Explanation
Rasputin
[1915] The Tsar took command of the Russian army, and
the blame for losing the war. Russia was under the control
of his wife, Alexander who depended on Gregori Rasputin
(German). He was a conservative (against any changes).
[1917] Peasants lack the man powers needed to do their
farm work. This led to a rise in prices and this created
tensions between the government and the people. The
workers and peasants went on strikes or demonstrations.
The war drained most of Russia’s resources, which led to
uprising from the people who demanded more rations from
the government (Tsar).
Inflation & Unrest
Shortage of Food
Tsar’s indecisiveness
The Tsar kept dismissing the Duma and changing their
organization which made the people believe that they
cannot trust the Tsar.
WWI
Russia was ill equipped for the war which led to their
demise and withdrawal. This demoralized the people of
Russia and tainted their glory.
Tsar’s stubbornness
He ignored the advices given to him, and in the end he lost
supports from the military, Duma, nobility, and the Russian
citizens.
Rasputin was unpopular not only among the people, but the
nobility as well. The assassination drove a distance the
monarchy from the country.

Connection, comments, questions,
connections…
I believe it is Alexander’s fault for worsening
his husband reputation. She should have led
the country by herself rather than depending on
someone who has no political experience.
Another reason why Russia had inflation was
b/c they did not have a strong economy since
they did not fully undergo industrialization.
This is another example where the government
ignore the lower class b/c they did not think
about how their actions would affect other
classes.
The Duma was essentially an elected
legislative body who gained more trust from
the people than the government. By removing
the Duma, the Tsar is practically destroying his
relationship with the people.
WWI was a test for Russia; a test to show how
Russia is compare to the rest of the world.
Russia failed that test. This was one of the
triggers of the revolution
The Tsar was stubborn because he wanted
Russia to remain the same when his son
become a tsar.
I support the action of the nobility because
they did what was right. Rasputin was never
cut out to be a leader, and if he continued
ruling then Russia would be in more chaos.
