AA announces Roadside Assistance Joint Venture in India
AA plc announces that it has established a joint venture with TVS Automobile Solutions
Limited to provide operational expertise to develop its roadside assistance business in India.
TVS Automobile Solutions is the roadside assistance subsidiary of TVS & Sons, one of the
largest players in the Indian automotive market. In addition to its roadside assistance
business, the group manages a number of automotive businesses, including multi-brand car
service garages and car dealerships, extended warranties and parts distribution.
The AA will take a 49% share of the JV for an investment of £4 million. The JV will give the
AA access to TVS’s network and the opportunity to leverage the AA’s operational expertise
and strong existing relationships with car manufacturers in the rapidly growing market in
India, where car sales are forecast to triple in the next five years.
TVS Automobile Solutions provides a branded breakdown service, supported by a national
network of recovery garages. The JV will be based in India and the agreement will last for an
initial minimum term of four years.

“India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world, with sales of passenger cars
forecast to triple within the next five years. Roadside assistance in India is relatively
undeveloped and is currently entirely focussed on the business market rather than the
consumer market.
“The joint venture will be able to capitalise on our leading position in the UK B2B market and
operational experience. In addition, with vehicle ownership expected to increase
significantly, there is a real opportunity for us to take a pioneering role in the B2C market in
India.
“The partnership demonstrates the potential of the AA to become a knowledge and systems
based company supporting partners in different parts of the world.”
