for that day. 4 jobs: gather plant pod, measure plants (give measurements to
team members), water plants, & return plant pod to the light bank.
C. Present a formal lab report to me typed: details to follow when the lab is
completed.
