Job Title: Pension & Payroll Clerk
Salary: Grade 4
Hours of work: 22 hours per week (3 days) AYR
Responsible to: Finance & Resource Leader
Post Objective:
Reporting directly to the Finance & Resource Leader the clerk will collect and prepare all payroll information and
ensure accurate processing within the monthly deadlines, ensuring a full audit trail.
To be responsible for the accurate reporting of pension details and completing pension reports as required
To support primary schools that are part of the Multi Academy Trust with all elements of payroll and pension. This
includes training, overseeing submissions, completing returns and liaising with the payroll bureau on their behalf.
Duties, Responsibilities and Key Tasks:

Instructing employee services on the issuing of contracts and letters confirming terms and conditions

To action as appropriate all starters, leavers and changes to terms and conditions, including liaison with
managers and with payroll and preparing letters to employees and to resolve any related issues.

Preparation and submission of additional hours worked.

Liaising with Revenue and Customs where necessary

Dealing with all statutory payroll payments and ensure full compliance

To administer and process the employees’ pension scheme for Magnus and all other MAT schools, ensuring
accurate records are kept and are fully up to date.

To complete pension returns for both Teachers Pension and Local Government ensuring accuracy and that
returns are completed within the set deadline.

To liaise with Teachers Pensions and LGPS ensuring information is submitted in a timely fashion and all
pension administration is up to date.

Administer payroll year end processes and submissions

Ensure all payroll processes are in line with all statutory and audit requirements

To work as part of the Resource Team, providing cover where necessary and having an understanding of the
service on offer to staff from the team.

To greet visitors as and when required as part of the front office of school following the school visitor policy.

Perform any task or duty under the reasonable direction of the Director of Finance and Development.
The responsibilities of the post may be reviewed and modified in light of the needs of the academy. Any changes of a
permanent nature will be incorporated into the job description and will therefore be the subject of negotiation with
the post holder.
Note: It is expected that all post holders at Magnus Academy take part in training opportunities provided as part of
their continued professional development and that any gained time to be taken in lieu.
