Bailey Southwell & Co. Partner Appointed to Vanderbilt University Faculty
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (January 2008) -- Bailey Southwell & Co., LLC (BSC) announces
that Jack Bailey has accepted a part-time appointment to join the faculty at Vanderbilt
University as an assistant professor. As part of Vanderbilt’s continuing initiative to bring in
business leaders to educate its students, he will teach Survey of Entrepreneurship, an
undergraduate course in the College of Arts & Science’s Managerial Studies Program.
His lectures will cover topics such as:
•
major paths to entrepreneurship;
•
the key partners of every successful entrepreneur;
•
capital raising strategies for the entrepreneur: early, middle, and late stage;
•
building company value through technology and people;
•
the role of acquisitions in corporate growth;
•
the art of harvesting value from your company; and
•
the keys to entrepreneurial success.
Mr. Bailey will continue serving as partner and co-founder at Bailey Southwell & Co., a
boutique investment bank that provides advisory services to small and midsize businesses.
Mr. Bailey is responsible for industrial clients, as well as overseeing all cross-border
transactions for the firm. He has advised on transactions with parties based in England, The
Netherlands, Israel, and Australia, as well as the U.S.
Prior to joining Bailey Southwell, Mr. Bailey served as corporate and securities counsel in a
national law firm and in a Fortune 500 company. He also worked as a Chief of Staff for U.S.
Congressman Todd Akin. Mr. Bailey received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University and his
J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School.
